It peaked at #7 on Billboard in February of 2003. It spent three nonconsecutive weeks at #8 on R&R. The song was written by Brad with longtime songwriter collaborator Chris DuBois.
I know this song is a slow ballad but the melody is great for this type of song and the lyrics are terrific. The production is spot-on. It brings up a significant other in the lyrics but the message also fits for a parent to their son or daughter leaving home, my dad and mom love it for that reason. Sony likely wouldn't even try this at radio nowadays but it's a beautiful song and definitely one of Brad's best. Probably his most underrated top 10 hit.

Well said. The melody here is fairly strong, but the lyrics really set it apart. I love how raw and melancholy it is, while also being mature and honest. Lyrically, I put it up against just about anything Brad has released. I'm kind of surprised it didn't make it higher, though i can see where some might find it boring (not sure how it's bottom 5 material though).

I love Brad but somehow had completely forgotten about "I Wish You'd Stay" until listening to the songs again for this rankdown. This song is just so good and I am happy to have had the opportunity to re-discover it!

#40. Toby Keith (feat. Willie Nelson) - "Beer For My Horses"
Total Points: 1,043 Average: 52.1 Year Released: April, 2003 Radio & Records Peak: #1 Billboard Peak: #1 Rankings:bboat11 - 12 g8erboi - 17 someguy - 17 tim - 25 austin - 26 rgreen0625 - 27 gardyfan - 31 kw9461 - 40 CoJoFan - 44 .indulgecountry - 53 d3vin44 - 57 Cody Wants Out... - 58 collinkottke - 61 bigfan101 - 62 sabre14 - 70 Kanenrá:ke - 75 LBTrocks - 80 toomuchboy - 80 castleoblivion26 - 97 zaclord 🌈 - 111 Following: carriefan15@crapkuki23 "Beer For My Horses" was officially released as the fourth and final single off Toby Keith's album Unleashed in April of 2003. The song peaked at #1 for four weeks on R&R in June/July. The song spent a few weeks on the chart for unsolicited airplay during the chart run for "Rock You Baby". After the song pushed its way into the 40's, the demand was there and DreamWorks cut short the chart run for "Rock You Baby" in favor of "Beer For My Horses."
The song is now known as one of Toby's signature hits and the song inspired a 2008 movie of the same title in 2008, starring Toby and Willie Nelson. The single made Willie Nelson the oldest country artist to top the chart at age 70.
The music video features a crime investigation featuring actor Corin Nemec.
This song got severely overplayed but I still enjoy it. It was definitely during Toby's prime in the 2000's.

Oops, I overranked this one!
There have been a few songs that I've been able to enjoy again after being once burnt out on them, but "Beer for My Horses" and "My Front Porch Looking In" are not a part of them.

Up at #38, one of the more polarizing songs of the rankdown. Six top 10 rankings but four rankings in the 100's as well...

#33. Shania Twain - "Up!"
Total Points: 979 Average: 48.2 Year Released: January, 2003 Radio & Records Peak: #11 Billboard Peak: #12 Rankings: someguy - 6 .indulgecountry - 16 Cody Wants Out... - 21 sabre14 - 24 toomuchboy - 26 bboat11 - 29 castleoblivion26 - 30 d3vin44 - 30 LBTrocks - 37 tim - 46 austin - 48 CoJoFan - 52 zaclord 🌈 - 53 rgreen0625 - 59 bigfan101 - 60 gardyfan - 74 Kanenrá:ke - 78 collinkottke - 93 g8erboi - 96 kw9461 - 101 Following: carriefan15@crapkuki23 Thanks to Dug from the movie Up for the clue lol. "Up!" was the second single off Shania Twain's album of the same name in January of 2003. It peaked at #11 on R&R in February-March, where it stayed for 4 weeks. If anyone knows the album, Shania had a green and red version of every song. The green was the standard country version and the red version was a pop rendition. There was also a release of a blue international version.
Shania is comfort since I grew up listening to her 90's material as a little kid and her concert in 2003 here was the first one I ever went to. I really enjoyed this song. It's definitely not going to be confused with a groundbreaking piece of material but it's fun with a catchy melody and a relatable message.

I thought "Up!" would make top 25. There's a few more I'm hoping go soon, but this is a strong top 30.

I am really surprised my #1 is still in, but extremely happy it is. Also surprised a few others hang around. Love You Out Loud is one of RF's best, so it escaped my bottom 5!
Pretty good top 30 but I absolutely hate one of these songs, though unlike "Alyssa Lies," I am not blindsided by the love its receiving.
