Songs always have ridiculously high sales on those weeks so whatever was #1 (Locked Out Of Heaven?) probably had crazy high sales as well, and I think it wasn't on Spotify either which counted for about 20% of the Hot 100 at the time. Not being on Spotify doesn't mean it's impossible to get #1, I'm think Taylor herself managed it with Blank Space, but it makes it a good deal harder.

That was the week of the Christmas sales rush so all songs were up quite a bit. The #1 that week was Locked Out of Heaven, which IIRC was #2 in digital sales with 400k+ that week as well. LOOH was also ahead in airplay and streaming that week as well, so it all combined to keep the track ahead of IKYWT. IIRC, it isn't the only 500k+ song to miss #1, though! Bieber's "Boyfriend" also missed debuting at #1 to fun.'s "We Are Young" due to streaming. Oddly enough, it was one of the first few weeks of streaming being on the chart too.

^ Second straight week of In My Feelings having over 2x the points of I Like It. This is incredible. Sales, radio and streaming monster. There's a whole article from Billboard about this chart phenomenon. Whitney Houston holds the record with 9 straight weeks from "I Will Always Love You." That song was a monster.

It'll have spent two weeks with 2x the points of I Like It by today when the charts are announced. Might do it again for this tracking week's chart and that will only continue once the video drops and gives it a huge boost. How many songs are doing/have done that this year/decade?

I hope Billboard doesn't name this song the song of the decade, ugg. We Found Love should be the song of the decade I love We Found Love, but for a song released around the peak of the digital era, it's digital sales are great but a little underwhelming. I don't think it's even in the top 50 of digital songs, it has around 5.5 million.

The fact that it hit #2 is huge but it should've been bigger - it eclipsed "Love Story" as her biggest worldwide hit at the time.

Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line's 'Meant to Be' Breaks Record For Longest Rule in Hot Country Songs Chart's History
7/30/2018 by Jim Asker
The song reigns for a 35th week, passing the No. 1 run of Sam Hunt's 'Body Like a Back Road' in 2017.
Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line claim the record for the longest-ruling No. 1 in the history of Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, which began as an all-encompassing genre songs survey in 1958, as "Meant to Be" (released on Warner Bros./Big Machine Label Group) logs its 35th week in the penthouse on the Aug. 4-dated list. The song passes Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road," which led for 34 weeks in 2017.
"Meant" has spent its entire run at No. 1, dating to its arrival at the summit on the Dec. 16, 2017-dated chart, which blends airplay, streaming and sales data.
Rexha and FGL's Tyler Hubbard wrote "Meant" with Josh Miller and David Garcia. "I'm so honored to be a writer and an artist on this song," Hubbard tells Billboard. "I'm thankful to just be one of the many people who put so much energy and effort into making music history. Now, it's time to get back in the studio and try to break the new record."
Duo partner Brian Kelley adds, "The power of music continues to blow our minds, and we are extremely humbled and thankful that 'Meant' has spent the better part of a year at the top. The connection we feel with our fans through our music is extra special with this song. Bebe and her camp were a blast to work with."
Beneath "Meant" and "Back Road," FGL boasts the third- and fifth-longest commands on Hot Country Songs: debut hit "Cruise" ruled for 24 weeks in 2012-13 and "H.O.L.Y." dominated for 18 weeks in 2016. (Leroy Van Dyke's "Walk on By" ranks fourth with 19 weeks at No. 1 in 1961-62.)
As the duo has ownership of three of the five longest-leading Hot Country Songs No. 1s, BMLG executive vice president Jimmy Harnen says, "For Florida Georgia Line to have three in the top five is absolutely nuclear. We send out a big thank you to all of the believers."
Says Rexha, "I'm grateful to be able to create music that allows me to push limits and push myself. I'm grateful for all the love and warmth from the country community [and give] credit to country greats who influenced me: Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and so many more. Here's to writing with your heart and breaking boundaries."
"Meant" crowns Country Streaming Songs for a 31st week (13.4 million U.S. streams, according to Nielsen Music) and holds at No. 6 on Country Digital Song Sales (10,000 sold), which it led for 22 frames. "Meant" also topped the Country Airplay chart dated April 28. Dually promoted to country and pop radio, it led Adult Pop Songs for two weeks and the all-genre Radio Songs chart for five frames.

There might be errors in the article. This chart has been in its current format since 2012 not 1958. (4 of the top 5 are less than 6 years old)
The country chart began I believe in 1944

There might be errors in the article. This chart has been in its current format since 2012 not 1958. (4 of the top 5 are less than 6 years old) The country chart began I believe in 1944 Billboard is a mess when it comes to talking about their country charts. When they came out with the new Hot Country Songs chart (airplay + sales + streaming) in October 2012 they screwed everything up. Previously there had only been one chart, Hot Country Songs, but now we have Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay. The problem here is that from 1990 to October 2012, the Hot Country Songs chart was airplay-only. And so now they're trying to compare achievements over the last 6 years with achievements from the airplay-only version of HCS. It makes no sense. Previously, when the HCS chart was based on airplay alone, Billboard's country editors would always count everything from before 1990 as well. But now when they make mention of Country Airplay records, they don't count anything from before 1990. All achievements from prior to 1990 now only count as part of the history of the HCS chart. And anything that peaked between 1990 and Oct 2012 is credited with that peak position on both Country Airplay AND Hot Country Songs, even though the two charts were one in the same for all those years (basically, there was only one chart, and it was airplay only, but it was called Hot Country Songs. Now it's been retroactively renamed Country Airplay). Billboard always neglects to mention that the HCS chart was airplay-only for so many years. They never mention the new methodology that they applied to the HCS chart starting in Oct 2012. So as a result, we have people (including Billboard employees themselves) saying that artists like Florida Georgia Line and Sam Hunt have spent more weeks at #1 on Hot Country Songs than people like George Strait and Garth Brooks...and that's an absolutely laughable thing to say.
