Not much will care about this but how come BLACKPINK's DDU-DU DDU-DU is expected to debut in the Hot 100, but the other well-know K-Pop girl group hit this year (which is Momoland's Bboom Bboom) is not, even in Bubbling Under? |

Not much will care about this but how come BLACKPINK's DDU-DU DDU-DU is expected to debut in the Hot 100, but the other well-know K-Pop girl group hit this year (which is Momoland's Bboom Bboom) is not, even in Bubbling Under? as someone who frequently dabbles in kpop, BLACKPINK has one of the biggest western fanbases in kpop. they probably have the biggest US fanbase for a kpop girl group right now. if not them, Red Velvet. |

I don't mean to sound insensitive but I'd like to see SAD! at #1 too only for the mess that will ensue on the internet. I like some of X's songs and he was really talented but I'm no diehard fan by any means. I was shocked when I read about his death but that was pretty much it. I don't think I've ever witnessed an artist getting his first #1 posthumously so it'd be... uhm, interesting to see that for a lack of better word. Especially if we take into account his controversial image, it'd be kind of a bittersweet epilogue to both his family and the people who've been following him and found solace in his music. Not that a #1 will make any difference but it'd be nice for them to see that at the end of the day, he still got recognised for his music despite his awful reputation as a person. I Like It is not exactly my cup of tea but I'm rooting for Cardi in general so it'd be nice for her to get another #1. It just sucks that so much happened in music this past week and unfortunately there will only be one winner. We'll see.

even if it doesn't get the #1 on monday, i like it is definitely getting it the new week.. airplay is rising like crazy.. streams are steady and it's gonna get its highest sales week this week..

I feel like Cardi will feel bad and cheap that she blocked XXX from getting his first and only number one because of his death. Like how do you celebrate winning/getting number one and blockin XXX I hope as a woman, Cardi B will not care about this misogynistic, homophobic trashy excuse for a human or his Billboard Hot 100 accomplishments. I like Cardi, but it's really doubtful she'll celebrated to the extent that XXXTentacion will be in the next decade, or have the same type of impact. I know many here are still very happy that an artist they didn't like was shot to death, but "Sad!" going #1 would be a cathartic historical moment. "Celebrated to the extent that XXX will be in the next decade", you have got to be kidding. This homophobic, woman-hating thug does not have the following that you think he has. Hopefully, the public will forget about him and his music quickly. |

yeah I Like It is such a formulaic song. and I agree with Melinda that SAD! going to number 1 would be a cultural moment, and would be linked to a tragic death. Cultural how? Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Holly, Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Ian Curtis, Biggie Smalls, Chester Bennington, Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Cliff Burton, etc. I could go on and on but you get the point. His death will be a huge part in how we remember X 20 years from now and I do believe he will be loved and remembered for decades to come. That was my point, his death will make him a cultural icon. Disregard what I said about I Like It and just focus on X. If SAD! goes number 1 this week, he will join the small lists of artists with a posthumous #1 hit. He will have a defining song you can put to his name. Because he is now gone, I don't think the song will be forgotten. I don't think his other big hits will be forgotten. X has left a massive legacy and he will be romanticized by our culture. That's just how it is. Expect his biopic in 25 years. Expect to see "XXXTentacion Murdered ___ Years Ago" articles every year. Hell, expect him to be considered the frontrunner of the Soundcloud scene, kinda like how Kurt Cobain is seen as the frontman of the entire grunge scene.
