Um I honestly always thought Where the Sidewalk Ends was a single. I guess because it’s used so heavily in the movie.

I don’t know what it is about the Easy Come Easy Go album cover, but I just love it so much. His dog Buster of course had a cameo in the movie Pure Country, so it probably only seemed right to feature him in it for this album shoot! It should also be noted that although Buster is not visible in the album cover for Lead On he is actually sitting right under George’s leg!

Oh, you didn't forget about these already I hope!!! These have been open for a couple weeks, so it's time for our first reminder!
Since I needed to extend Martina, I have chosen to put her on the 4th and then push these albums back by a week. So the new deadline for George will be Sunday, October 11th! Hopefully that's enough time for y'all to squeeze him in :) I'd still like to finish this album series by the end of the year, and it's still doable as long as we don't procrastinate past the deadline!

Easy Come Easy Go Rankdown: Results Time!
Final Participant List: (12)
1. tim2. bboat113. George Strait Junkie4. castleoblivion265. gardyfan6. .indulgecountry7. gonecountry8. fearlessarrow9. taylor is terrified10. Cody Wants Out...11. LBTrocks12. ClevelandRoxIf any last-minute stragglers try to come in overnight or tomorrow morning, I'll still take them. Otherwise, this is what we've got! We'll start tomorrow afternoon/evening after those who want to make predictions have had a chance to do so!
Questions to get us started:
1) What will be #1?
2) What will be #10?
3) Which songs belong in the top 5?
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing?
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (Easy Come, Easy Go, I'd Like To Have That One Back, Lovebug, The Man In Love With You)
6) Do any of the singles have a chance of missing the top 5?
7) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place?
8) Which album tracks would you prefer to see do the best?
9) Any other thoughts/predictions?

1) What will be #1? The title track should be considered the frontrunner, but my feeling is that there's an outside chance of either an album track winning or "I'd Like to Have That One Back"
2) What will be #10? "We Must Be Loving Right"
3) Which songs belong in the top 5? Both "Easy Come, Easy Go" and "I'd Like to Have That One Back" are locks for the top five leaving the other two "Lovebug" and "The Man in Love With You" as wildcards. Of the album tracks I'd pick "Stay Out of My Arms", "Without Me Around", and "Just Look at Me" as contenders.
4) What song will be most polarizing? "Lovebug" Least polarizing? "We Must Be Loving Right"
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? "Easy Come, Easy Go" in the top two followed by "I'd Like To Have That One Back" in the top three at a minimum
6) Do any of the singles have a chance of missing the top 5? "Lovebug" if only because it dang near placed down in the bottom ten in George's singles rankdown
7) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? "Stay Out of My Arms" and possibly in the top three
8) Which album tracks would you prefer to see do the best? Personally I've always adored "Without Me Around" so I'm hoping that at least makes the top five
9) Any other thoughts/predictions? This was very likely a first-time listen for the majority of you and because of that I'm not entirely sure what to expect with these results. I personally consider this record to be one of the three main core Strait albums that had a very early influence on me as a young boy (the others being Chill of An Early Fall and Pure Country), so I know these songs like the back of my hand. 1993 also happened to be the year that I got to see George for the first time in Lincoln, Nebraska, although I was so young that I only have vague memories of that show.

1) What will be #1? "Easy Come, Easy Go" or possibly "I'd Like to Have That One Back"
2) What will be #10? "We Must Be Loving Right"
3) Which songs belong in the top 5? "Easy Come, Easy Go" and "I'd Like to Have That One Back" are the two single locks for the top five, IMO. I can see "Lovebug" not making it, though I really enjoyed it.
4) What song will be most polarizing? "Lovebug" by far Least polarizing? "Easy Come, Easy Go"
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? "Easy Come, Easy Go" at #1
6) Do any of the singles have a chance of missing the top 5? "Lovebug" and perhaps "The Man in Love With You" lands at number five
7) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? "Without Me Around" or "I Wasn't Fooling Around" - hopefully one of those can sneak in the top 3
8) Which album tracks would you prefer to see do the best? "I Wasn't Fooling Around"
9) Any other thoughts/predictions? Good album. I thought the album cuts were stronger than a couple of the singles.

As both of our predictors predicted, album closer "We Must Be Loving Right" is indeed the first song to leave. In fact, it had absolutely no competition whatsoever. It is over 25 points lower than the #9 song, which is quite a hefty gap for such a small rankdown. By now y'all have probably caught on that this type of jazzy Sinatra-esque ballad is my least favorite sound from King George. It's not that he does a bad job with them, it's just that the songs themselves do absolutely nothing for me. This style plods, and the chords are weird, and honestly unless you are slow dancing or something there is absolutely no reason to ever put these types of songs on. Half of us put this in our last place here, while nobody put it in their top half, helping this to be our least polarizing song, just like tim predicted.

I met her in that honkytonk. I thought that she would change. But now I see just how much I was wrong. ‘Though we both tried, our love still died, And now she’s gone from me. Back to the only life she’s known.

One thing that George tends to a great job of is putting something memorable into his arrangements to help average songs stand out more than they otherwise would. In this song, it is the pounding of the drums between each line of the chorus! That is an arrangement choice that has always helped me to enjoy this song more than I otherwise might have, because it is just so oddly catchy.
Men being in hot water with their ladies because they spend too much time out drinking in the bar is a very common and cliched theme in country, but this song takes that stereotype and turns it over on its head, which is kind of a cool switching of gender roles! Women can have flaws and vices, and men can have emotions, and you've gotta love men like George who are willing to break those norms every once in awhile!! It's not a somber and powerful portrayal a la "Neon Row" from a couple sets ago, but the straightforward country vibe of this song gives it enough charm to at least get four top 5 ranks out of us!

I find "I Wasn't Fooling Around" to be pretty catchy. However, I have no idea what tf George is trying to do with that last note!!!! It's like he starts sustaining it without actually having an exit strategy for what he wants to do with the note, so he just kinda noodles around blindly until he finally finds a stopping point. Clearly that's not the case since they would have rerecorded it if they didn't want it, but....I have always had trouble fully getting into the song because of that Nevertheless, it did well enough to grab a #2 rank from gonecountry and a #3 from .indulgecountry. tim also loses his last place.

While the previous reveals have all been plain straightforward album tracks imo, I have always considered "Just Look At Me" to be one of the potential missed hit opportunities from this album. In classic George fashion, that hook stays with you with its clever simplicity. "One look at you, and just look at me!" It's brilliant. The melody of this song is also unique, and makes great use of George's higher range. It was a top 5 contender at first, where it belonged, but it accumulated enough lower ranks along the way to make it more of a middling contender.
