^In the UK, both Perfect and Shape of You continue to chart well past 52 weeks charted given that the Official Singles chart has no recurrent rules.

The thing with Ed Sheeran is that his music is so relatable to basically EVERYONE no matter the gender, age and social status. So when he smashes he smashes harder than anyone else can.
He's like continuation to Frank Sinatra, Lionel Richie and other smooth male singers through the years.
It's the same with Adele I think. Someone Like You spent 66 weeks in the top 75 in the UK.

I completely agree, but beyond that, a HUGE reason why his songs last as long as they do is because of the humongous support they tend to get on radio. A song that reaches 200+ million audience impressions on radio and SLOWLY drops off will remain on the charts for MONTHS. It also helps that his videos do really well on YouTube and he's a big enough streaming artist on Spotify. He's also able to pull numbers as far as single sales are concerned. Of course, we're leaving out the fact that he's on a worldwide stadium tour and playing for tens of thousands every night who are probably streaming/buying these songs before/after each show. You add all those things up and you get a guy whose songs spend years on the charts.

Those digital sales are minimal, but that streaming position is impressive. Where is its streaming coming from? It's barely in the Spotify top 200. Ed sheeran has some of the best YouTube in the world Sure, but the Hot 100 obviously only counts U.S. streams. What kind of U.S. views is "Perfect" still getting?

"In My Feelings" is no longer #1 on Spotify It hasn't been #1 in like a week. It's still well ahead of its competition for #1 on the Hot 100, though.

With Urban and Rhythmic radio jumping on "Nonstop" the airplay is going to stop increasing soon.

With Urban and Rhythmic radio jumping on "Nonstop" the airplay is going to stop increasing soon. Sure. It's also #1 at both formats, so it would start decreasing soon regardless. If your ultimate point is more about "IMF" falling from #1 on the Hot 100, the issue is more what will replace it? Even if "IMF" starts declining in all 3 metrics, there is nothing out right now making big enough gains to overtake it. Like we've seen with past huge #1s, it will take a big new song to do it ("See You Again" coming out of nowhere to dethrone "Uptown Funk," "Black Beatles" rocketing 9-1 to replace "Closer," Taylor Swift dropping a new single to take out "Despacito").

Sicko Mode has been doing hundreds of thousands of streams more than In My Feelings for 6 days now. It's been decreasing, but it's not surprising that it's total plays for the week are much more than that of In My Feelings.

Of course it's not #1 for the week when "Sicko Mode" has been ahead all week. If you're just talking Spotify, there is a Spotify thread. If you're ultimate point is about the Hot 100, then "Sicko Mode" isn't even a threat for #1 at this point. It also decreased more in Spotify streams from Tuesday to Wednesday than "In My Feelings" did, so it's likely "IMF" will pass "Sicko Mode" in daily Spotify streams in a day or two.

With Urban and Rhythmic radio jumping on "Nonstop" the airplay is going to stop increasing soon. While In My Feelings has peaked on both Rhythmic and Urban formats, it's a reach to think it's airplay would stop increasing anytime soon when it's still gaining heavily on pop. Basically, it's not leaving #1 on the Hot 100 chart anytime soon.

Ed does huge numbers, but he's a more global artist than a lot of urban artists who pull most of their streams from YouTube from the US. Even when the Perfect video just got released, it's views from the US were very low.

Am I the only one who wishes Castle On The Hill had the longevity of SOY and Perfect? It's definitely a standout track for me off that album. Loved it as soon as he released it as a single and it's the song I've played the most off the Divide album.

It's kinda how hit records work.

But something is keeping the streaming position for "Perfect" relatively high. Perhaps it's doing better on OTHER streaming platforms besides Spotify and Apple Music? Who knows? It's #38 on the on-demand chart with 6.5M streams. Add 6M YouTube views + 2-3M from Pandora and it has 14.5-16M total streams. Also, important to note: the original version on Spotify accounts for only 23% of its on-demand streams while most (if not all) songs it's 40-60% for the main version on Spotify. The remixes are really helping its longevity.
