I was hoping this could go a bit farther, but I will take it if it means my top ten is (somehow) still unscathed after the first 30 reveals.

Okay, you may have noticed that the Barenaked Ladies songs switched spots. Well, an error was found in the spreadsheet, and MoD had the two Barenaked Ladies songs swapped in his ranking. That has been addressed, and now "One Week" is below "Brian Wilson". As it should be. Oh, and it now has the highest SD, too.
Okay, finally, extras time! First up, a Lenny Kravitz song that DIDN'T make it to a rock chart rankdown.EXTRA

I like other Lenny Kravitz songs more, but this one is nice, too.

85. Jump Right In - Yup, I thought this was a 311 knockoff rather than Nick Hexum himself. In any case, it’s just okay. 84. Over Your Shoulder - Did not care for this at all. I won’t be too kind to “Cumbersome” either; they’re in the same category of dull generic post-grunge as Days of the New for me. 83. Stay (Wasting Time) - This one was just plain fun and catchy, with nice instrumentation and background vocals. Deserved better. Also, crazy how four of my five top half losses so far are adjacent in my rankings (25-28). 82. Mouth - Most of Bush’s songs haven’t aged that well for me, and this one aged especially badly. The remix improves on the original a little, but they did this style much better with “The Chemicals Between Us”. 81. Brimful of Asha - Cool song, thought it would do better than this. I like the remix a little more, but both versions are good. 80. Don’t Drink The Water - Ugh, their two entries here certainly did not deserve to be their two lowest rankers so far, though I’ll grant that this is a tough year. IMO both of these songs are better than “The Space Between” and “Where Are You Going”, not to mention “I Did It”. 79. I Will Still Be Laughing - This was pretty solid, could have stood to do better. Not the best I’ve heard from them, but not the worst either. 78. High - Above-average music, below-average lyrics, evens out to overall averageness. 77. From Your Mouth - Always thought this was a cool, underrated song. Looks like the latter assessment goes for this board too. 76. Space Lord - I didn’t expect this to be lower than where I ranked it. Not really up my musical alley but it’s kinda fun. 75. The Oaf - About time this garbage showed up. 74. Truly - That chorus is truly annoying and truly ruins what might have otherwise been a decent song. 73. Thank U - Well fortunately this one didn’t long overstay its welcome like “Joining You” did, and the right Alanis song definitely went out first I don’t hate this but I can’t say I like it at all either. 72. One Week - I cannot help it if I think this song is irresistable quirky fun, and I dig the musical vibes of it too. I guess there’s some solace in it at least escaping bottom 25, considering the unsolved issues some posters have with the most celebrated Canadian alt-rock band of the mid-90s. 71. Brian Wilson - Okay, maybe I have some unsolved issues too, because I never cared much for this one.

still kinda miffed about Big Wreck's underperformance, yeah yeah stacked year whatever, but I don't know what could make it so awful for some people. However, my #2 was extremely close to being my #1 (I switched them multiple times before sending in a list), so at least both didn't go out in the same set.

Love "Brian Wilson" and it would probably be top 15 or so on my 1992 list. I can't believe a CanCon single from 1992 did this well 6 years later.

85. Jump Right In - The Urge No big loss here, but I did kinda dig the vocal melody.
84. Over Your Shoulder - Seven Mary Three Judging by this song, I doubt I'll be doing this band any favors in future rankdowns. Sounds good for AAA.
83. Stay (Wasting Time) - Dave Matthews Band I like this one. very melodic.
82. Mouth - Bush The original is way better, that "Stingray" mix emphasizes on all the sounds I hate.
81. Brimful of Asha - Cornershop The truth is I upgraded this one for reminding me of the guitar riff of "She's So Mean" from Matchbox Twenty.
80. Don't Drink the Water - Dave Matthews Band This one should have exited out first. Kinda boring all around.
79. I Will Still Be Laughing - Soul Asylum I enjoyed this one enough for top 40 action, but call me back when we rank "Sombody To Shove", if you wanna see me put this band in top 10.
72. One Week - Barenaked Ladies
How does this merit bottom ten? My guess? you all don't song along? Or better yet can't keep up with these vocal wonders. Nonsense lyrics are the whole point of this song.

Extras:
If You Can't Say No - Lenny Kravitz I can hear the reason this flopped.
Happy - Sister Hazel Not bad for a first time listen. The Happy chorus is peppy. That always works for me.
Comin' Home - Hum Sounds too Bi-Polar. Not for me.
Come On (Let Your Blood Come Alive) - Agents of Good Roots Never heard of these guys. My favorite part, The "comoncomoncomoncomon",s is what would get this song tanked? Probably?
Barbarella - Scott Weiland I prefer Duran Duran's "Electric Barbarella", but this is still Scott Weilland. I probably wouldn't give this two listens if Scott wasn't on vocals, but it is and it would have ended up super high on my list.

I may have three songs ranked lower than this one, but this may be the song in this rankdown I genuinely hate the most. The only reason it's not my #100 is because I can at least understand why someone would like it...but every single time I listen to it, it just makes me angry.
And yet, somehow, someone ranked it lower than me. 73
Thank U Alanis Morissette
Year-End Placing: #73 Chart Peak: #12 Chart Weeks: 9 1544 points This song seems rather paint-by-numbers to me. "Uninvited" and "Joining You" are much better.

I actually thought "One Week" was going to make top 25, as one of the 1998 staples still getting gold airplay on alt stations. Didn't realize there was so much hate for it.

A little question, what is Standard Deviation? Sorry for not knowing lol In layman's terms, it's a measure of how divisive a song is (in terms of its rankings). Mathematically, it's a measure of how far ranks are from the average rank.

Finally my first bottom 10 is gone! One Week is a good song but it’s bad compared to most of the other songs on here.

No real surprises here so far. I didn’t expect Brian Setzer or Cherry Poppin Daddies to make it too far but I was glad to see they at least missed the bottom 10. Random ass songs but I was always partial to them for some reason. Nostalgia took them as far as it did for me.
Also, glad to see Smash Mouth didn’t even escape the bottom 5. As Smash Mouth goes, its terrible. As covers go, its worse.
It’s interesting to see how all the over the place these results are. It was a really strong year in music, imo, and the results show that so far.
While I’ve lost a good handful of songs in the upper half of my rankings, I’m pleasantly surprised to have only one bottom 10 song left. Oh, also its good to see that Alanis, Natalie, Natalie, Sarah and Sheryl are still in the game.
Question: how did Rockafeller Skank miss this altogether?

I don’t get how that s**tty ass, 9 minute long, repetitive as f**k Oasis song is still here. People have nostalgia for mid-2000s cellphone commercials I guess, that's my only explanation
