Childish Gambino tho? 'This Is America' is already up to 22 million views on YouTube since the video was released early Sunday morning. 'America' also has 29.3k digital sales since it was released on Sunday. #4 on Apple Music in the U.S. and is likely increasing in streams on Spotify also. He keeps this rapid pace up, especially on YouTube and he can be in for a #1 debut on Billboard. More to come on this situation.

It’s kind of odd, that a #1 debut is likely for someone like Childish Gambino, who isn’t as established in the music industry, as Drake e.g
Still very cool

Was "Never Be the Same" discounted on iTunes?
I noticed it jumped from 10-1 on Digital Songs.

There has never been a rule on this site about who starts the Hot 100 thread - should not be a big deal anyway

Yes the main version is still discounted, but there was also a new remix with Kane Brown released last week. It has really freefalled down the ITunes chart and last I checked was at 116. Kane Brown was not credited on the Hot 100 though

Nothing surprises me anymore on the charts.
But I'm still hoping Drake can get close to that BEP record. Or at least be second place for the most simultaneous weeks at #1.

I'm perched for the June charts when Childish, Nicki, Drake, and Nas all release either in the same week or within a week of each other. The Hot 100 is going to be in shambles.

To be fair, I feel like the song isn't really blowing up because it's by Childish Gambino, but more so because of the message and highly praised video for "This is America". It seems more like something viral in the moment more than anything(it's replay value isn't the greatest thing of the song or the main focus). Above all, I guess we'll have to see how it holds up

He has one of the most talked about shows on TV at the moment (Atlanta), a very successful award season for both music and television, and well Kanye just opened the door for another visionary to shine while his is fast closing. Very much the perfect storm moment for him and he capitalized off of it.

U.S. YouTube - May 6 Childish Gambino - This Is America: 7,954,184 That's a great total. It should debut top 10 between its streams and sales, but it will need to hold that type of YT views to threaten #1. "NFW" had about 48 million streams last chart week, right? The sales for "TIA" should mostly counterbalance the airplay deficit, which means it comes down to streaming. I don't see "TIA" doing well enough over the course of the week to make it a real battle.

A week after getting 8 songs in the top 40 - the top 40 is now J. Cole - free
A couple of the 14 Post Malone songs will probably stick around though next week

It's amazing how Cardi still has songs from IOP on the charts ... 5/19 Charts shouldn't be bad since I dont think they'll be a album bomb this week it'll probably be like a couple songs off the Rae Sremmurd record that charts .

I doubt we see much from Rae Sremmurd. They barely made a dent in the Spotify and Apple Music charts.

Watch, This Is America, a couple of Rae Sremmurd songs, some bubbling under hot 100 songs, and Ashes are débuting next week.
