110. Doug Stone - Made for Lovin' You Billboard Hot Country Songs Peak: 6 Billboard Hot Country Songs of 1993: 45 Total Points: 1289 Average Rank: 85.933333333 Standard Deviation: 26.47766354 rgreen0625 - 29 Jrod82 - 44 sabre14 - 51 bboat11 - 63 Cody Wants Out... - 80 George Strait Junkie - 89 austin - 95 Kanenrá:ke - 100 .indulgecountry - 101 LBTrocks - 101 someguy - 104 Tim - 106 castleoblivion26 - 106 kw9461 - 110 Glove Slap - 110
Now this one REALLY surprised me! In fact, it surprised me so much that I can't help but think that this was unwarranted! Yeah, Doug Stone isn't too well-liked here (outside of a song or two), but I thought this one was decent enough to escape the bottom five, let alone last place. As you can see, we kick things off with three top half losses including a top 30. Sadly, a slew of bottom 10 placements kept this one sliding down with no way up. P.S. Congrats kw9461 and Glove Slap on your p-p-p-p-perfect rankings!

I can't deal with Doug Stone's voice. His three songs on the last rankdown constituted my bottom 3 there. That didn't repeat this time around, but he still got the lowest spot.

A lot of Doug Stone's songs are just so forgettable, this one included. Meh.

Wait, Doug Stone had songs in the 1992 rankdown??! I probably wouldn't even recognize the titles if you told me what they were... Re-listening to "Made For Lovin' You" now, I can see why I ranked it close to the middle, but I can also see why it made a lot of peoples' bottom 10s. It is both pretty and boring, which is a very odd combination that definitely leads to a song that I don't dislike whilst listening to it, but don't ever think about or miss when I am not listening to it.

Okay tho, ALBS is off-limits for you to use as a hint associated with anything in the bottom half of a rankdown, let alone a last-place contender...

Lmao of COURSE the song would be the last place contender for the entire rankdown, only to be saved at the last minute by LBTflops.

Lmao of COURSE the song would be the last place contender for the entire rankdown, only to be saved at the last minute by LBTflops. One song saved usually means another one gets tanked; next up is the first song in the rankdown to have no top 40s, but I finally received a p-p-p-p-perfect ranking! Oh yeah, and two others will as well. This also marks the first song that went to the top 3 on country radio way back when.

Here's the song that LBTrocks knocked to last place at one point! 108. Vince Gill - No Future in the Past Billboard Hot Country Songs Peak: 3 Billboard Hot Country Songs of 1993: 47 Total Points: 1271 Average Rank: 84.7333333333333 Standard Deviation: 16.95568454 ( 4th lowest!) Tim - 54 George Strait Junkie - 69 Kanenrá:ke - 70 rgreen0625 - 73 austin - 73 LBTrocks - 77 someguy - 78 Glove Slap - 78 castleoblivion26 - 81 .indulgecountry - 94 bboat11 - 100 kw9461 - 100 Cody Wants Out... - 108 Jrod82 - 108 sabre14 - 108
This marks the first top 3 hit eliminated from the game; on our end, a sole ranking in the top half (i.e. top 55) leaves us at this point and only pushed it to the 90s before multiple lower rankings pushed this down into the bottom five. Obviously one of his more forgettable ballads, I can't even remember how this goes and I played it about half a dozen times.

Why isn’t the s**tty Billy Ray Cyrus song out first?!? This one was nice... I love this song and am very disappointed it is in the bottom 2. Seriously out of these 110 songs people thought this was the worst song?!?!?!?! It is a guilty pleasure for me sure but I still don't think it deserved Bottom 10 at all. This is only here because of who sings it.

"In The Heart Of A Woman" is awful and it's sad to see it place above SCNA, but at least it's only barely.

BRC isn't a great vocalist and that probably played a part in me ranking it lower than I might have otherwise.

Next up, I lose a near top 40, along with two actual top 40s. Otherwise, it's just another boring reveal with most of y'all putting this in your bottom 40.

We'll get through the bottom ten tomorrow guys! Even if it kills me!
More shockers, including our very first top ten loss, will be on the way as well! Hang on tight and don't let go!

"Made For Lovin' You" - I'm probably one of the few Doug Stone fans on Pulse and more than not I like his material, but this song is a snoozer. And this song was released from an album that overall was actually pretty good. We'll probably see Doug Stone return again in the 1994 Rankdown but he probably won't fare much better. Most of Doug's best material came from his debut album in 1990 and he followed that up with another successful sophomore release in 1991.
"No Future in the Past" - I know Vince Gill's material isn't all that well liked on Pulse and because of that I'm not surprised to see him out already. Again I'm probably one of the few that actually like most of Vince's output and this song is no exception...I think it's well done and I love the combination of Vince's voice with the piano and steel guitar. I also enjoy a really good sad country song and this one for sure is lol.
Billy Ray Cyrus - Another artist who I'm not surprised to see out this early with both of his songs eliminated. I agree he gets a lot of unnecessary shade thrown his way, but I've never been a fan of these two songs overall. I think Billy Ray will do much better in the 1994 rankdown with "Words By Heart" as that is one of his better songs IMO.
"Just One Night" - I'm pretty sure I used to like this song a lot more than I do now and for whatever reason it hasn't aged well at all to me. I like most of McBride & the Ride's material but listening to this one now I just find it kinda ho-hum and boring. 1992 was probably this group's strongest year so I don't think there is much material left to carry them over into another rankdown.

*adds'WordsByHeart'toplaylistafterweeksofcontemplation* Lol good! I was actually wondering if that song was going to be included and it for sure deserves to be. Even though it peaked just outside the top 10 it’s a good song and is still one I jam out to every now and then.

Coming up next, you'll see the first #1 hit by a certain artist, while someone loses their first top 10; in fact, it's given me a sense of...
*Please note that this is not meant to be a hint for #105.

So far I literally had never even heard of any of these songs before doing the rankdown... Not disappointed in the slightest to lose another Dough Scone song.
