This to me is his least interesting single to date. But if this is the low end of the spectrum, then that's a good thing. I find that Luke has flavor, and his material has a traditional sound with enough modern trappings to keep it fresh.

Other than Garth Brooks debuting at #1, what was the fastest climb to the top? I think that in the 90s there were a few 4-5 week runs. In the 2000s I know that Chesney rose to #1 in 8 weeks a few times. More recently, Blake took “Honey Bee” to the top in 10 weeks and if I’m not mistaken Jason Aldean has one reach #1 in 10 weeks also. Luke Bryan had two 11 week runs in 2015.

Kenny Chesney’s “Never Wanted Nothing More” and “Don’t Blink” each took 8 weeks.

Has anyone ever moved to A-list status this quickly? His songs are moving faster than anyone with really only two years under his belt. Arena tour is pretty much sold out for every show with rather unknowns as supporting acts. There is little doubt that Luke is on a roll.

Two came immediately to mind for me: Carrie Underwood and Florida Georgia Line. They pretty much were A-Listers right from the get-go.

Every single was massive.

Wow when was the last time someone had two solo singles in the top 10? From the Billboard Country Update: Pretty impressive feat. "Something Like That" was a monster hit. Recurrent rules on R&R (now Mediabase) were the same then as it is now -- three weeks without a bullet and you're sent recurrent (unless a song is at #1). "Something Like That" left the R&R chart in early November but stayed on Billboard until March of 2000 (five months after exiting #1!). Songs had to drop below the top 25 back then in 2000. Then Billboard changed it to songs below spins or audience in the top 20, then top 15...and finally, top 10, after the number of weeks spent by "If You're Going Through Hell" in that 11-15 range in late 2006. Luke's accomplishment is very impressive nowadays. "Beautiful Crazy's" bullet is still well over 700 on Mediabase. It has flown up the chart and is also one of the songs dominating sales -- top 15 on iTunes all-genre chart. I can honestly say I have never seen a country artist's radio career start this hot, this fast.

What I thought was just a pipe dream may actually be happening. "Beautiful Crazy" is gaining fast on "What Makes You Country." As of Monday, Combs was behind Bryan by about 4 million audience on Billboard and about 6 million audience on Mediabase. As of today, Combs has narrowed the Mediabase audience gap to about 3.7 million. So basically Combs cut the gap in half. Bryan will most likely still get his week, but there may be a battle of the two Lukes coming soon.

Leapfrog from #10 to #4 on Billboard country airplay this week, with 5.282M audience increase. Must be one of the highest boosts not counting after adds/pre-arranged airplay.

I'm calling it right now. Beautiful Crazy will be #1 in February. With the rapid rise I think this could be 4+ weeks at the top. It'll be there in 2 weeks.

Luke has a post on Instagram a week or two ago and asked who would like a studio version of “Beer Never Broke My Heart”. This makes me think that’s one of the reasons they’re pushing this up the charts so fast. I’ve said all along it will be the lead single probably from his second album. He’s been playing a couple other good tunes that should no doubt be on the new album including the excellent “Dear Today” and the equally great “Every Little Bit Helps”. Luke is going to be a force in country music for many years to come. My bold prediction is he will be right up there with Conway, George and McGraw as far as #1 hits are when all is said and done.

This is flying up the chart because radio believes their listeners want to hear “Beautiful Crazy.” I know many local testing for stations have been great with this song and of course, it’s selling amazing for a country format single.
Most labels would take all their singles flying up the chart. Luke is red hot and he’s an artist that is good for business, with radio. This is also a song that stations have wanted as a single for months. Perfect storm of circumstances is why this is a monster hit.

Beer Never Broke My Heart is great. But One Too Many which was debuted during concerts last weekend is damn good as well. Super fun song.
Bottom line is Luke, Rob, Ray Fulcher, and team do a great job of crafting of exceptionally relate-able songs.

After Scotty finishes his second week at #1 with “This is It”, I’m expecting “Beautiful Crazy” to take the Billboard #1 next Monday. UMG Nashville is maxing “What Makes You Country” next week and I’m sure they’ll get Bryan to #1 on Mediabase. I think the same could be said for “Take it From Me” by Jordan Davis, which will be maxed after Bryan.
After that? There’s a huge gap between Combs and potential contenders to take #1. UMG will get their artist to #1 on MB (or at least they’ll make the effort), but I can see “Beautiful Crazy” spending at least 4 weeks at #1 on Billboard Airplay.

They are also working on a new video for BC as well. It appears they are laying the foundation to keep the song fresh on the consumption side. The current YT BC video is already over 90,000,000 views.

With the duet with Brooks & Dunn on the chart, does anyone think we'll get a sixth This One's For You single?

With the duet with Brooks & Dunn on the chart, does anyone think we'll get a sixth This One's For You single? I doubt it. But Never Met You was just certified Gold...so it would probably be another #1 if they wanted to hold off on the new album.
