#31 never experienced the highs that "Help Me" did, but otherwise had a similar trajectory. It is another song with a top 5 and top 10 rank. Four top 20s join the lovefest. A 50 and two more bottom 5s ensured this couldn't go much further.

Going in, I thought this or "You Can Get It" would be the obvious 50s. I wouldn't have included the song if I didn't like it a lot, but even with the best yacht rock, there's only so much love I can give. 31

My favorite song of his, honestly...but among this group of songs, this wasn't escaping my bottom five.

i expected the yacht rock to end up high on my list, but as i edited, it just kept moving farther and farther down. such is the case with this, a very nice song with some slick guitar, but it didn't compare with the top half of my list

40. Nights on Broadway (8): I discovered this song when I bought their Greatest Hits album in the mid-90s --and I really liked it. It was one of those early melodic, more pop-rock songs they recorded that I think has aged well. Bee Gees is one of my favorite acts ever, so that could also explain my being the highest ranker of this one. Thought this could at least be in the upper half...
39. 'Til I Die (49): This was a first listen. And didn't grab me at all. Maybe I should've paid more attention to the lyrics, but the music, structure and vibe were pretty forgettable to me, unfortunately --and I do love several of BB classics...
38. She's Gone (38): Another P-P-P-P-PERFECT RANKING!! I like the white soul feel of it, but it's not amongst my favorites from H&O.
37. Back Stabbers (44): This was an interesting discovery. I liked its lush musicality, but otherwise was a bit too simple for me to rank it higher.
36. Les Fleurs (26): That chorus is EVERYTHING. Glad to see this in an RD. Should've been in the top 30, but I can see how this can be considered too weird...
35. I Can't Stand The Rain (34): Unlike Les Fleurs, this was a first listen. Like Les Fleurs, this song is not of a genre that I like the most --but I LIKED this! There was something subtly captivating in the voice, melody and music of this one that made me enjoy it.
34. Strawberry Letter 23 (46): With this one I cleared my bottom 7 :) It sounded good, but overall was just ok (and a bit repetitive) for me.
33. O-o-h Child (39): I learned about this thanks to Dino's cover from 1993 :) Another case of a song I do like, but not love, so it was a candidate for bottom half. Several first-listens were just more interesting than this one.
32. Help Me (33): Good first-listen, and interesting, different enough for me to rank it closer to my top 30, but without grabbing me much to rank it inside my top 30.
31. Ride Like The Wind (18): Well, this was a favorite from my early childhood :) a song that sounds more 80s than 70s (like at least a couple others in this RD). I love the chorus and bridge of this one and reminds me of drives by the seashore at sunset time back home :'(

40. Nights on Broadway - Bee Gees Wow! Really surprised the Bee Gees coming in this low? I guess if it isn't a song from ;Saturday Night fever; it just isn't gonna cut it with you guys.
39. 'Til I Die - The Beach Boys First time listen, this didn't sound like a Beach Boys bop to me.
38. She's Gone - Daryl Hall & John Oates This band have some fierce finess to their songs. Blue Eyed soul at it's best. Tho not one of my favorites, it still deserved better than this slot.
37. Back Stabbers - The O'Jays I guess this is more or less where this song belongs?
36. Les fleurs - Minnie Riperton The music was ok, but the vocals here ,were a major tune out for me.
35. I Can't Stand the Rain - Ann Peebles This didn't work for me at all. I also fucking hate the fucking rain. 8D
34. Strawberry Letter 23 - The Brothers Johnson First time listen for me. It was actually pretty cool. The only song I know by this band is "Stomp"
33. O-o-h Child - The Five Stairsteps Oldies radio format classic. Not bad, I only knew the song when Dino made a cover of it. I love his version of the song. Dino sang the freestyle classic "Summer Girls" as well as "I Like It" and "Romeo".
32. Help Me - Joni Mitchell You know the story here. Too folky for me.
31. Ride Like the Wind - Christopher Cross Guess I had to lose a Top 10 sooner or later. This is one of my favorite songs from the early 80's.

How the hell isn't Ooh Child any higher? It's a great song. Then again, it's probably from my love of Guardians of the Galaxy.

This was one of the most fun RDs I've participated in and I genuinely love my top-32! Also pleasantly surprised to see that not all of the R&B songs have been done dirty thus far (althouh Brothers Johnson deserved better; I expected the disrespect Willie and Ann received).

Off to a roaring start, #30 brings us the 6th highest SD. With just the first 10 ballots counted, this could've been in in the top 20. This is another multiple-50 song, and a bottom 5 comes out with it. But half of us put this song in our top 257. One person took a chance on a top 15, two people were gutsier with top 10s, and a top 5 also got into the mix.

I think we can establish that the top example of what a tough rankdown this was for me was where I ranked "Bennie and the Jets". I came this close to ranking it bottom ten. That's how good this rankdown was.
Also, "electric boobs"

#29 was in one participant's top 5 and in five others' top 20s. Seven bottom 15s burden this song, however, and a bottom 10 and two bottom 5s are among them. After two appearances in the bottom 10, it zipped into the top half for a bit, fell to being just a top 30, went back up to top half for one list, and then almost entered the bottom 20.

I love Karen Carpenter. One of my favorite female singers, period, and "Superstar" is probably my favorite Carpenters song...though "Rainy Days and Mondays" is up there.

Eight people put #28 in their top 25, but only 3 of those were top 20s--though one is a top 5. On the other end, you'll see a 50, a bottom 5, and a bottom 10. At first, this spent six lists in the bottom 10, falling as low at 49, but the little bits of top half action gave it just enough energy to climb to near the top 25 itself.

I'm fine with this, as, though I really like this, I wouldn't say it's one of Boston's best. At the same time, though, this does not bode well for some other songs that I do have higher...

In a rankdown of perplexing performance arcs, #27 is one of the bigger head-scratchers. What do I mean? Well, for ages, it clung onto a top half placement simply by receiving occasional small boosts and not getting tanked as hard as anything around it. By the end, though, its grip had slipped. Here you'll find just six top 25 ranks, two being top 15 and one being a top 5. This also has one bottom 5.
