I’m quite surprised to see “I Miss Who I Was (With You)” do so well here as I’ve just never considered it to be one of the best album tracks. More than not it’s one that I end up skipping over. It’ll be interesting to see if this performs as well in the album tracks rankdown.
The title track is one of those songs that I’ve grown to love more and more over time. Everything about this song from the production to Patty’s voice just all come together as a whole to make a perfect song. That said, I knew going into this that it’d likely be the first of the five singles out as that same sentiment isn’t shared amongst the group here.

I was hoping that the title track would have made it to #4, but I’m not surprised. I am surprised that IMWIWWY is the highest ranked album track. I would’ve thought that would’ve been bottom three for sure. EEITEOL was the sing that I thought would have been the most popular album track.
I think this is “You Can Feel Bad”’s to lose at this point.

"I gave up cigarettes I haven't had to light one yet And it's been a year since I stopped The same goes for alcohol I don't touch the stuff at all And I used to drink till I dropped Those were tough, this is easy And it feels so good to say Forgetting you is not that hard to do I've done it a thousand times a day
Friends said it'd take some time To get you off my mind They thought I'd never let you go Well, I guess I proved them wrong One more bad habit gone Just like the whiskey and the smokes Those were tough, this is easy Well, I'm all right, yeah, I'm okay Forgetting you is not that hard to do I've done it a thousand times a day"4. While “A Thousand Times a Day” has always been my least favorite single from this album, it has grown on me some over the years especially in revisiting it for her rankdowns. Even still, I never really have a strong desire to revisit this one much.

Assuming that “You Can Feel Bad” has this in the bag, I think I’m more anxious to see what songs #2 and #3 are going to be!!!

"I Miss Who I Was (With You)" is great, but definitely shocked to see it as the highest album track. I really don't see it being the highest finisher from this album when the album tracks rd happens. Although it definitely will still deserve to do pretty well! Maybe top 20 at best? I'm excited to find out! I hated how low I had to rank the title track... But this song takes soooooooo long to get into! I had never heard it until we started doing rankdowns, and then I didn't even remember it from her singles rd... So it was practically new to me when I started this album. I gave the whole thing a couple spins, then checked what the singles were, and was blown away to see this on the list... And then I checked the results from the singles rankdown and I saw that this one had a LOT of passion from a small handful of loud people, lol. It was immediately my last place, but listening to this album like 12 times over the past month it managed to grow on me all the way up to #8, so I can definitely see what tim is saying about it being a grower! It'll be interesting to see how I feel about it in a couple years! I do think it was a terrible single choice though, lol... "A Thousand Times A Day" deserved top 3 over "She Drew A Broken Heart", imo. There's just something so sneakily catchy about it! It's like impossible to listen to without thinking about the words, and then the words get stuck in your head... The whole song is just right in Patty's vocal wheelhouse, as this is the type of song that nobody could deliver quite like her.

I had thought it would be the opposite, but I’m glad that “Lonely Too Long” was able to edge out “She Drew a Broken Heart” in the album rankdown. I was actually quite surprised that the latter came out ahead in her artist rankdown as I had underestimated how much Pulse seems to love that song. This is the correct outcome here though!

Yes! I figured "She Drew A Broken Heart" had to be out next against "You Can Feel Bad" and "Lonely Too Long"! This one is catchy, and fun to listen to...but it's always just felt to me like kind of a generic '90s uptempo rather than something that is truly signature "Patty". That's the reason why it is my #4 on this list. As much as I love it, YCFB, LTL, and "A Thousand Times A Day" all have that signature Patty personality to them that nobody else would be able to do quite as well as her.

Exactly my sentiments regarding “She Drew A Broken Heart” as I’ve just never felt like it was a signature Patty song and has always felt a bit forced as though maybe the label wanted something like this included. Anyways, I’ve always been surprised by how much Pulse seems to love this one even despite my own reservations so I thought it might sneak into the top 2 (but I’m glad it didn’t!).

I LOVE "You Can Feel Bad" and if my #1 was not going to win, I'm glad to see this one win. "A Thousand Times A Day" would've been nice to see as well, but I'm not too upset here. This slayage too; everyone had it in the Top 3!

Now time to answer some prediction questions for Long Stretch of Lonesome, which I'll begin results for tomorrow night!
Here are some questions: What song will be #1? What songs will be in the top 3? What song will be #10? What songs will be in the bottom 3?

The correct outcome!!!!!!!
So, just about all of her hits except for "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye" and "Blame It On Your Heart" were new discoveries for me when we did her singles rankdown, so I honestly had no clue what the heck I was doing for most of that rankdown.... But overall the singles from this album stayed with me the most powerfully, and have been in regular rotation on my playlists pretty much since the day I did that singles rankdown.
"Lonely Too Long" has a really boring melody in theory, but something about Patty's delivery just makes it such an epic listening experience! It absolutely belongs up there among her best hits, and I am thrilled to see it pull off a top 2 finish here.
"You Can Feel Bad" is one of my favorite rankdown discoveries of all time, however! The "you can feel bad if it makes you feel better" hook is ICONIC!!!! Like, easily within the top 10 best turns-of-phrase I have ever heard in country music. The melody is insanely catchy, and the arrangement is still fresh, as has already been mentioned. It has always done really well in rankdowns, as it deserves, but I am thrilled to see it become the latest multi-rankdown winner finally! (It won for the first time a couple months back in the Matraca Berg songwriter rankdown)

What song will be #1? Probably "You Don't Seem To Miss Me"...... Although I'm hoping for "to HAAAAAVE YOU BAAAAAAAAAAAAAACKK AGAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIN! What songs will be in the top 3? "You Don't Seem To Miss Me", "To Have You Back Again", and "High On Love". With maybe "The Party Ain't Over Yet" sneaking in ahead of one of those. What song will be #10? "Where I'm Bound". What songs will be in the bottom 3? "Where I'm Bound", "Long Stretch Of Lonesome", and "Too Many Memories" (Although similar to the last album, nothing here deserves to do poorly!) Any other comments/thoughts? Unlike The Trouble With The Truth, the singles from this one are not that iconic to me. I LOVE "To Have You Back Again", like it is easily in my top 2 Patty songs of all time now!! But otherwise this album draws a lot more strength from its album tracks than Truth did. I'll be rooting for "The Party Ain't Over Yet", "I Don't Want To Feel Like That", and "That's Exactly What I Mean" in particular, as they all slay, and should easily be in my top 10 if they make the album tracks rankdown! YDSTMM is probably the fan favorite, but I could honestly take it or leave it.

What song will be #1? “To Have You Back Again” What songs will be in the top 3? “To Have You Back Again”, “You Don’t Seem to Miss Me”, and “Like Water Into Wine” What song will be #10? “Where I’m Bound” (although I’m very much against the idea of seeing this leave first) What songs will be in the bottom 3? “Where I’m Bound”, “That’s Exactly What I Mean”, “Long Stretch of Lonesome” Any other comments/thoughts? I completely agree with bboat11 that while the singles from this album aren’t as iconic from the releases that preceded this, overall the album feels much more cohesive as a whole compared to its predecessor. The strength of the album wholeheartedly lies within the album tracks.

What song will be #10? Too Many Memories

Any other comments/thoughts? Another great collection of songs by Patty. Not a bad song in the bunch.

What song will be #1? High On Love?
What songs will be in the top 3? You Don't Seem to Miss Me, High On Love... Maybe To Have You Back Again stands a shot for the other slot.
What song will be #10? Long Stretch of Lonesome or Where I'm Bound.
What songs will be in the bottom 3?Long Stretch of Lonesome, Where I'm Bound, I Don't Want to Feel Like That.
Any other comments/thoughts?So happy to see "You Can Feel Bad" won! It's my favorite song of hers. The only one that even competes is "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye." I just thought most Pulsers might prefer "Lonely Too Long," so I didn't want to get my hopes up YCFB would win.

"Never mind the struggle Never mind these tears I cry Through it all I will stay humble As I keep a watchful eye For that sweeter change of fortune That's closer now than it's been Where the memories that haunt me Are gonna someday be my friend When that long stretch of lonesome comes to an end
On some crazy river But I still have control And I will not surrender I'll stay true to heart and soul There's a sea of love awaiting Down at the river's end There I'll drown my sorrows And there I'll live again When that long stretch of lonesome comes to an end"9. “Where I”m Bound” deserved so much better than this. Disappointed but not surprised given that from the predictions it all but seemed quite likely this would leave first. Patty sounds so heavenly on this hauntingly sad yet beautiful song.
The title track is another great song, although given the strength of the album as a whole I think this one likely gets overshadowed a bit by the other songs. Not surprised to see this in the bottom 2.

I got the bottom 2 correct!
"Where I'm Bound" is basically in the same boat as "Someday I Will Lead The Parade" for me on the last album. In both instances, they started out high on my list, and then ended up falling to last place as I got several more listens under my belt and familiarized myself with everything. It's like they both just have a really stripped back sound to them that makes them not hold up to repeat listens as well as the more fully-produced songs on the albums, at least for me. I can totally understand people loving them though!
"Long Stretch Of Lonesome" is just such an oddly boring song to be used as the title track for this incredible album. I do like it, but not nearly as much as everything that I ranked above it. Tbh this bottom 2 was my easy bottom 2, and everything else from here on out was quite a struggle!

I like "Where I'm Bound," unlike SIWLtP, but even I didn't rank it high and I always expect ballads and overtly Christian songs to trend downwards in Pulse rankdowns as it is (and this was both of those things).
