The cherry on top of this rankdown would be if the #1 song had no #1's. I'm happy for She Let Herself Go though and already waiting for the album tracks rankdown to rank Texas #1 again. ☺

"She Let Herself Go" has an incredible hook. The correct song won. Not keen on the other two singles they went with from the album at country radio, but they at least got that one right.

I knew I'd be the lowest ranking participant for "She Let Herself Go" but that's really only because I happen to enjoy a lot of the album tracks more and find that I revisit them the most. It's interesting because while I know that this still receives recurrent airplay I can't say that I recall George including this in his setlist much over the years. A quick look online at his past setlist's and he actually only included it on his tour in 2006 and didn't sing it live again until 2017 which considering I've seen him a handful of times since 2005 and never heard him sing this I'd say that's probably about right. I think we can all agree that George's favorite song from the album is probably "The Seashores of Old Mexico" I'm really looking forward to the next two albums because while If You Ain't Lovin' You Ain't Livin' isn't considered one of George's best albums I think his voice sounds about as smooth and crisp as ever...and the man just sounds so fine on this record

I always thought Honkytonkville was underrated so I'll be interested in seeing these results.

I'm in. Really don't know hardly either of these two albums. Looking forward to digging in.
Still can't believe Seashores of Old Mexico did so poorly. Was that the first single in the Rankdown to NOT make the Top 5?

Was that the first single in the Rankdown to NOT make the Top 5? Oh no, it isn't that unusual for singles to miss the top 5. "Down And Out" finished at #8 in Strait Country. "You're Something Special To Me" finished clear back at #9 in the Something Special album. "River Of Love" finished at #7 for Troubadour. "The Breath You Take" finished at #9 for Twang. "I Believe" finished waaaaaay back at #12 in the Love Is Everything rankdown. And "Let It Go" finished at #6 for Cold Beer Conversation. So that is almost half of the albums finishing with a hit outside the top 5. Still feels a little weird when it happens though!

I can see where The Breath You Take and especially You're Something Special To Me fell out of the Top 5. I understand how I Believe wasn't a great single, but I don't think it is a godawful song - just not something people probably want to hear on the radio. And I think the I Love Everything album was particularly strong. Looking forward to this next rankdown!

I am so sorry bboat11; I've been in a slump these past several days. I'll make an attempt to knock both of these out tomorrow if I'm not too busy this weekend.

I just submitted mine. If You Aint Loving was a very different album from many of his earlier ones. Not bad, just different. Will be interested to see how people rank that one

1) What will be #1? Famous Last Words Of A Fool
2) What will be #10? I have no clue. It could be almost anything but the 3 singles.
3) Which songs belong in the top 5? Famous Last Words Of A Fool, Bigger Man Than Me, If You Ain't Lovin' (You Ain't Livin'), Under These Conditions and perhaps Let's Get Down To It
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most - NOT. A. CLUE. Least - Famous Last Words
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (Famous Last Words Of A Fool, Baby Blue, If You Ain't Lovin' (You Ain't Livin')) Famous at #1
6) Do any of the singles have a chance of missing the top 5? I could see either of the other two missing the Top 5
7) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? Under These Conditions in the Top 3
8) Any other thoughts/predictions? I'm thinking there won't be a lot of agreement on this one.

1) What will be #1? Baby Blue2) What will be #10? Let's Get Down to It? 3) Which songs belong in the top 5? The singles, Back to Bein Me, Under These Conditions 4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most- Maybe Fool, Least- Baby Blue5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (Famous Last Words Of A Fool, Baby Blue, If You Ain't Lovin' (You Ain't Livin')) Baby Bluuuuue #1 6) Do any of the singles have a chance of missing the top 5? Probably not 7) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? I'm sure whatever it is, it will make the top 4 8) Any other thoughts/predictions? I've always loved Baby Blue and Baby's Gotten Good at Goodbye... But did anyone else as a child think George also sang Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On?

1) What will be #1? “Baby Blue” 2) What will be #10? "Is It That Time Again" or "Let's Get Down To It" 3) Which songs belong in the top 5? "Baby Blue" for sure and I also think the title track belongs here...while I do enjoy "Famous Last Words of a Fool" I'd actually like to see some of the album tracks make it in including "Under These Conditions", "Bigger Man Than Me", and "Back to Bein' Me" 4) What song will be most polarizing? The title track Least polarizing? “Baby Blue” 5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? “Baby Blue” and #1 6) Do any of the singles have a chance of missing the top 5? The title track would be the only one that could possibly miss the top 5 but I still think all three singles will make it in 7) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? I'm hoping it'll be "Under These Conditions" in the top 3 but I could also see "Bigger Man Than Me" doing well 8) Any other thoughts/predictions? I've long viewed this album as one of his more underappreciated records from the 80's and as gonecountry mentioned it's quite different sonically from anything he previously released so I'm really interested to see everyone's opinion on the songs. Personally, I love this album and it's one I revisit quite a bit because at only 30 minutes long it's easy to put on and listen to all the way through but also I've long thought this album captured George's voice when it was at its smoothest as he just sounds heavenly 8) Any other thoughts/predictions? I've always loved Baby Blue and Baby's Gotten Good at Goodbye... But did anyone else as a child think George also sang Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On? Well other than "Baby's Gotten Good at Goodbye" being on another album I can't say I've ever gotten George confused with singing "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On" lol

"Is It That Time Again" was not always the primary last place contender, but once it got there with about 1/4 of the submission period left, it never looked back. I definitely think people probably found this song boring. The verses are definitely a bit boring in my opinion, but when I was making my list the chorus really resonated with me. Although tbh I don't really care for any of the album tracks from this album other than one, so I am totally fine seeing this leave first.

It's too late now for "It's Too Late Now", which bows out at #9. It was the primary #10 contender for this rankdown, but managed to be saved by Cody Wants Out...'s #7 and then the last 3 submitters putting it at 5, 6, and 7. I can never decide if this song is good or annoying. With the verses I lean more towards annoying, but when the chorus kicks in I lean more towards good. My assessment when I ranked this album was overall positive, as it ended up at #7 for me! But just like the last song, I don't really care. This outcome is fine!
