The first #1 loss being #6 is pretty damn good. Everyone must have "Strawberry Wine" as their #1 lol

The first #1 loss being #6 is pretty damn good. Everyone must have "Strawberry Wine" as their #1 lol Only 1 song in the top 5 doesn't have a #1 ranking, so that's a negative, sir!

Prediction time!!!!!!!!!! I'd love for "I've Loved Enough To Know" and "There's No Limit" to contend for the top 2, but "We Danced Anyway" is sure to be the biggest #2 contender here...
5. "How Do I Get There" 4. "I've Loved Enough To Know" 3. "There's No Limit" 2. "We Danced Anyway" 1. "Strawberry Wine"

The melodies, choruses and lyrics of "Count Me In" and "Angels Working Overtime" are among some of my favorite the genre has ever produced. Just stellar songs!

The first casualty inside the top 5 is the final album cut standing. "I've Loved Enough to Know" is a bright and sunny uptempo with Deana playfully singing about being wise enough to spot a heartache coming before it happens. This song was originally slated to be her debut single in America and a music video was released for it, but for whatever reason it not only wound up getting the boot in favor of "Strawberry Wine," it never even got revisited for a single option later on in the album cycle. This one could've very easily been another #1 smash for her imo given how well the other two uptempo singles from the project did. We see another #1 go down as bboat11 loses his pinnacle track, but it also comes with the loss of the second-to-last bottom 5 rank remaining in the game. Now only LBTrocks has a bottom 5 still in play. "I hear what you're telling me but that don't make it so. Two timing, talking sweet from the time your feet hit the floor My heart is telling me it's time to let you go. Oh baby, let go"

The first of three #1 hits that Deana Carter accumulated in her short time on top of the country music world to leave the rankdown is "How Do I Get There," leaving behind her two biggest #1 hits and late (temporary) career revival song "There's No Limit" in the top 3. The final song to clock in with over 100 total points, this summery uptempo about taking the step to move beyond friends with someone she has an eye for, "How Do I Get There" tickled the fancy of Cody Wants Out... who loses his #1 in this reveal. He's far from alone in suffering a big hit to his list though as more than half of y'all put this one top 5. Additionally, all but one poster had this one in their top 12, but bboat11 loses his final rank in the 20s here. "The shortest distance between two points is a straight line But I'll climb any mountain that you want me to climb The perfect combination is your heart and mine Baby, give me a sign"

"I've Loved Enough To Know" is such an infectious, summery jam. I love it so much!!!! So glad it hung on to make the top 5, amongst her biggest and best hits I'd like to think it would have been remembered just as lovingly as all the rest of them had it actually been a single, and maybe been a contender to make it a couple spots higher :)

#5 was my #4 and #4 was my #5 grrrrrrr....
Both were great discoveries though! I really only strongly cared for my top 6 or 7 but I did enjoy discovering these two! (Prior to doing any rankdowns, I only knew "Strawberry Wine" and Kenny's version of "You + Tequila")

She is so effing good. I've Loved Enough To Know is one of the weaker songs on her debut IMO, but I agree that it too, would have been a #1. I miss her and look forward to her new album later this year.
Also, she is aging backwards - anyone seen her Insta lately? #Fire

Probably surprising very few of you, "There's No Limit" bows out here in third place, leaving her two biggest hits standing in the finals. This hit that came after a few years off country radio for Deana and a label switch netted her one last top 20 before her mainstream career more or less came to an end. No one loses a #1 rank here, unlike all the other songs that finished in the top 6, but basically everyone was a big fan of this one as it ultimately wound up in the top 10 for all but one poster's list, giving it the highest low rank out of any song in the running. Musically it's another summery uptempo, driven by electric guitar and notably featuring harpsichord fills, over lyrics that find Deana declaring all the ways her love for her man is limitless. For whatever reason, the music video for this song isn't on YouTube, but it was ranked at #29 on CMT's 40 Sexiest Videos countdown in 2008. "Let's pack that pony up and say goodbye to Hollywood Climb into the back and just get on with feeling good"

"Strawberry Wine" vs. "We Danced Anyway" for the win. We still have a bottom 5 rank remaining for one song and a #20 ranking for the other, but aside from these 2 outliers, the rest of y'all gave them top 10s. We still have twelve (of a total fifteen participants) #1 ranks in play between the two songs as well. Which one took home the prize?! Find out shortly!

Oh and 10 points separates the top 2. They ran away with this and stayed way ahead of the competition from the get-go and never looked back ("There's No Limit" finished almost 30 points away from our #2 song). It was a close finish, and it switched hands several times, I might add.

Well, despite LBTrocks best efforts to troll the rankdown with his last-place ranking, the iconic signature hit prevails as the #1 of Deana Carter's rankdown! "Strawberry Wine" was a huge breakthrough smash when it was released stateside as Deana Carter's introduction to country radio, topping the charts and helping propel its parent album to multi-platinum success. The Matraca Berg-penned ballad about a girl looking back fondly on her loss of innocence one summer is one of the most iconic country songs not only of the 90s, but of country music period. Still, "We Danced Anyway," its flirtatious Spanish-tinged uptempo follow-up with its destination music video shot in Puerto Rico put up a good fight, coming in at just 10 points shy of the victory. It was a close battle throughout the submission period and the winner changed hands a few times, but ultimately "Strawberry Wine" won out, which is probably not a surprising outcome. Both songs received multiple #1 ranks (nine for 'Wine' versus three for 'Danced') and one lone low rank outside the top 10 apiece. And thus concludes the Deana Carter rankdown! "The fields have grown over now Years since they've seen the plow There's nothing time hasn't touched Is it really him or the loss of my innocence I've been missing so much"
"The summer air was heavy and sweet You and I on a crowded street There was music everywhere, I can see us there In a happy little foreign town Where the stars hung upside down A half a world away, far far away I remember you were laughung We were so in love, we were so in love"

Truly the deserving winner. "We Danced Anyway" is wonderful, but "Strawberry Wine" is one of the greatest country songs to come out of the 90's, if not THE greatest from that era.

LMAO I had no doubt that "Strawberry Wine" would end up at #1, but I am honestly shocked that "We Danced Anyway" put up as big of a fight as it did! I figured there would be no contest to this slaughter... Also, I do enjoy "We Danced Anyway", but I still don't understand why it is so passionately loved. It honestly sounds like a bit of a demo track in comparison to the rest of her debut album... Still a song that I enjoy, but would never choose it to be the only song in her career that can even attempt to compete with "Strawberry Wine"...
