Country Airplay This Week Last Week Two Weeks Ago Weeks Title, Artist Peak 12 1 2 23 I Was Jack (You Were Diane) , Jake Owen 1 Wow, this is a particularly steep drop, even for the Country Airplay #1 (I wonder if there's a special story behind this particular song falling so hard). In fact I wonder if this is the largest drop ever on the Country Airplay chart/Country Songs chart when it was airplay only?

^I'm not sure about your question. But it seems that most recent Country Airplay #1s rise to #1 just to fall the following week.

News
By Gary Trust | August 08, 2018 10:41 AM EDT Khalid Normani
Plus, debuts for Logic, Ryan Tedder and Yella Beezy.
As previously reported, Drake's viral challenge-fueled "In My Feelings" logs a fourth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Aug. 11). The smash is from Drake's album Scorpion, which rules the Billboard 200 chart for a fifth week.
Plus, DJ Khaled's "No Brainer," featuring Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper and Quavo, launches at No. 5 on the Hot 100. The song follows the foursome's "I'm the One" (also featuring Lil Wayne), which topped the Hot 100 dated May 20, 2017.
Additionally in the Hot 100's top 10, two Migos members share space: Quavo, on "No Brainer" at No. 5, and Offset, as featured on Tyga's "Taste," which rises 10-9.
Who else makes noteworthy Hot 100 chart moves this week?

At first I was all behind the genre charts and their "Hot 100" hybrid formulae, but now I am beginning to worry. Despacito at #1 and Chainsmokers at #3 on their respective charts after 18 months just feels wrong.
But what to do?

8/8/2018 by Gary Trust
Maroon 5 notches its record-extending 13th No. 1 on Billboard's Adult Pop Songs radio airplay chart (dated Aug. 11), as "Girls Like You" rises 2-1. The song, which has drawn buzz for its star-studded video, marks the first leader on the list for featured artist Cardi B. ("Girls" was originally released as by only Maroon 5 on the band's 2017 album Red Pill Blues.)
Maroon 5 pads its mark over runner-up P!nk, who has posted nine No. 1s, for the most in the history of the survey (which launched in the pages of Billboard in 1996). Katy Perry ranks third with eight Adult Pop Songs No. 1s, followed by Taylor Swift (seven) and Adele and Nickelback (five each).

Shakira and Maluma's 'Clandestino' Hits Hot Latin Songs Chart's Top 10
8/8/2018 by Pamela Bustios
Shakira earns her 29th top 10, extending her record among women.
Shakira and Maluma's "Clandestino" lands in the top 10 of Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart (dated Aug. 11), jumping 14-9.
The track's rise is fueled largely by its streaming gain, with a 43 percent boost to 4.7 million in the week ending Aug. 2, according to Nielsen Music. The gain was sparked by the song's official video, which arrived July 27, impacting its performance during its first tracking week.
Shakira extends her record for the most Hot Latin Songs top 10s among women to 29. She pads her lead over runner-up Gloria Estefan, with 23. Likewise, Shakira ties Cristian Castro and Chayanne for the third-most top 10s overall. Luis Miguel leads all artists with 39, followed by Enrique Iglesias with 38.

For Maluma, the rise grants him his ninth Hot Latin Songs top 10.
While Shakira last charted in the tally's top 10 in 2017 with "Perro Fiel" (featuring Nicky Jam), which peaked at No. 6 in December, Maluma posts his third top 10 this year: "Corazón," with Nego do Borel, hit No. 5 in January and "El Prestamo," the second single off his sophomore effort, F.A.M.E., reached No. 10 in June (and remains in the top 20 this week).
Fonseca's Sixth Tropical Songs Top 10: Elsewhere, Colombian singer-songwriter Fonseca logs his sixth top 10 on the Tropical Songs radio airplay chart, as "Simples Corazones" climbs 16-10 following the release of a remix featuring Spanish pop singer Melendi July 6. The title ascends with a 69 percent increase in airplay in the week ending Aug. 5.
Fonseca last reached the top 10 region with “Vine a Buscarte,” which rose to No. 6 in Jan. 2017.

At first I was all behind the genre charts and their "Hot 100" hybrid formulae, but now I am beginning to worry. Despacito at #1 and Chainsmokers at #3 on their respective charts after 18 months just feels wrong. But what to do? Nothing, the only reason they've stuck around is because their respective genres are in weak spots. The genre charts have a super-recurrency much stricter than the Hot 100's: if you're past 52 weeks, falling below the top 5 equals an exit. But rock, EDM, and Latin are all struggling to pull off the hat trick. Rock Songs 01 - Thunder - 67 weeks on - Hot 100 Recurrent 02 - Believer - 79 weeks on - Hot 100 Recurrent 03 - Whatever It Takes - 57 weeks on - #37 04 - Feel it Still - 74 weeks on - Hot 100 Recurrent 05 - Natural - 3 weeks on - #42 06 - Sit Next to Me - 46 weeks on - #48 Natural was only a minor top 40; rock's gonna need a bunch of songs to go top 50 simultaneously to shove these off. EDM Songs 01 - The Middle - 28 weeks on - #17 02 - One Kiss - 18 weeks on - #30 03 - Something Just Like This - 76 weeks on - Hot 100 Recurrent 04 - Solo - 11 weeks on - #58 05 - Jackie Chan - 11 weeks on - #61 06 - Remind Me to Forget - 20 weeks on - #74 07 - Side Effects - 2 weeks on - #87 It looks like it'll take a top 50 storming to get SJLT out, but that may be on the horizon as Side Effects grows and Solo and Jackie Chan continue pace. Latin Songs 01 - Despacito - 81 weeks on - Hot 100 Recurrent 02 - Te Bote - 15 weeks on - #41 03 - X (Equis) - 22 weeks on - Hot 100 Recurrent 04 - Sin Pijama - 15 weeks on - #70 05 - Dura - 28 weeks on - Hot 100 Recurrent 06 - Unica - 14 weeks on - #101 Mi Gente actually got super-recurrent-ed out this week. I suspect once Despacito stops being memes this summer it'll have enough of a dropoff that this relatively strong upcoming crop will kill it.

^I'd say Christian Songs is probably is one of the most slowly churning charts. Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) has the record with 61 non-consecutive weeks at #1 spread from 2013 to 2016 which I don't think any other song in any other genre chart would be close to matching.

Amazing.

In case anyone is tracking this is Drake's 23rd week at #1 this year
Numbers to shoot for:
In 2009, The Black Eyed Peas were at #1 for 26 weeks In 2004, Usher was #1 for 28 weeks

It seems that Believer will challenge Radioactive's record if no 25/52 rule. Amazing. I'm not exactly sure but I do recall that for the genre charts based on the Hot 100s formula a different recurrent rule. I think it is a 5/52 rule for charts that are 50 positions deep. That's how Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) reached 191 weeks in Christian Songs.

I must point back once more to the Hot Rock itself: Believer is ahead of Whatever it Takes, which is #37 on the Hot 100 this week. Barring potentially the Drake or Post album bomb weeks, it looks like Believer would've held on this whole time.

Twenty One Pilots' 'Jumpsuit' Rules Rock Airplay Chart 8/9/2018 by Kevin Rutherford The song follows "Stressed Out" & "Heathens" as the duo's third No. 1.
Despite losing the lead on Billboard's Alternative Songs airplay chart to Weezer's "Africa" after a two-week reign, twenty one pilots' "Jumpsuit" leaps to No. 1 on the all-rock-format Rock Airplay ranking (dated Aug. 11), up 5 percent to 10.8 million audience impressions in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music.
"Jumpsuit" is the duo's third No. 1 on the list, following "Heathens" (nine weeks beginning in September 2016) and "Stressed Out" (seven, 2015-16).
The coronation of "Jumpsuit" is fueled by gains at all rock radio formats. Despite falling to No. 2 on Alternative Songs, "Jumpsuit" increases in overall spins at the format by 4 percent. It also nears the top 20 on Mainstream Rock Songs, bumping 24-21 (up 22 percent), and is bubbling under Adult Alternative Songs.
"Jumpsuit" is the lead single from Trench, twenty one pilots' fifth studio album, due Oct. 5. It's one of three songs released from the record so far, along with "Nico and the Niners" and "Levitate."

Zedd, Maren Morris & Grey's 'The Middle' Ties for Most Weeks at No. 1 on Hot Dance/ Electronic Songs Chart 8/9/2018 by Gordon Murray
Plus, moves for The Chainsmokers, RL Grime, Underworld, Iggy Pop & R3HAB.
Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey grab a share of the record for the most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart as "The Middle" marks a 27th frame on top (on the tally dated Aug. 11). Dating to the chart's January 2013 inception, the only other song to spend as many weeks at the top is The Chainsmokers' "Closer" (featuring Halsey), which led for 27 weeks in 2016-17. Avicii's "Wake Me Up!" follows with 26 frames at No.1 in 2013-14.
Speaking of The Chainsmokers, the duo collects its 12th Hot Dance/Electronic Songs top 10, surging 45-7 with "Side Effects" (featuring Emily Warren, who earns her first top 10). The track drew 3.8 million U.S. streams and sold 11,000 downloads in its first full tracking week, ending Aug. 2, according to Nielsen Music. It arrives as The Chainsmokers' record-breaking seventh No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales, passing Nicki Minaj's six.
"Side" also starts at No. 17 on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs as The Chainsmokers' 18th entry, moving the pair to within one of Calvin Harris' record 19 in the chart's five-year history.
SUPER 'NOVA': RL Grime notches his first Top Dance/Electronic Albums No. 1 with NOVA (6,000 equivalent album units). With 1,000 in traditional album sales, the set likewise starts atop Dance/Electronic Album Sales. Grime has placed three NOVA cuts on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, including "Light Me Up" (featuring Miguel and Julia Michaels), which debuts at No. 18, instantly becoming Grimes' top-peaking title.
POP GOES DANCE: At No. 2 Dance/Electronic Album Sales, Underworld and Iggy Pop bow with the EP Teatime Dub Encounters (1,000 sold). The set is Underworld's fifth top 10 since its first, AHundredDaysOff, which also debuted at No. 2, in October 2002. The English act has earned two No. 1s: Oblivion With Bells (November 2007) and Barbara, Barbara, We Face a Shining Future (April 2016).
Teatime marks Pop's first appearance on a Billboard dance chart in over three decades, since "Cry for Love (Remix)" reached No. 19 on Dance Club Songs in November 1986. "Cry" became the alt-rock icon's second Dance Club Songs hit; "Bang Bang" reached No. 35 in October 1981.
KINGS OF CLUBS: R3HAB reaps his third Dance Club Songs No. 1, and Conor Maynard earns his first, with "Hold On Tight" (2-1). The track was remixed by, among others, Midnight Kids, Owen Norton and Tommy Jayden.
