I don't think Never Be The Same will reach #1 on the radio chart. It's peaked on both Pop and Rhythmic and its gains on HotAC aren't going to be enough to keep it stable.

Rihanna wil be in her 14th year of chart popularity this year.
Isn't this around the time that nagging generational shift starts to happen and we'll all be shocked when her songs aren't necessarily #1 upon release?

Is it still an automatic?
Kids have always driven the popularity of the music business.
Anyway,as it happens with every artist that came before, the popular artist of the day eventually becomes something your parents listened to.

The difference with Rihanna is she's still relatively young. When Mariah, Madonna, and others hit that 14ish year mark, they were mid-30s or older. And actually I don't know if that's the mark anyway. Mariah had a career dip 11 years in, rebounded, and then stopped having #1s at chart year 19. Madonna had a career dip about 8 years in rebounded, and then stopped having #1s about 17 years in. Whitney stopped having #1s about 11 years in, and stopped having hits 13 years in.

It varies of course with each artist but... age of course is a factor but...time in the spotlight is another

Taylor Swift is just as young and her returns are diminishing, despite the nominal #1 song. It is how you are perceived by teens.. Rihanna does have a built in advantage as she has had essentially two genre careers and is currently very strongly identified with the Drake sound, so as always we will see.

This is an off topic question but when people look back at this decade, what year is gonna be the quintessential year of the 2010s? For me it's 2016. I know this was awhile ago but it's definitely gonna be 2012. So many huge songs from that year that are gonna end up classics, like We Are Young, Lights, What Makes You Beautiful, We Found Love and of course Call Me Maybe. I think 2017 might actually have a decent chance too, the big hits of that year all seemed really significant (besides TWIL). Also we have no idea what 2019's gonna be like so let's not count that out.

Her returns are diminishing because of a style change, not because of her time in the spotlight, though. And she's actually been out for 12 years now. Plus, had Rihanna released an album around the time of "FFS" and "BBHMM" instead of waiting and starting the campaign over, we might be talking about her in the same way as Swift.

I will be very shocked if Rihanna's next first single doesn't debut at #1. She's gonna have to release some VERY crappy song for that to happen.

Any chance Bitch I'm Bella Throne can chart? Maybe if there's a fire video release? A couple of snippets of the song have like 27k views, but a lyrics video (not from Thorne herself) has less than 1k. Best case: Perhaps it shows up somewhere in the lower regions of the chart?

Rihanna has never debuted at #1 yet, so I'm not so sure that's going to happen this time either.
But as usual, we shall see.

Rihanna has never debuted at #1 yet, so I'm not so sure that's going to happen this time either. But as usual, we shall see. This is a prime time for it. For the first half or more of her career, #1 debuts were rare. In the past few years they've become common again because of streaming. Rihanna is one of the most streamed female artists, so I can see her debuting at #1, especially since she's coming off a successful era that includes hits for other artists' projects. Of course it will also depend on the competition.

I think she could do it. Work debut in the top 10 with less than 2 days of sales and streams back in 2016. It went to #1 even before its music video release.

I can see a Rihanna #1 debut if she releases before Drakes album. Definitely rooting for her.

Are any of the newly released K-Pop songs expected to reach Top 20 or Top 10 next week?

Are any of the newly released K-Pop songs expected to reach Top 20 or Top 10 next week? Probably not. They’ll Probably all fall out of the top of iTunes by tomorrow.

Are any of the newly released K-Pop songs expected to reach Top 20 or Top 10 next week? I can see Fake Love coming close. Music video is doing insanely well on YouTube and they’re performing it at the BBMA’s so maybe not top 10, but I think it has a fair shot at debuting top 20.

Let's remember that they are a K/J pop band so i'm sure most of the views on the view are from there.

In the meantime, "Yanny/Laurel" is totally gonna debut at #1 right? Which would actually be perfect (in one sense) as it would push "This is America" to #2.

Are any of the newly released K-Pop songs expected to reach Top 20 or Top 10 next week? In BTS fans' delusional dreams, maybe.

Rihanna wil be in her 14th year of chart popularity this year. Isn't this around the time that nagging generational shift starts to happen and we'll all be shocked when her songs aren't necessarily #1 upon release? The difference with Rihanna is she's still relatively young. When Mariah, Madonna, and others hit that 14ish year mark, they were mid-30s or older. And actually I don't know if that's the mark anyway. Mariah had a career dip 11 years in, rebounded, and then stopped having #1s at chart year 19. Madonna had a career dip about 8 years in rebounded, and then stopped having #1s about 17 years in. Whitney stopped having #1s about 11 years in, and stopped having hits 13 years in. It's also important to point out that Rihanna hasn't had automatic huge #1's right off the bat from all her albums anyway, and she has already experienced many missteps and several periods where it seemed that her career might have even been over. Rated R especially got off to a rocky start, with the lead single, Russian Roulette completely flopping, and the second single Hard only doing slightly well, and then not until a few months after the album release did Rude Boy hit #1 and seemed to save her career. And then the lead singles from her next three albums, Only Girl In The World, We Found Love, and Diamonds, though all hit #1, took a couple months to do so. Many of the singles early on in each of her album cycles also did surprisingly poorly, such as Shut Up and Drive, You Da One, and Talk That Talk, and then there was the 4 year gap between Unapologetic and Anti, with most of the non-album singles released then underperforming or flopping, and it seemed like Anti, with the constant delays and suspense, would surely flop when it came out, if it even ever did, but then it was surprisingly huge. So I guess it goes to show that despite all these missteps and ups and downs, her career has remained remarkably steadfast, and I would say rather surprisingly, very strong over a long time. Almost every artist experiences these types of career trajectories to some degree, and they don't always have a single stretch of success that lasts 5 or ten or 15 years or whatever. They can also have little pockets of success here and there, as well as comebacks of course, occasionally even more than one. Cher is a prime example of this as she first hit it big (her music career) in the mid-60s to mid-70s, was quiet for about a decade, then re-emerged in the late 80s around the Heart of Stone era, went away again, and then had one more huge comeback with Believe in '99.

How is it that Call Out My Name is doing so poorly in airplay? Lots of stations have just started to play it because Pray For Me was getting large amounts of play.
