A few random thoughts here...I don't post much in these threads but I'm always lurking...
First, I'm over it with all these dominant Drake songs. I mean, they're ok, but I really don't get the hype. Ditto goes for the oversaturation of hip hop in general on the Hot 100. I like Drake a lot compared to some of the other stuff. Maybe I'm getting old but some of it...I just don't get it.
In other news, I think it's weird/funny that M5's Wait is consistently increasing in airplay, holding up pretty well in sales, and every week losing ground on the Hot 100. I guess it has crappy streaming.
Also, I really dig IDGAF and I hope it catches on and becomes a hit. I like it a lot more than New Rules.

What's with all the Flo Rida talk? In celebration of the 10th year anniversary of LOW smashing the charts? ;) For what it's worth I thought Flo Rida will be just one hit wonder or at most one year relevant but the fact that he was able to churn out hits years later is kinda amazing lol
Anyway, for this week rooting for PSYCHO to hit #1

I really hope Psycho gets at least a week at #1, those Drake songs are just so uninteresting

And Psycho is the less interesting stepbrother of Rockstar... I'm fine with either outcome.

Rooting for Psycho too so as he can challenge MJ's Bad record for #1s. Streaming has made it easier for that record to be broken so judging by their numbers, Post and Drake are the only ones right now who seem to have some potential to do so.

In the streaming era we have only 8-11 #1s per year and it's harder to see a third/fourth/fifth single being successful.

I remember when I heard "Congratulations" in April 2016 on a Spotify playlist and I was floored. It sounded so euphoric and it was the only song I'd listen to during exams to give me motivation lmao. And then it took off like half a year later.
Post Malone is killing it.

Omg at Never Be the Same potentially going Top 5.
Camilla is KILLING it - it's pretty amazing when you realize Selena also has two top 5 hits, and Demi peaked with a #6 hit.
I really hope she releases "Real Friends" next - it gives me "Love Yourself" vibes.

It's harder than ever to get a #1 hit in the late 2010s, 5 #1s from the same album without a re-release. Yes it is, but it's much easier for the streaming monsters to get #1s these days. If that record will ever be broken it'll most probably be done so by Drake who has shown that he can easily debut at #1 nowadays. He already has 2 #1 and his album doesn't come out for another month (I think). If he releases a new song in 2 weeks it'll most definitely debut at #1 too. Then the album drops and little did we know he has a song with Post Malone + Kendrick Lamar etc. that debuts at #1 too and then another few singles with talked-about music videos that get lucky and sneak in a week at #1 later in the year. All scenarios, all ifs but it is possible if we take into account Drake's recent trajectory.

I agree that on average, #1s are staying at #1 longer. There have been quite a few #1s staying 10 or more weeks the last few years. Almost as many as those that have only spent one week at #1.

Sure about that? How many times this decade has somebody had 3 #1s from the same album. In comparison to past decades when #1s were slightly or significantly more common?

if Post's label doesn't do what they are supposed to do when it's this close then they don't deserve Post and his success.
Barbra taught artist the game of how to break a close call and they need to start playing.

All scenarios, all ifs but it is possible if we take into account Drake's recent trajectory. The last post album release singles to top the hot 100 were Perfect and Thats what i like. I wasnt too into the charts then as i am now but im guessing the main reason TWIL was able to do that was pop radio/ radio in general and the same goes for Perfect plus its multiple versions I dont think i can see that happening for any big hip hop artist in this somewhat frontloaded streaming era where the position a song debuts will more or less be where it peaks. So Drake probably has at most, one more no 1 song from Scorpion; pre release or album release standout track. Maybe after then, if he gets lucky and theres a viral challenge with one of the albums songs or something. And for Post, only other potential no 1 apart from Psycho will be maybe if they release Stay as a single and it goes crazy on Pop and Country radio plus maybe a remix with a country artist. Any future rap singles from b&b, like Ball for me will probably peak in the top ten or five

Watch by Travis Scott with Lil Uzi Vert and Kanye West is a potential top 10 debut for next week. Doing great in sales and streaming. Where do you guys think it could land?

It's #2 on Apple Music behind Nice For What. It seems like with the sales and streams it has it could debut top 20, probably top 10 though.

Completely off topic, but I'm just now noticing that "Flo Rida" is "Florida" with a space. Is this a thing that people have been aware of? Why has no one ever pointed this out to me? Am I just stupid? Lol. Pretty sure he’s from Florida. It took me a while to figure it out too...but that was like 6 years ago. Ha.
