LMFAO.
Imagine thinking that their exists no "classic" nor influential albums in today's/this generations cultural climate, post-2000.
Their are many (both in and out of 'Mainstream' music):
= Confessions (Usher) = Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded (Rihanna) = Back To Black (Amy Winehouse) = Blunderbuss (Jack White) = + (Ed Sheeran) = Teenage Dream (Katy Perry) = 1989 (Taylor Swift) = 21 (Adele) = Take Care (Drake) = Channel Orange (Frank Ocean) = Dangerously In Love (Beyonce) = The Fame/Monster (Lady GaGa) = College Dropout/My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (Kanye West) = Hybrid Theory/Meteora (Linkin Park) = The Blueprint + 2 (Jay-Z) = Let Go (Avril Lavigne) = Missundaztood (P!NK) = Confessions On A Dancefloor (Madonna) = Vespertine (Bjork) = The Marshall Mathers LP/The Eminem Show (Eminem) = Get Rich Or Die Tryin' (50 Cent) = One By One (Foo Fighters) = Born To Die (Lana Del Rey) = Pure Heroine (Lorde)
etc.
All of the aforementioned albums had a profound impact on music at their peaks, or at least varying degrees of major influence on the state of their respective genres and many artists that followed thereafter, and are still seeing great recurrent success today especially as the consumption climate continually shifts, some more than others.
We're not going to pretend that when Michael Jackson released "BAD" in 1987 the general consensus was that the album was going to cement itself as an automatic "classic" and be of great artistic inspiration for years/decades to come? The same applies to any Prince, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Janet Jackson, Tupac, Nirvana, Guns & Roses etc. album that has ever been released.
: In the Dance/New Wave/Glam + Arena Rock era of the mid-1980's you had many people complaining about how they missed the "classic" neutral, organic and less synthesized/commercialised Rock-Pop era of the mid-1970's.
: In the Hip-Hop Soul-oriented Contemporary R&B era of the mid-1990's you had people complaining about how they missed the "classic" soulful and sophisticated, Funk influenced, less overly-produced R&B era of the mid-1970's to mid-1980's.
: In the sparse, minimalist, Indie-driven R&B era of the 2010's you have people COMSTANTLY complaining about how they miss the "classic" Darkchild/Bryan-Michael-Cox/Timbaland R&B era that dominated the early-to-mid 2000's.
"Classic" songs and albums are all shaped and colored differently depending on the musical/sonic landscape that dominates during that particular time.

There are so many albums from the 21st century that can be considered a classic.

I would say there's at least one classic album from this generation... Biggest Billboard 200 album of all-time according to Billboard. So iconic!

"21" is one of the biggest albums of all time. It can be compared to "Thriller" or "The Bodyguard" EASILY.

Is this the 12/15 H100 thread or a "Whose 'legend' has the biggest...C.D.?"
Back to data, will the 6 Xmas songs continue this unprecedented rise and possibly be joined by others this week? Will Meek Mill and/6ix9nine place enough in Top 50 to block new ones or kick out a couple of the 6?
Will Breathin' edge closer to Top 10?

I watched a clip of an interview that Mariah Carey did recently where she said there are no legends and no classic albums from this generation of artists and it left a bad taste in my mouth. I know she meant well because it didn't seem like she was being shady, but when older artists say things like that, it's hard not to see them as being bitter. Yes, a lot of the music coming out in this generation is low-quality, but EVERY generation of musicians has had artists who put out wack, bottom-of-the-barrel music. It's nothing new. I also did not agree with her opinion at all. We have MULTIPLE artists who are considered icons, if not legends already. Drake and Rihanna are not legends, at least not yet. The closest thing to a legend is Beyonce. Gettting certifications doesn’t make anyone a legend. It’s past beyond that. So go get yourself some mouthwash. You don't get 14 number ones and not be a legend lol. All of Beyoncé rihanna and drake are legends

^^What 6 Xmas songs? I would imagine the only one to actually crack the top 10 would be Mariah's.

Breathin is doing pretty well on radio still. I'm crossing my fingers that it can spend a week or two in the top ten before Thank U, Next catches up to it. And considering GLY, Lucid Dreams, Youngblood and Better Now are all falling, I think it's very possible!

Holy crap, 6 songs in the top 40 already, damn! Impressive AF. Oh, and "Last Christmas" at 43. Surprised that one isn't higher.
Why is there something so lovely about seeing the likes of Nat King Cole and Brenda Lee in the charts?

do "the most wonderful time of the year" and "rockin around the christmas tree" have a chance at reaching the top 10? that'd be pretty iconic if we had three christmas songs in the top 10 at the same time.

What has Beyoncé done that is legendary? She successfully faked a pregnancy once.

imagine Kendrick pouring his heart and soul into To Pimp a Butterfly and some CLOWNS having the nerve to say there's been no classic albums since 2000

And though albums like 1989 and Teenage Dream don't have the critical acclaim that TPAB has, I would say they will qualify as classics based on commercial success alone.

The "classics" discussion was clearly about sales and overall performance aswell as how well known the albums are to the general public instead of quality. If quality was an indicator there'd be a lot of albums ahead of even 21, which is great in its own right.
But like, what does this have to do with the H100? I swear these threads keep getting messier and messier by the week.

You gotta have to watch the whole interview... What Mariah meant was that with music being consumed so easily these days, albums do not have that lasting impact as before. And why would you really expect Mariah to list 1989 or 21 as a classic album, come on. She's from a different era, she's not a twenty something who grew up listening to Taylor Swift. The definition of a classic album for her is very different than what we think.
And I can't at those who are undermining her accomplishments just because of this comment.

I love the fact that some people took the time to drag her and diminish her accomplishments without even seeing this interview or checking its context.

"Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded" (Rihanna) - it's recurrent streams are collosal especially for an album that was released in 2007 - and "The Fame/Monster" (Lady GaGa). There are many more of course.
