WHAT! This rankdown just went to hell in a hand basket!
"I Don't Want To Feel Like That" is just so captivating to me! Something about the melody is just so understated and powerful. It immediately became one of my favorite Patty Loveless album tracks from the first time I heard it for your shuffle rankdown last month.
I knew its subdued nature would likely pick up some haters, but I at least thought it would make a run for more like the 5-6 range!

“I Don’t Want to Feel Like That” has grown on me some ever since it was included in the shuffle rankdown, but even then it wasn’t enough to escape my bottom 2. I in fact had this as my lowest ranking song ever since I completed my list sometime last year, but in revisiting the album again I asked castleoblivion26 to move it up one spot lol. I’m now kinda thinking I should’ve just left it as is because I just can’t really make it through the entirety of this song before wanting to hit skip. I’ll also say that I’m pleasantly surprised to see it leave this soon. “Too Many Memories” on the other hand is one of my favorite tracks from the album, although it did about as well as I expected it to considering I wasn’t expecting this to be a top 5 contender. This is also one of my go-to tracks from Patty’s overall discography. |

"Like Water Into Wine" is another song that is so well suited for an artist such as Patty and one that certainly was deserving of a top 5 finish here (especially over the mediocre "High On Love" #sorrynotsorry). taylor is terrified you and I seem to be the only ones in agreement here! |

I knew I was going to regret moving "That's Exactly What I Meant" into last place! I revisited this song just the other day and already knew I made a mistake lol. Anyways, it's still not one of my favorite tracks from the album but enjoyable nonetheless.

I can only assume they didn't want to release two uptempo songs back-to-back. “The Party Ain’t Over Yet” absolutely should have been a single. I would have released it second (or maybe even as the lead single), and pushed every other single back one place, and then stopped with “High On Love” as the fourth single. |

I absolutely adore Patty's delivery of "The Party Ain't Over Yet"  The way she delivers the line "Let the walls come tumbling down" especially is just SO catchy!!! This song sounds like a massive smash hit waiting to happen. I cannot wait to see how well it does in the album tracks rankdown! "High On Love" has a cheesy feel to it, and has really weird production compared to the rest of the album, but it is still a really catchy jam. I could only put it as high as #5 because I loved a couple of these album tracks more, but I do love this one a lot, and have only come to love it more with all the repeat listens it's been getting lately due to this rankdown plus the February Shuffle rankdown. Tbh I would be happy to see this one do even better in the Shuffle rd, as that list is overall a little weaker than this album (though still really strong). "To HAAAAAAAVE YOU BAAAAAAAACK AGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIINNNN" is such an amazing melody and vocal from Patty! I would slot this one in at #2 in her singles rankdown now, right on the heels of "You Can Feel Bad" The way she launches into the high note at the end of the chorus just will NOT leave my head! It's a C#5, which is higher than we're used to hearing from her regularly, and she absolutely nails it every damn time. This should have won, although I had my reservations because I knew "You Don't Seem To Miss Me" is a bit of a fan favorite, and they were close enough in the singles rd to where I knew they would still be competitive with each other here. "You Don't Seem To Miss Me" is just plain not one of my favorites from Patty's list of excellent singles... Part of it is that I think George Jones is a horrible background vocalist (he literally sticks out like a sore thumb in every non-solo song I have ever heard from him). But also the melody just kinda plods. Especially compared to something brisk and catchy and upbeat like "To Have You Back Again" or "High On Love"! That being said, it has grown on me a lot from when we did her singles rd. Putting it at 6/10 was a huge upgrade, because I honestly thought going into this thing that it might be my last place and I would look hella floppy! Anyway, thanks for hosting castleoblivion26! These are now my two favorite Patty albums, and I am eager to dive into her next two! I've already given Strong Hearts a couple of listens, and it's definitely not as immediate of an album, but a few things are already quickly starting to grow on me! And what's the other one? Is it time for "On your Way Home" to get its chance to slay ?!?!!?!  |

Strong Heart is among her worst albums to me, but On Your Way Home was a terrific return to (commercial) form.

I haven't decided for sure if those 2 will be next or if we'll do Dreaming My Dreams and Sleepless Nights next after these next two. |
