Interested to see how this sounds now that he's with Warner Bros.
I think they'll let him keep his sound and not change much but it'll be interesting if he tailors his sound for radio a bit.

I can see CoJo breaking out into a big star. He is extremely popular with Texas Country or “red dirt” fans. “With You I Am” is a beautiful song and I expect this one to be killer as well.
I second that he is a terrific performer. Really connects with his audience.

He's still on his own 'label' (CoJo Music) but partnered with Warner Nashville, so I definitely think he'll have a lot of creative control over his career. I don't think he would have signed with a major label otherwise. But I do think he will tailor his sound for radio just a little bit. According to the Aircheck ad, this song will be promoted by the WMN team, which means Cody's been assigned to the same radio promo team (imprint) as Blake Shelton, Brett Eldredge, and Cole Swindell, among others.

Great for Cody! I've always thought his brand of traditional country would be a fit for radio along with Aaron Watson.

So this is currently #2 on the iTunes All-Genre chart. Wow, had no clue his fan base was that large. The song is really freaking good too, I could see this breaking out honestly if it’s given a fair chance. Very catchy and memorable but still sounds like a song from mid 2000s.

Holy hell, it's up to #1 now. I knew he was popular "underground" but didn't know it was to this extent. I'm hoping having a big label behind him can make him a radio star because I love his sound.

So this is currently #2 on the iTunes All-Genre chart. It's #1 now :) I would treat him like a more single-oriented version of Aaron Watson. But his album sales this time may be extraordinary as well. As for the song, I like it more than With You I Am. He sings better on this one too.

Got to pull out a promo article about his streaming published back in January... Now that country is more accustomed to streaming, Cody will benefit the most among the artists in the Texas country field.

That's crazy. Here is audio if anyone is interested. He has kept his traditional style.

Cody has one of the most passionate fan bases in country music. This one reaching #1 on iTunes is no surprise. Radio success is yet to be seen. This will be interesting with a strong radio team behind him.

This is a great song and a perfect major label debut (especially since they can't really re-issue "With You I Am"). I expect this to do quite well.

Whoa, this song blasted to #37 on BB and we're still 3 weeks away from the official adds date?
You wonder why it takes having a major label for a radio to finally start playing an artist when it appears they wanted to play him all along...

Whoa, this song blasted to #37 on BB and we're still 3 weeks away from the official adds date? You wonder why it takes having a major label for a radio to finally start playing an artist when it appears they wanted to play him all along... I think there's a lot of buzz behind Cody because he was one of those independent artists that was able to make somewhat of a dent without radio, and now that buzz has reached a fever pitch because he's finally partnered with a major label. With that said, the early success of this one doesn't exactly indicate that all radio stations wanted to play him all along, and here's why: most of this song's audience is coming from radio stations in Texas, and I think the reason those stations are finally willing to give Cody a lot of spins (rather than just curiosity spins like before) is because now he's associated with Warner Nashville (most stations won't give a lot of spins to independent artists solely for the fact that they're independent; rather, radio mainly gives it spins to major label artists). There are some non-Texas stations on board already as well and I'm sure radio as a whole will really come on board this fall, but this one's early success is a little misleading thanks to the Texas stations. A quick look at AllAccess shows that Cody has 42 spins in the last 7 days at KKBQ (Houston) alone, which is nearly 900k in audience from just that one station. He's also at 42 spins in the last week at KCYY (San Antonio), which translates to 265k in audience. KILT (Houston) is up to 38 spins and 552k in audience. Then there's KSCS (Dallas) giving it 32 spins and 468k in audience, KAJA (San Antonio) giving it 22 spins and 171k in audience, and KPLX (Dallas) giving it 10 spins and 208k in audience. So far Cody's biggest supporters that aren't Texas stations are both of the Tampa stations, both of the Salt Lake City stations, and KBEQ in Kansas City.

So far Cody's biggest supporters that aren't Texas stations are both of the Tampa stations, both of the Salt Lake City stations, and KBEQ in Kansas City. I’ll add to the highlighted part. To radio programmers, “independent” can mean “here today...gone tomorrow.” Basically, they wanna invest in stars or potential stars. This is really where theories of “momentum” comes from and how an artist can seemingly go away at radio.

Four new songs and On My Way to You are included in the Ain't Nothin' to It EP (of album pre-order tracks I think) that will be released tomorrow.
Dear Rodeo [written by Cody Johnson, Dan Couch] Monday Morning Merle [written by Bart Butler, Brad Warren, Brett Warren, Lance Miller] Long Haired Country Boy (ft. The Rockin' CJB) [written by Charlie Daniels] Fenceposts [written by Benji Davis, Robert Arthur]

“Dear Rodeo”, “Fenceposts” and “Monday Morning Merle” are fantastic. Sounds like songs I listened to on albums in the early 2000’s. 90s sounds with modern tones. Steel, dobros, fiddle and acoustic guitars are very prominent and the lyrics on all three are stellar as well. Can’t wait for the whole album.
