Is there a reason why the top 10 is so weak right now? I remember when Closer had the weakest digital sales with 82k during it's final week at #1, now the weakest is around 30k which is insane to me. Digital sales are dead. Streaming is really powering the charts right now and I guess most of the top songs at the moment are clinging on because of streaming and nothing else and that's why they are weak. I don't know, the charts are so weird right now, even radio is acting strange, pop had a very hard time this past weekend and it might be because radio isn't playing anything aside from the same five songs.

Isn't streaming the reason songs like Despacito are staying at the top longer? Yeah, chart runs are substantially longer now. All these longevity records are falling every week. Streaming has changed the charts in many ways, for sure, but more variety isn't one of them. (And btw, I'm from Latin America and and I chuckled at "Desburrito". It's just a song.) Agreed. We have so many long running #1 songs in the past three years when streaming became the dominant force There was more quick turnover at #1 when digital downloads took off big time like in 2006-2008.

It's also because with downloads you could purchase the song on it's debut week and still be playing it 10 weeks into it's release, and yet chart-wise, you only "helped" the song on it's first week. I can't say that was 100% accurate either, even if it made for more interesting charts.

But many are excited that a self-proclaimed homophobic gay basher/alleged woman beater may hit #1 on this week's chart. In that context and hateful environment, a crude joke is small compared to those types actions. Fortunately, we live in a country where people have the right to choose what music they want to hear. Some people could care less about what the person has done, it's the music. Many people are just discovering X and they listen to see what all the fuss is about. Maybe you can't separate music and personal issues from the artist, but most people can.

Omg. You guys needs to stop this. Your guys personality about my word choice seriously is making me lmao. I totally agree with Gary that I NEVER MEANT TO BE RACIST!! Ok, I have heard that intrepertation about the song a million times and never have once thought it as “racist”. So I’m sorry to spring anyone off in the chat discussion and will remove my post off the discussion board. I apologize again. Thank you Don't worry about it. That person was being way over dramatic. I think most people here didn't even think of it as racism. I just thought it was a quick joke.

No need for your casual racism Thank you. When I saw the word "Desburrito", I felt an evil force come through me. I felt scared, upset, HURT. I was shaking. It really upset me to see those letters, in that order, show up on my screen. It needs to be stopped. Millions of people suffer from jokes like this. People say "Just ignore it", well I can't. You can't "just ignore" a some letters that pop up on your screen. People say "It's just a word". It's not "just a word". It has big effects on you and it's a form of violence and needs to be made illegal and criminalised. People who make racist jokes need to be put into prison! This has to stop, and thank you for protecting me. Just to be clear, this was sarcasm right?

I like Sad and I wouldn't be mad if this week wasn't the only chance for I Like It to go to #1 before Drake album bomb BUT...

The initial scores weren't good, but it has been improving. Can you please give a link to where I can check them?

Sad! being #1. Ironically, how sad! The good news is I like it can always take it next week. Te bad news is that i wanted I like it to hit #1 without a discount and for Maroon 5 to discount it's song to replace I like it the following week before Drake comes through
Maybe I like it or Girls like you will have to discount the week after drake's release once the streams fall a bit after debut week.

Imagine if he had passed earlier in the week, SAD! would have been a very strong #1.

What do you guys think about "Legends" by Juice WRLD's chances of hitting the Hot 100?
It's a song he wrote for XXXTentacion.
I'm not sure how many platforms it's actually available on though.

With the possibility of a #1 hit by XXXTentacion let's take a look at others who have scored #1 hits after they passed:
Otis Redding --- (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay (1968) Janis Joplin --- Me and Bobby McGee (1971) Jim Croce --- Time In A Bottle (1973) John Lennon ---(Just Like) Starting Over (1981) Notorious BIG ---- Hypnotize (1997) Notorious BIG -----Mo Money Mo Problems (1997) Soulja Slim --- Slow Motion (2004) Static Major --- Lollipop (2008)

Some of you like to financially support rapists and murderers and allow their celebrity to continue so that they can take advantage of more people. We get it.

I disagree with the "financial support" argument. It is like suddenly with the fraction of a cent that an artist gets from a stream will make or break someone's finances.

Most of XXXTentacion's crimes are alleged. Innocent until proven guilty.

It doesn't apply to XXX from what I know, but it does to R Kelly. A large reason R Kelly is able to lure so many young women is his fame. Therefore people listening to and buying his music literally aids his crimes because the thing that gives him power over the young girls is something caused by the public. Take away R Kelly's fame, and he wouldn't have been able to do a lot of the things he did.
