From what i've seen in chart history, "Jingle Bell Rock", "Rockin Around The Christmas Tree", "Last Christmas" and Nat King Cole's "Christmas Song" all returned this week in a lower position than their peak. Meanwhile "It's a Wonderful Time Of The Year" and "A Holly Jolly Christmas" both re-entered at new peaks (#21 and #26, respectively)

Hopefully "Last Christmas" can make it into the top 40. Wham!/George Michael deserve another top 40 hit. Not only that, but I hope that somehow it will be able to top the UK charts during Christmas. The song came extremely close last year but was blocked by "Perfect".

I remember another similar case like this was "Hey mama" by David Guetta. Bebe Rexha wasn't credited but was later added. I think I remember he saying in an interview that they didn't want to credit her because it would look ugly or something so they named the bigger names on the song at the time.

Same with how everyone wanted the chorus to “The Monster” and the stuff they would do to her to get it. Further testament to how the music industry has incredibly mistreated Bebe Rexha.

Can either of you (or anyone for that matter) explain to me why the background vocalist 'Sharlotte Gibson' wasn't credited on Toni Braxton's "He Wasn't Man Enough"?

This seemed to be common amongst several songs of Braxton's in the late 90's/early 00's and many R&B songs of that period in general.

If you listen to the song itself Gibson is LITERALLY singing the entire pre-chorus and chorus alongside Braxton - she has clear solo lines sung and her voice is at the forefront. If anything, I would say she dominates the most memorable elements of the song.

I understand why a record company or producer may not want to credit a background vocalist as a featured act on a lead/premier acts song but in cases like these I was always confused.

In the 80's, 90's and there was a very healthy industry of session singers and background vocalists who got a flat fee for studio vocal work, regardless of how prominent the vocals were on the final cuts. In fact, session singing has always existed in modern recorded music but it really blossomed during that time period as music became more commercialized and labels started using more smoke and mirrors for lesser talents. Session singing is a real viable alternative for talented singers who wouldn't otherwise make it as solo recording artist (or perhaps not interested in pursuing that path)so they get contracted to go into the studio for a session(s), get a one off check and keep their mouths shut.

Getting credit for vocals, songwriting and producing is really a more recent phenomenon as musicians started to realize that the real money was in ownership through publishing and other royalties. That meant contractually negotiating your name into a portion of the credits to guarantee those residual checks.

I saw that too, however the only Year-Ends listed were Top Artist year-ends. Not any Top Song/Album tallies. I'm assuming all his #1's were too long for the picture lol. 

For example, even if God's Plan wasn't #1 on Hot 100 Year-End, it'd still be #1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs or Hot Rap Songs. And those weren't listed in the picture.

Top Radio Songs Artist. Meaning he was the top artist on the chart combining all songs that charted.

No individual songs or albums are on that list, so I wouldn't read much into it in terms of what's #1 song (or album) of the year. 

I'm pretty sure he has both (although my own methodology puts Perfect on top).

The tracking period is different for that, April 2018 - March 2019 I believe. However I assume he has a good chance.

I'm not worried about that. Nice for What and In My Feelings fall into that tracking period and they're two of the biggest songs of the year. Billboard won't miss a chance to hand him tons of awards, if only so he'll break the record, kinda like the AMAs did this year with Taylor Swift.

Actually that was kind of it. Kesha said in an Esquire interview that year that Flo's team asked her to be in the video, but she declined because she wanted "to make my own name for myself." Her name was taken off almost immediately after - I think at the time there was an assumption that it was a petty/shady move, but Kesha herself likely didn't care b/c she had already gotten what she could out of it. Tik Tok was released just months later.
