"I've Gotta Stop Loving You" is a somewhat surprising last place. It's not a standout or anything, but it seems like a perfectly fine ballad to me. There is nothing wrong with it. I imagine people just found it boring, plus this was a relatively strong album so something had to be last place.
"Feelings Of Love" has a melody that makes me want to like it, but the vocal performance is unfortunately quite ham-fisted... Patty's pitch wavers precariously close to out of tune for pretty much the entire song, and conveys no emotion whatsoever. I could see this being a beautiful ballad in the hands of a different vocalist.

Oh thank God! I thought I might look kinda floppy with my last place rank for this song. It is definitely a song that appears catchy upon first glance, but there are several issues that I just cannot get over. Most notably, who the heck wrote the lyric "We're going ON overtime"?! That is literally NOT an expression, and it grates on me SO much.... > Then there's the fact that the chorus is literally just repeating that bastardized phrase over and over and over and over and over. Melodically it is catchy enough that I could see past the repetition if the phrase had been "We're going into overtime". But the repetition combined with the dumb phrasing literally made me want to gauge my ears out. Easy #10 for me.

"Some Morning Soon" is one I had a hard time ranking. I really like the way she launches into the higher parts at the beginning of the chorus, but I also found other parts of the melody to be kinda clunky. Plus the song itself doesn't have a lot of energy and was a tad boring, so I ended up settling for the bottom 2 on my list. Now, "You Can't Run Away From Your Heart" got done dirty! This song has such a deliciously dark sound to it. I am not surprised to see it be LBTrocks' #2... Lmao. I am pretty hard on Patty's vocals on these first few albums, as she frequently sounds pitchy and unenthused when she is singing ballads, but this is one of those songs that works perfectly for early-Patty's voice. Definitely one I would have preferred to see in the top 5, but then again #6 ain't too bad I guess.

Oh. I just realized "Looking In The Eyes Of Love" is the last album track remaining! I couldn't have told you in a million years what the singles had been from this album, but I just looked it up. Kinda surprised to see such relatively inconsequential singles reigning supreme. I feel like in this case it speaks more to the strength of the singles than it does to any kind of single bias!

This was definitely one of the better album cuts on the record. The hit singles being the top 4 is pretty predictable tho, as they were all well-chosen this era.

"Looking In The Eyes Of Love" is definitely one of the stronger ballads on this album. Patty's voice really navigates this melody well. I'm okay seeing this be the highest album track, although it definitely does seem like the singles were the true strength of this album.
Regarding the singles, I am okay seeing "On Down The Line" leave first. This one is okay, but it is one of those uptempos where the melody kinda grates on me if I listen to it for too long, like George Strait's "If You Ain't Lovin' (You Ain't Livin')". The other singles are much better.
I'm eager to see how the top 3 turn out! None of them are well-known standouts that are obvious winners, a la "Timber, I'm Fallin' In Love" or "Chains". I could see any of the three winning. I personally would prefer to see "The Night's Too Long" pull it off.

And now the correct single is out first, too! The other 3 are all perfect.

Oop, are we finishing this tonight?? Bring it on!!!!!!! "Blue Memories" is quite catchy. I just double checked my list for the singles rankdown, and it looks like I ranked this one in like my bottom 5 I do remember her bigger hits won me over more and her older stuff kinda blended together. But apparently I like it well enough to be in my top 2 for the album now...

YAS!!!! The only choice for #1. "I'm That Kind of Girl" is an epic jam and vocal masterpiece. I adore it. Thanks for hosting again castleoblivion26!

and there you have it! "I'm That Kind of Girl" owned the top of this rankdown!
Thank you all for participating. I'll try and begin Up Against My Heart tomorrow night but will likely need to wait until Sunday evening to start it, but it is coming soon!

The top 2 were both great, but "I'm That Kind Of Girl" is the clear standout of this album. Glad it won!

I see I forgot to come back around to On Down the Line when it wrapped up so let me at least post a few thoughts:
I was first introduced to "Looking in the Eyes of Love" by Alison Krauss as she recorded it for her So Long So Wrong album and I've always loved it . Because of that I tend to want to compare her version to Patty's which is good but just doesn't have that feeling of nostalgia I get from Alison's. I'm still thrilled it made it into the top five as that is also where I ranked it.
"Blue Memories" grew on me a bit more this time around than when I listened to it for her singles rankdown. I almost put this inside my top three but in the end it fell one spot short.
I got a perfect ranking for the top two so this ended on the right note! "I'm That Kind of Girl" is fun, playful, and flirty all at the same time!!

Now this next series is not starting off on the right note as y'all really did "If You Don't Want Me" dirty. This is probably one of my all-time favorite album tracks by Patty so it's gut-wrenching to see y'all tank it.
