Kim Richey did an interview with Country Universe and said this about one of my fave Patty songs that I assume we’ll be ranking soon: I love that, thank you for sharing that! I cannot wait to rank that album because it is such a great album! Granted I think that way about most of her albums from the 90s lol |

 It is long past time we get to the next two albums by Patty Loveless! With all the talk in the Country Rankdown thread about series going on too long of breaks I realized this one has laid dormant long enough. It is time we move onto Patty's late '90s albums The Trouble With The Truth and Long Stretch of Lonesome. There are some classic songs on both records so I am excited to see what you all think of these albums!
I'm gonna plan these albums to be due on Feb 5th so that we can get these done the week before the Feb Shuffle rankdown will be due.

Oops I missed that this was happening, glad for the reminder.
I've always found The Trouble With the Truth to be her most inconsistent 90s album, but Long Stretch of Lonesome is terrific front to back and will be difficult for me to rank.

What song will be #1? "You Can Feel Bad" should have this in the bag! It has historically had the best track record in rankdowns out of this list, and frankly it IS the best, so.... :)
What songs will be in the top 3? There are 3 songs that I see being an easy runaway top 3. "You Can Feel Bad", "Lonely Too Long", and "A Thousand Times A Day".
What song will be #10? "Someday I Will Lead The Parade".
What songs will be in the bottom 3? "Parade", "To Feel That Way At All", and "I Miss Who I Was (With You)". Although it's hard to tell, because frankly nothing on this album deserves to do poorly.
Any other comments/thoughts? These two albums are easily my favorite from Patty that we have done so far! Although imo on this first one the album tracks don't really hold a candle to the singles, so I am completely anticipating a singles domination here.

One thing I will say about this album is I could see myself voting any of the 10 songs on this at #1 against others because I love all of the songs a lot. Seeing these two out first feels right and yet it is painful. As everyone can see taylor is terrified is the first person to lose their #1 but he will not be the only one for long as 6 songs on this album received #1 rankings! |

I loved both of these a lot! I had so much trouble deciding what to put as my #10 on this album, because nothing deserved to be last place tbh. "Someday I Will Lead The Parade" started out with me thinking I might even have it as high as like #5. However, the more I listened to the whole album, the more this just kinda fell below the others. I love it, and it would not have deserved last place on any other album I have heard from her so far, but this album was just too competitive!
"To Feel That Way At All" is so beautiful. The melody just hits just right, and I love the way that the verses and the choruses sound in relation to each other. I imagine this will do much better in the album tracks rankdown than it was perceived to do on this album!

"Everybody's Equal In The Eyes Of Love" is a catchy jam!!! However, all of the uptempo singles on the album are better, as is "Tear-Stained Letter", and I love so many of the ballads too, that there was simply no room left for me to rank this any higher than #7. Again, this is one that I will probably have much higher on my album track list than I did on this album list!

Oh wow, I'm a little surprised to see "Tear-Stained Letter" not be the highest album track! This one hit my ear as the most hit-worthy of the songs that were not actually hits. I kinda consider it and "She Drew A Broken Heart" as two sides of the same coin, so having one of them be a hit meant that the other one didn't need to be.
I feel like this might honestly be a top 10 contender in the album tracks rd, lol.

Disappointed but not surprised that “Someday I Will Lead the Parade” out first considering a couple of you were predicting that it would. I’ve found this to be a hauntingly beautiful song myself, but I can understand that it likely isn’t a song one might often want to revisit given the subject matter. Patty sounds absolutely gorgeous on “To Feel That Way Again” which shines even moreso because of the production. Her voice just gives a song like this such warmth that other female artists wouldn’t be able to capture. That said, this is another song that likely falls to the bottom if only because of the dark and somber mood. I had to put something last and in this case “Everybody’s Equal In the Eyes of Love” just happened to be that song. This has probably always been my least favorite from the album as it just can’t match up to the other uptempo songs nor can it compete with the great ballads. In that sense, I’ve never really thought that this song blends in well with the rest of the album as it’s always kind of stood out like a sore thumb (for lack of a better phrase). I was expecting “Tear-Stained Letter” to be the highest placing album track, so I’m a bit surprised to see it leave ahead of “I Miss Who I Was (With You)”. I agree with bboat11 that this’ll likely perform better in an album tracks rankdown. This song is such a jam and one that I always have play whenever I come back around to the album. |

I'm only predicting "She Drew a Broken Heart" making it into the top 2 over "Lonely Too Long" because I realized it was a favorite on Pulse back during Patty's artist rankdown. I still think it could go either way though. That said, I'm fully expecting "You Can Feel Bad" to be the runaway winner.
