Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' Returns to Hot 100, Thanks to Halloween Gains
11/6/2018 by Xander Zellner
The track reaches its highest mark since 1984.
Michael Jackson's horror pop classic "Thriller" re-enters the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 31, thanks to its annual Halloween gains.
"Thriller" returns with 15,000 downloads sold, surging by 189 percent from the prior week, and 15.2 million U.S. streams, up 198 percent, in the week ending Nov. 1, according to Nielsen Music. The gains also help the song re-enter both the Digital Song Sales and Streaming Songs charts at Nos. 11 and 30, respectively.
"Thriller" peaked at No. 4 on the Hot 100 on March 3, 1984, and has returned to the Hot 100 thrice before during this decade. With its No. 31 re-entry, the track reaches its highest point since April 7, 1984, when it stood at No. 23.
(How is an over 30-year-old single eligible for the Hot 100, which ranks, almost exclusively, current hits via a blend of streaming, airplay and sales data? Songs not in a current release cycle can re-enter if they log notable gains in chart metrics and rank in the top 50.)
Further, Jackson's iconic Thriller LP earns Greatest Gainer honors on the Billboard 200 albums chart, as it vaults from No. 102 to No. 42 (up 83 percent to 14,000 equivalent album units), also thanks to Halloween gains.
In the 62-year history of the Billboard 200, only the West Side Story soundtrack has spent more weeks at No. 1 (54) than Thriller. Jackson's signature set ranks at No. 3 on Billboard's Greatest of All-Time Billboard 200 Albums recap, behind only Adele's 21 and The Sound of Music soundtrack.

Panic! at the Disco Scores First Hot Rock Songs No. 1 With 'High Hopes'
11/6/2018 by Kevin Rutherford
The song also surges to No. 11 on the Hot 100.
Thirteen years into its chart career, Panic! at the Disco continues its hot streak of topping tallies for the first time, as the Brendon Urie-led band earns its first No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs chart with "High Hopes."
The second single from the group's sixth studio album, Pray for the Wicked, ascends 2-1 on the Nov. 10-dated list, which blends streaming, airplay and sales data.
"Hopes" is the top Airplay Gainer on Hot Rock Songs for a fifth week, up 26 percent to 71.3 million all-format audience impressions, according to Nielsen Music. It also drew 10.5 million U.S. streams (up 6 percent) and sold 20,000 downloads (up 1 percent) in the tracking week.
A week earlier, "Hopes" became Panic!'s first No. 1 on Rock Digital Song Sales, where it remains at the summit.
It also ranks at No. 3 on both the all-rock-format Rock Airplay chart (10.6 million in rock radio audience) and Rock Streaming Songs.
The band had hit a previous No. 3 peak on Hot Rock Songs, which began in 2009, with "Hallelujah" in May 2015.
Elsewhere on radio, "Hopes" concurrently bullets at its No. 2 high on the Alternative Songs airplay chart. Now a crossover hit, it's scaling the Adult Pop Songs (8-6) and Pop Songs (15-12) airplay rankings. The song blasts 21-11 on the all-genre streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Billboard Hot 100, where the band is seeking its first Hot 100 top 10 since its debut entry, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies," reached No. 7 in 2006.
In addition to completing its first trips to No. 1 on Hot Rock Songs and Rock Digital Song Sales with "Hopes," Panic! notched its first Billboard airplay chart leader in June with lead Wicked single "Say Amen (Saturday Night)."
The band first reached a Billboard chart on Oct. 15, 2005, when its debut album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out arrived on multiple surveys, including at No. 1 on Heatseekers Albums.

Josh Turner's Faith-Based 'I Serve a Savior' Debuts, Dan + Shay, Maren Morris Go Top 10 on Country Charts
11/6/2018 by Jim Asker
Josh Turner's first faith-based set, I Serve a Savior bows at No. 2 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart (dated Nov. 10) with 15,000 equivalent album units (14,000 in traditional album sales) in the week ending Nov. 1, according to Nielsen Music.
Savior also arrives at No. 2 on Top Christian Albums, marking the singer-songwriter's first appearance on the tally.
"I'm floored. God is good," Turner tells Billboard. "I had no expectations going into this project, other than to make a record I was proud to share. I'm especially thankful my fans have embraced it. I want [listeners] to feel some hope and joy that maybe they've never experienced before, even if they don't understand where it's coming from exactly. I'd love for them to seek out truth."
The 12-song Savior, Turner's seventh studio set, marks his eighth Top Country Albums top 10 (encompassing his seven LPs and a live release), a sum that includes three No. 1s. Before Savior, Deep South debuted at No. 1 on the chart dated April 1, 2017. Turner has also led with Punching Bag in 2012 and sophomore album Your Man in 2006. Turner's debut LP, Long Black Train, peaked at No. 3 in 2004.
While Savior is Turner's first full-fledged Christian-based album, he's no stranger to inspirational songs. "Long Black Train," his second Hot Country Songs entry, and "Me and God" (which hit Nos. 13 and 16 in 2004 and 2007, respectively), appear in updated versions on the new set.
The bulk of the album features traditional hymns, with which Turner became familiar while growing up in South Carolina, including "How Great Thou Art" (featuring Sonya Isaacs), "Amazing Grace" and "Great Is Thy Faithfulness," plus the iconic "I Saw the Light," penned by Hank Williams.
The title song, which Turner co-wrote in 2016, led to the creation of the set. "The thought of doing this album hadn't even come to me yet, and I was still working on Deep South at the time," mused Turner. "When it came time to actually record 'Savior,' I wanted it to feel new, but also have the feel of an old-time hymn. As things progressed, I wanted it to be the title track.
"Everything just kind of fell into place. I felt like it was my time and, more importantly, that it was God's time."
NEW TOP 10s On Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, which combines airplay, streaming and sales data, Maren Morris earns her fourth top 10, as "Rich" rises 11-10. It gains by 5 percent to 30.7 million audience impressions, as it holds at its No. 5 high on Country Airplay. Morris adds her first Hot Country Songs top 10 since "I Could Use a Love Song," which peaked at No. 7 on Jan. 20; it topped Country Airplay the same week.
Dan + Shay collect their fifth Country Airplay top 10, as "Speechless" pushes 11-10 (22.6 million, up 11 percent). The pair's first four top 10s all reached No. 1: "Nothin' Like You" (2015), "From the Ground Up" (2016), "How Not To" (2017) and this year's "Tequila" (two weeks beginning July 7).
THIRD TIME CHARMED Luke Combs' "She Got the Best of Me" holds at the Country Airplay summit (44.9 million, up 2 percent), leading the list for the third week and becoming the longest-leading of his four career-opening No. 1s. Combs first reigned with his debut hit "Hurricane," for two weeks starting on the chart dated May 27, 2017, and followed with "When It Rains It Pours," which also dominated for two frames, beginning Nov. 4, 2017, and "One Number Away," which led June 9.
"Best" is the third song that has led Country Airplay for a year-best three weeks in 2018. Luke Bryan's "Most People Are Good" hit No. 1 on March 31, after Brett Young's "Like I Loved You" ruled the first three weeks of the year, starting Jan. 3.

Glad to see that Tequila is still alive I'm surprised it is It's because HAC is keeping it afloat, and it was only sent to Pop around the middle/end of September and is rising there in the moment. But I love that song so I don't mind if it has a second wind.

Lil Pump & XXXTentacion's 'Arms Around You' Debuts on Hot 100, Streaming Songs Chart
11/6/2018 by Kevin Rutherford
Kevin Wong Lil Pump The new collaboration, which features Maluma & Swae Lee, starts at No. 28 on the Hot 100 and No. 14 on Streaming Songs.
βArms Around You,β the new collaboration between Lil Pump and the late XXXTentacion, is off to a strong start, bowing at No. 14 on Billboardβs Streaming Songs chart dated Nov. 10 in its first full week of streams.
The track, which features Maluma and Swae Lee, debuts with 19.9 million streams earned in the week ending Nov. 1, according to Nielsen Music. That follows a release week (it was released Oct. 25, meaning it accrued one day of streams before the tracking week reset) of 1.5 million clicks.
βYouβ is Lil Pumpβs third song to debut within the top 20 of Streaming Songs, all coming in 2018; previously, βEsskeetitβ started at No. 13 (April 28) while βI Love It,β with Kanye West, bowed at No. 1 (Sept. 22). Itβs also XXXTentacionβs third-highest debut as a lead artist, behind βSad!β (No. 5, March 17) and βJocelyn Floresβ (No. 11, Sept. 16, 2017).
XXXTentacion performs during the second day of the Rolling Loud Festival in downtown Miami on May 6, 2017. Read More XXXTentacion & Lil Pump Connect With Maluma & Swae Lee For New Song 'Arms Around You': Listen
βYouβ concurrently starts at No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100, enters Digital Song Sales at No. 18 (11,000 downloads) and is bubbling under the Rhythmic Songs airplay chart.
The song was conceived after Lil Pump reached out to XXXTentacionβs mother following his death to inquire about making a song to honor the artist, who died June 18. Skrillex, JonFX and Mally Mall co-produced the track.
Meanwhile, Maluma scores his highest-charting track on Streaming Songs with βYou,β eclipsing the No. 39 peak of βFelices Los 4β (Aug. 5, 2017), and itβs Swae Leeβs third top 20 debut as a solo artist, following Post Maloneβs βSpoil My Night,β on which heβs featured (No. 8, May 12), and βSunflower,β this time on equal billing with Malone (No. 8, Nov. 3).

In regards to the CH100, GLY is now in it's 10th week at #1, dating back to June 16. Can't think of another song (albeit The Twist obviously) that was #1 at or over 5 months after it's first appearance at #1. (as the BBH100 and CH100 use the same formula now I believe)

Marshmello & Bastille's 'Happier' Makes History Atop Alternative Songs Chart
11/7/2018 by Kevin Rutherford
The song is the first collaboration by two lead acts to hit No. 1 in the chart's 30-year history.
One of alternative radio's most consistent acts and a renowned DJ/producer share a No. 1 song on Billboard's Alternative Songs airplay chart, as Marshmello and Bastille's "Happier" jumps 3-1 (on the list dated Nov. 10).
The song is the first No. 1 by two co-billed lead acts in the Alternative Songs chart's 30-year history. The prior best? "Pretty Pink Rose," by Adrian Belew and David Bowie, which reached No. 2 in 1990.
"Happier" becomes Bastille's second Alternative Songs No. 1, after the British band's debut hit "Pompeii" in 2013. Earlier in its run, "Happier" became Bastille's eighth straight top 10 on Alternative Songs in as many appearances, dating to "Pompeii," tying the band with Green Day and Incubus for the survey's longest career-opening top 10 streak.
Meanwhile, helmet-wearing DJ Marshmello crowns the chart in his first visit, following success at other radio formats, including dance, pop and adult pop.
Marshmello is the first DJ/producer to top Alternative Songs since Big Data with "Dangerous," featuring Joywave, in 2014. He's also the fifth act in a lead role this year to rule the ranking with a first entry, following Two Feet, lovelytheband, AJR and Alice Merton.
"Happier" concurrently leads the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart for a fourth week and pushes 6-4 on Pop Songs and 10-9 on Adult Pop Songs. On the all-rock-format Rock Airplay chart, it bullets at No. 2 with a new high of 11.4 million audience impressions (up 6 percent), according to Nielsen Music.
The track also ascends 4-3 on the all-genre, streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Billboard Hot 100, with 83.3 million all-format airplay impressions, 22.3 million U.S. streams and 23,000 downloads sold; it's looking like a solid contender for No. 1. The song has already become Marshmello's first top 10 on the list, usurping the No. 11-peaking "Friends," with Anne-Marie, in June. It's likewise Bastille's highest-charting hit, besting the No. 5 peak of "Pompeii" in 2014.

What made ZEZE fall 10 spots in Canada? Down to 42 on iTunes, no radio. I also think our songs are less stream weighted.

What made ZEZE fall 10 spots in Canada? Down to 42 on iTunes, no radio. I also think our songs are less stream weighted.Β Makes sense. Is streaming as prevelant in Canada as it is in the States or are sales/radio more of a factor?

I'm going to assume less prevalent since GLY has been between #1 and #2 for like 20 weeks now, and we have far less "meme" hits hit higher on the charts.

Marshmello & Bastille's 'Happier' Makes History Atop Alternative Songs Chart
11/7/2018 by Kevin Rutherford The song is the first collaboration by two lead acts to hit No. Lmao what a joke.

11/8/2018 by Gary Trust
Lady Gaga attends a photocall for the film "A Star is Born" presented out of competition on Aug. 31, 2018 during the 75th Venice Film Festival at Venice Lido. Gaga's duet with Bradley Cooper from "A Star Is Born" reigns for a fifth week.
Lady Gaga hits a new a personal high atop Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart, as "Shallow," with Bradley Cooper, tops the tally for a fifth week.
Gaga previously led the list for four weeks each with three prior No. 1s on the chart: "Just Dance," "Bad Romance" and "Born This Way."
Here's a recap of Gaga's six Digital Song Sales No. 1s, ranked by their weeks spent at the summit:
Five weeks (to date), "Shallow," with Bradley Cooper, beginning Oct. 13, 2018 Four, "Born This Way," Feb. 26, 2011 Four, "Bad Romance," Dec. 5, 2009 Four, "Just Dance," feat. Colby O'Donis, Jan. 10, 2009 One, "Million Reasons," Feb. 25, 2017 One, "Poker Face," April 11, 2009
"Shallow" remains atop the chart with 36,000 sold in the week ending Nov. 1, according to Nielsen Music, and has sold 274,000 to date.
Gaga and Cooper's soundtrack to A Star Is Born, starring the pair, spent its first three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, also setting a new highpoint for Gaga, as it bested Born This Way, which ruled for two weeks in 2011, as her longest-leading No. 1 set.
On the streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Billboard Hot 100, "Shallow" ranks at No. 21 after reaching No. 5 three weeks ago. It gains by 30 percent to 23.3 million in all-format radio audience in the week ending Nov. 4, according to Nielsen Music, and debuts at No. 50 on the all-genre Radio Songs chart. It becomes Gaga's eighth top 10 on the Adult Pop Songs airplay chart (14-10) and, at four weeks, completes her fastest flight to the tier, topping the five-week climb of "Born This Way."
"Shallow" also rises 19-16 on Adult Contemporary and 34-31 on Pop Songs.
