I mean, I don't think her vocals were weak after '85, but I've always placed minimal importance on them and more on songwriting, which LTT delivers in spades (as does WEG despite Neil's 'singing') as it avoids the predicitable ballad pattern from this time and through the next fifteen years at least of just getting louder and louder and trying to sell it as emotive.

At the same time as me, good timing lmao.

LTT is stunning, and one of the greatest left-field singles in pop history. While the singles from the first two albums were great and classics came from that batch, there wasn't anything to really hint that she could do something like this so soon. At Close Range is a really underrated film too and I love how it's used in it, especially at the very end in the courtroom where the full song slams in.
