I've only listened to Sicko Mode or whatever it's called because it has Drake on it, but I'll listen to the album later. Didn't know Travis Scott was this big.

I have a question about the 8/4/18 Billboard Rap Songs chart they have Sin Pijama by Becky G at #24. Shouldn't it be 1942 by G-Eazy since going by the Hot 100 Ball For Me by Post Malone is #25 on the Rap Songs Chart. Also I don't consider Sin Pijama rap. They make so many rather simple mistakes with charts for a huge company with huge technology. 2 weeks ago I had to e-mail them because an album from 30 years ago debuted on R&B Albums. Using the search option they have both Fed Up by Derez De'Shon & Bed by Nicki Minaj both being #25 on the Rap Airplay chart. I remember a couple years ago when they 1st put the Rap chart up they had a country act (Little Big Town I think) on it. I e-mailed about the Becky G song but haven't got a answer. Maybe I e-mailed the wrong person.

I figured he was based on how his prior singles have performed on streaming, even though he doesn't seem that big. He's also Kylie Jenner's man and baby daddy, so that alone gives him a popularity boost. And that's not to say he wasn't popular before, and/or on his own merits as an artist. He was. It's just that his profile and promotion and audience expanded even further with her just being in the picture. Plus, all these features!

I think it's the new normal.

I'm really impressed. I wouldn't be surprised if one of his songs become a meme/challenge.

I wonder if this will be another J. Cole situation where the album is very frontloaded and doesn't have much longevity after a few weeks.

I'm not expecting a Drake-level situation, it will likely be more front loaded and who knows how it will even perform during the rest of the tracking period compared to yesterday. But having all the tracks chart seems entirely possible, even if many fail to chart in the top 40.

Honestly idek at this point. The sings are catchy, so it should do well on radio. Ig we'll just have to see where it is in the next couple of days. I'm surprised with the Travis Scott album bomb, but looking at Kworb's Spotify Weekly Chart you can see that goosebumps has been in the top 200 for 98 weeks and it's still at #94. He's now going from a longevity monster to a high peak streaming monster. kworb.net/spotify/country/us_weekly.html

This year just keeps getting weirder with these album bombs. I wonder will Arianas album pull something similar.

Looking at his previous hits, and how streaming has grown since his last album, this streaming album bomb situation really shouldn't be a surprise. There's a curiosity factor in place, probably more so than with Drake who is more established and well-known to a larger audience. This is why we can't be too sure how well Travis' songs will hold up this week, let alone next week. Features are playing a role in this.

Welp there goes its shot in the top 38th day effect - its exaggerated audience numbers from its premiere last Friday are gone now. That's not how it works. You'll see tomorrow that everything is fine. I don't know where it will rank on the Hot 100, but today's radio update is not reflective of anything bad.

I don't know where it will rank on the Hot 100, but today's radio update is not reflective of anything bad. It's ok - explaining the 8th day effect at radio is an ongoing event in these threads. haha. The tracking period for radio airplay ends Sunday nights at 11:59pm. Today's update is just showing how it compares to last week Friday's numbers, when it had a bunch of hourly premiere spins across the country. The big decrease won't be there tomorrow, and it'll all be positive again. It should also be said that last Friday's airplay (and Saturday and Sunday) is not counted toward this week's charts. Those days were part of last week's Hot 100 tracking period. This means that sometimes songs debut low or "early" on the Hot 100 based off of 3 days of airplay alone, however this song did not. With streaming being such a big metric now, it's more difficult for a few days of airplay alone to be enough to chart.

"8th day effect" is not really an industry term, it is a phrase coined here
