I like 'Stomp' just fine, but I think I'm a little spoiled because I'm more familiar with the Marcia & Deni Hines cover version (lol here I am again with another Aussie connection). Listening to the original version sounded 'wrong' to me because the Marcia/Deni cover is in a different key.

If it wasn't for the fact that "Rise" went out in the previous set, I'd still have my top 19 in. My #44 is literally all that is standing between me clearing my bottom 75, and that song is still pretty decent.

I feel pretty confident "Fame", "Ladies Night", and (unfortunately) "Pop Muzik" and "Take Your Time" won't last to the top 10. Beyond them, who knows (well, Unhinged does). I'd like to be down to only the truly great stuff -- meaning, my top 25 -- by the top 10, but I'm assuming my 32 and 33 will both be there. 🤷

Hard to understand how Tusk with 2 #1s and 1 #2 is below that mediocre Spinners song that didn't get any Top 10 ranks. "Tusk" had 6 ranks 50 or below (with 15 Top 40's and a 99 placement) whereas the Spinners had just 3 ranks below 50 (16 Top 40's and its lowest being 82). At this stage of the game bottom ranks really kill a songs chances.

That's awesome that all of my top 10 are still in this! Also, I'm relieved that my #1 made the top 20 because I wasn't sure that it would make it this far.
Almost everything left is in my top 30 except for my #57. I'm surprised this song is so well loved considering the other song by this artist went out a ways back and I felt both songs from this artist were equally good.

The right Fleetwood Mac song remains! WMWBTY would've been my #1, but I didn't expect it to get so close to the top 20 in the first place tbh. Also, super happy that both Tom Petty songs are still in!

Wow I'm not sure how Stomp, Give Me the Night, and I Can't Tell You Why made it so low on my list but I'm glad they made it this far. I wish I had given them a couple more listens before I finalized my list.

40. How Do I make You (28): A popular song back home, quite catchy, well sung, and with great energy. I still like her more in Don’t know much and Somewhere out there, but this is right below them. Wish this had stuck a bit longer. 39. No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) (5): Such an epic duet!! I love dramatic, epic songs, and I’m a disco fan, so this was a no-brainer favorite in this RD. It’s like a telenovela of a song pretty good vocals throughout the song, plus a nice combo of a ballad and a dance tune. One of my favorite diva duets ever... and speaking of divas, I also like the cover done by the random pairing of Erasure’s Andy Bell and k. d. lang initially for the Brits and then as a single. Good job but the original sounds better youtu.be/9NW6jyE4Z0M38 Too Hot (55): I like Kool but this among my least favorite of their singles. Still appreciate its qualities... 37. Let's Get Serious (20): I’m not sure if this was a first listen or a rediscovery. In any case, this wasn’t popular back home and I had unfairly forgotten about it. It’s a jam and a half and my highest ranked unfamiliar song, beating several popular and remembered songs (including a couple of his brother). This should’ve been much higher—It’s one of the most progressive sounding songs in this RD! 36.Cruisin' (69): I’ve heard more of this song in talent shows than back in the 80s... and I’m still not into it. I respect its quality as a classic r&b song but it’s not my cup of tea. 35. Rise (50): this is a pleasant surprise! I slightly under ranked it so it’s good to see it this high. Pretty good composition (although my favorite Herb’s song would come 2 years later with Fandango) 34. The Second Time Around (56): pretty good tune but not as strong as it could be. If the chorus had been a bit stronger I would’ve ranked it higher 33. Against The Wind (36): I’ve always liked the classic rock energy and melancholic melody underneath it. One of Bob’s best tunes. 32. Heartache Tonight (51): I like it but it’s a bit too simple, happy go lucky to make my top 50. ICTYW was a more complex song to me and thus was my top Eagles song this year. 31. Ride Like The Wind (13): No!!! I didn’t write 31 but 13. Argh! I mean, this is a great song! Pop, with rock, disco, and progressive influences. This sounded like no other song in this RD, and Chris painted it with unique vocal delivery. This was my second biggest loss so far :(( 30 Take The Long Way Home (57): Back in the day I had a bit of a hard time to ‘get’ Supertramp’s music. My brother was a fan, but to me their music wasn’t as catchy. Then It’s raining again came and became a big favorite of mine. In the early 1990s my brother bought a CD with a compilation of Supertramp hits, I relistened to them and I liked them much more. I slightly under-ranked this one, but in any case it’s not in my top 5 Supertramp songs... 29 Still Rock’n Roll to Me (30): a different kinda rock song that works effectively with Billy’s delivery. 28 I Can’t Tell You Why (32): sounds more AC than rock, but I really like the instrumentation and vocals here. Good to see this as the highest Eagles song. 27 Stomp! (17): I don’t remember hearing this back home in the 80s. I discovered it only a few years ago, and it sounds as fresh as ever. Quite a strong song. 26 Let My Love Open the Door (74): another song that’s good and all but just felt a bit too simple to me. Maybe it being a first listen made me severely under rank it...

Cool, everything left is in my top 35. I'd prefer for any of the songs in my 30s to not make the top 10 (although there's no way in hell my #32 isn't making it there), but I can't really complain all too much.
(side note, now that "Understanding" is out: had "Turn It on Again" been the Duke single here, it would have been in my top 3. I can't even say "at least we'll rank it in Active", considering that that chart didn't exist until 1981.)

Unhinged, thanks for posting the Canadian Top 100. I finally got through listening to the songs that weren't in the American Top 100. There were some incredible hits that somehow missed in America (the Police, Peter Gabriel, ELO), but a few of these were WTF moments (I'm looking at you Peter Piper and Money)
16 Echo Beach - Martha and the Muffins (7) Had heard of the group before, but had never listened to them before. She sounds a lot like Debbie Harry. The song grows on me, I’m sure the more I listen I’d probably rank this higher
20 Rock Lobster - The B-52s (9) Timeless and what a great song to get down to the floor with. #56 in US and #1 in Canada.
27 Rapper’s Delight - The Sugarhill Gang (6.5) A classic, sounds a bit dated. I like the beat.
30 Video Killed the Radio Star - The Buggles (8) A fun tune, it gets extra points for being so kitschy and being the first video played on MTV. The caliber of the talent of the Buggles and the fact that this hit #1 in 16 countries (#40 in US) is amazing
31 Boulevard - Jackson Browne (9) This is a really good tune. Have always loved it, the ending is a bit weak but otherwise a strong tune. Surprised this only got to #19, but Jackson was never hugely consistent on radio.
34 Message in a Bottle - The Police (9.75) A phenomenal tune and a fun story. The fact that this only got to #74 in the US is staggering. This always sound like a song that would have come out in 1982, not 1979. The Police were clearly ahead of their time, at least w/ regards to the US.
45 Don’t Ask Me Why - Billy Joel (9) A great tune, always thought this was highly underrated. Another song that only got to #19. I think It’s Still Rock and Roll To Me probably wouldn’t go away on radio and may have impacted the next single.
46 Cocaine/Tulsa Time - Eric Clapton (7) No comments, I've heard this song ad nauseum.
48 Fine State of Affairs - Burton Cummings (7) Had never heard this before. Not bad.
49 Janine – Trooper (5) Had never heard this before. Very middle of the road.
55 I Don’t Like Mondays - The Boomtown Rats (7) People used to refer to this almost religiously. I think it’s okay, nothing incredible
57 Games Without Frontiers - Peter Gabriel (8.75) A great tune, one of Peter’s best. #4 in the UK. #7 in Canada. #48 in US.
59 Money - The Flying Lizards (5) Love the original. One of the strangest remakes I’ve ever heard. My God, what were they smoking up in Canada? While I think it is slightly clever, it is way too muted for me.
60 I’m Alive – ELO (9.75) Love ELO. Love this song. This is a time machine song for me…
61 Dreamer – Supertramp (7) Like most of Supertramp’s stuff. This is a pleasant ditty at best.
63 The Wanderer - Donna Summer (8) She’s done better, but this is better than I recalled. I like how her voice sounds different between the verses and the chorus.
64 Why Me – Styx (5) Like Styx and Dennis DeYoung sounds good as usual, but this doesn’t do much for me. I can see why this only went to #26 in the US.
66 Don’t Stand So Close to Me - The Police (9) Love the video. Love the song and the much maligned 1986 remake.
70 You’ll Accompany Me - Bob Seger (6.5) Living in Detroit it seems sacrilegious to rate this so low. Song is just okay IMO. Bob sounds great, but the lyrics are a bit repetitive.
71 Xanadu - Olivia Newton-John (10) The marriage of ONJ and ELO is probably the second best combination since Peanut Butter and Jelly. Love the song, love the instrumentation, love her voice, love ELO’s backing vocals. Sometimes cheesy can be pop perfection.
78 Making Plans for Nigel – XTC (6.5) I like XTC, but this is not one of their stronger offerings
79 She’s So Cold - The Rolling Stones (6.5) I sort of knew this song. I like Mick’s delivery, the song just seems a little underbaked and not fully developed
82 Fool in the Rain - Led Zeppelin (9) Not a huge Led Zeppelin fan, but I am surprised that this one only made the high 20’s (or so). This is very classic LZ IMO. Love the piano and police whistle bit in the song.
84 Real Love - The Doobie Brothers (7.5) Good tune, but a bit more sedate than I like my Doobies tunes.
86 Jane - Jefferson Starship (8.75) Great opener, great instrumentation. One of Jefferson Starship’s best. How this didn’t make the Top 10, I don’t know…
87 It’s Hard to Be Humble - Mac Davis (5.5) – I knew this one, pretty benign and a bit humorous.
91 Let’s Talk Dirty - The Knack (4) A complete rip-off of My Sharona, which they are entitled to do (I guess). I thought this was called “Baby Talks Dirty”. Whatever the case, pretty forgettable
93 Turning Japanese - The Vapors (8) Kitschy, but what a great song about taking matters into your own hands. There is NO WAY that this song could come out now. The political incorrectness of this song is off the scale.
94 Dream Police - Cheap Trick (7.5) Great video, good unique song. These guys were the epitome of cool and their songs were fun rockers.
95 Head Games – Foreigner (6.5) Fun tune, not one of their best. The best part of the song is the opening, IMO
96 Peter Piper - Frank Mills (6.0) I never heard this before. I liked his follow up song Happy Man more. I can’t believe that radio played these frankly, but they did play the St. Elmo’s Fire instrumental by David Foster as well as the Hill Street Blues theme song so there used to be a small place for instrumentals on radio.
98 He’s So Shy - The Pointer Sisters (9) The song, the story, the Pointer Sisters. This song is the s**t - my favorite of all their songs.
99 Jesse - Carly Simon (8.0) – one of her better non A/C only tunes, IMO
