This is a travesty to end all travesties. The fact that this horrible meme song actually impacted Alt radio significantly caused me to stop listening to and following Alt radio altogether. I swear I will go back and change all my Weezer rankings (specifically the Maladroit and Back To The Shack singles) to reflect the fact that they don't belong at the bottom but goddammit THIS SONG DOES.
Also Toto trolled Weezer expertly by covering Hash Pipe in response.

This is overhated. Sure, the original is better, but I still really dug the added instrumentals, and my love of the original really boosted my ranking of it.

I wish Zombie had outperformed Africa. I found one to be a strong cover, the other just there.
And not a fan of the synths following the second chorus.

That cover is still the best thing Weezer's done for this crappy era of theirs.
Also, forget Toto, Weezer and Mr. Worldwide, THIS is the best version of Africa.

70. I Miss Those Days - Yeah, this very much deserves its "meh" standing. The wrong Bleachers song made the rankdown.
69. Astronaut - This one's about where it belongs too. It's interesting and doesn't grate on me, but never fully clicked either.
68. All My Friends - Glad this is finally out. Really generic, kind of annoying, and definitely NOT what I was hoping for from them. At least they redeemed themselves with "Change".
67. Electrified - A little too close to older MGMT for comfort, but undeniably catchy, and that was enough for it to sneak into my top 50 in this underwhelming year. Plus I'm inclined to show goodwill towards him because "Soul Train" is awesome.
66. Preacher Man - Another song that deserves its meh ranking.
65. 1950 - Interesting lyrics with appealing vocals and melodies. Nothing amazing but I enjoyed it.
64. Crossing A Line - Wasn't a fan of this, it's bland bordering on annoying. Overstayed a little.
63. Best Friend - About time my #91 showed up. I didn't think it would have such support, but I guess it does have some redeeming qualities. I just can't overlook the massively cringey "ya" part.
62. One Foot - How the mighty have fallen. I actually didn't mind this one so much at first, but after a while it got super annoying. Glad this missed top 50 at least.
61. When The Curtain Falls - Nope, not here for this blatant knockoff of a band that's overrated to begin with. Nice job, fellow tankers - now just one bottom 10 to go.
60. Can We Hang On? - Very fitting for this to land here and to be the lowest SD, it's the epitome of "meh". Would have been nice if it was one spot lower though. :)
59. Dream - Don't get how this one did so much better than "White Flag", I think it's slightly worse if anything. Definitely not a fan anyhow.
58. Giver - Could have stood to make top 50, but I can live with this ranking. "High Enough" still doesn't deserve to be her lowest ranked song though.
57. Saturday Sun - Also wouldn't have minded seeing this in the top 50, but I'm glad this at least did better than "Lay It On Me". Couldn't stand that one, but this one's solid.
56. Africa - I'll admit that my first impression was that it was an okay cover, albeit completely unnecessary. But apathy quickly turned to antipathy as the damn thing kept hanging around. By the time the video came out, not even Weird Al could save it for me. Yay for clearing my bottom 10 before the top 50!
Not a good set of extras. I normally like to support Jersey bands, but "Peace Sign" is awful. The Mike Posner song sucks too, and I liked "Cooler Than Me" and "I Took A Pill In Ibiza". The Francis and the Lights song is the best of these, it's interesting enough, but I couldn't really get into it.

70: I Miss Those Days - Kinda boring for Bleachers tbh. 69: Astronaut (Something About Your Love) - Yeah similar to my thoughts on the ODESZA song, this was pleasant. 68: All My Friends - A huge step down from their previous two singles. At least they rebounded with "Change". 67: Electrified - Now this was a song that grew on me to some extent, but still not enough for me to put it in my top 50. "Soul Train" is much better. 66: Preacher Man - Here's another song I never got the appeal of from the start, and I overranked it a bit. Bland indie pop. 65: 1950 - Here is a song I thought was a snoozefest at first, but like "Electrified", it grew on me. 64: Crossing a Line - And here we have another song I probably underranked. Landed about where it should be on the overall list though. 63: Best Friend - The "do you want to meet me at the bar" line ruined the song. Great bassline, though. 62: One Foot - And this has not held well. Overranked it 61: When the Curtain Falls - Oh, here is the Led Zeppelin knockoff band. It's still better than more than half the list, and I do like the throwback sound, although this was weaker than their previous three songs to chart. "Safari Song" is the best of the three! 60: Can We Hang On? - "First" 2.0. This was not a great era for then. 59: Dream - Much better than "White Flag". 58: Giver - And another of my 40s songs gets out here. 57: Saturday Sun - Much better than "Lay It on Me". Wished it stayed a little longer but I shouldn't be too surprised. 56: Africa - Imo this was a good enough cover, but I get the hate.
Peace Sign had a good instrumental but the lyrics suck. May I Have This Dance would've been in my top 50, and Song About You would've been in like my 60s region or so.

First off before I forget. I really like the presentation of the album art, the song statistics and M.Vs. Presentation is everything. Now moving on.... 70. Bleachers - I Miss those DaysWhat can I say about this song, except that I miss the days when songs like "Don't Take The Money" were on the Alt chart. It made for a better year in Alt music too. 69. Mansionair - Something about your love.More like something I would never listen to again. Queen knew how to insert Fingersnaps into songs. Billy Squier also did. Wham were experts, but in songs like these they just make the song seem endless. This sounds like EDM under wanna be Alternative cloak. I loathe it and I'm glad its out. My last bottom 10 leech is a song quite a few of you liked, but I hope it also has some haters?68. The Revivalists - All My FriendsAlt music has become sooooo bland ,lifeless, and boring vocally.... and all these bands wanna sound radio safe. They are all scared to put a little high volume in their singing and in the end they all sound Auto tuned. 67. J ust Loud - ElectrifiedLooks like a distant cousin of that Weeknd fellow and this song is anything but loud. More like "Kids" in coma mode, but It isn't melodically awful. 66. The Driver Era - Preacher ManDeserves its own post. 65. King Princess - 1950.It's not a snoozer. It's a Pleasant song, but not much more to it. She looks hungry in the vids thumbnail. 64. Mike Shinaoda - Crossing A LineI know the lot of you love Linkin Park, but This guy went from tuff boy Rock rapp to this? I don't even know what to call this? Maybe he dedicated this to Chester, but still don't like it one bit. 63. Sofi Tukker feat. too many damn artists in one song - Best FriendFirst off I'm not a fan of cramming all these acts into one song. I don't need that....Unless it s a christmas song. Duet are also fine, but this is ridiculous. The result is a song that is all over the place except in my mp3 archives. Sofi is kinda hot tho, so sorry.. 62. Walk The Moon - One Foot aka "footjob". Better than a blow job but not the real thing. I would have preferred a clone of "Shut Up and Dance". The one thing i like about this song is the chorus. It has NRG beats, @humanshazam (birds being sucked into a vaccuum is music to my ears.) :kii: 61. Greta Van Fleet - When The Curtain FallsNot the least surprised which ones of us put this in their top 20. I still think the album art for the single is one of sleekest of the year. Perfect combo of colors. 60. Cold war Kids - Can We Hang On?These guys asking me if I can hang one? I could barely stay awake. I hate these songs that seem to stay in the same melody from start to finish. Feels like being stuck in traffic. 59. Bishop Briggs - DreamOne of my favorite Alternative ballads in recent years. The Music video has a lot to do with it, but she also doesn't sound pissed nor angry. 58. K. Flay - GiverThis is alright. More or less where it belongs. My favorite will always be "High Enough". This one didn't even come close. 57. Vance Joy - Saturday SunYuk. I was always against song like " Riptide" from the start, because I foresaw this terrible year in Alt coming sooner than later. This sounds like some silly Mister Rogers back round show music. 56. Weezer - Africaeh at least I don't have to see this song being guessed for the reminder of the rank down. Its also better than that atrocious cover someone else posted earlier.

My highest loss so far. 66. The Driver Era - Preacher ManYou guys all blew it here. 8D I'm not surprised I'm its highest ranker. I Wanna BEliEEEEEEEEEEve! This is singing. "john" Era really Drives those notes home. The falsetto is powerful and full of force. This guy isn't afraid to sing. Don't just preach it, Scream it.

Can We Hang On was easily better than their song with Bishop, don't know why that went out first but whatever.
Also, I want a spotless bottom 20 before the top half, can we shut Dashboard and Two Feet out while we're at it?

Is Superorganism and The 1975 hanging on until the top half edition*:
*Because I get the hint about "&Run" references
70. I Miss Those Days---Decent, but it's a far cry from the best of the Bleachers.
69. Astronaut---Much like Odesza's song, it's very meh. Nothing much else to say on it.
68. All My Friends---This group has done nothing other than disappoint me since coming into being. You've have 10 musicians and you can only write about getting high? Pleasant, but considering the potential, this should have rocked.
67. Electrified---It was OK. Nothing special, though.
66. Preacher Man---Nice first time discovery. Groovy singing and clever lyrics pushed this onto my top quarter before I knew it.
65. 1950---Another pleasant discovery, but kind of nondescript other than "nice".
64. Crossing a Line---I guess Shinoda had to start over after Chester's death and it was nice to dedicate this song as a tribute. I just wish it was better, though.
63. Best Friend---The song screams fun from start to finish and even though I'll agree that it is about as alternative as Carrot Top wearing a Cold War Kids T-shirt, it's groovy as hell. Everything has a reason, a purpose for existing.
62. One Foot---Considering where Kamikaze ended up, I'm surprised we're just finally reaching this one. As jarring as the more electronic feel of this and Kamikaze are, at least they're listenable tunes. It could be like going from The Walker to Handclap.
61. When the Curtain Falls---Another top 10 falls (BF was the first). LOL. This isn't screaming. If you want screaming, just check out the active round or listen to Blood/Water again. I don't care whether they're doing Led Zeppelin or their own thing, this song feels great.
60. Can We Hang On?---Better question is can we get back to more songs like First?
59. Dream---Nice first time find. Will agree with Doc that it's nice to see a different side to Bishop.
58. Giver---To be honest, I'd take Favorite Color is Blue or Blood in the Cut over this. Not sure if I'd go with High Enough ahead of this though.
57. Saturday Sun---This has just a nice, chill groove that reminds you of lazy weekends. where you have nothing to do other than enjoy things.
56. Africa---I brought this up when we did a retro rock rankdown and I'll sum up here: I much preferred Zombie because it gave the song a different spin and they made it their own thing. Africa, in contrast, just sounds like Rivers Cuomo on Karaoke night with some bad synths. Spoiler to others thinking of covering this: the song needs to be belted, not just lightly covered.
Extra: Song About You---I think it's telling that you just see Posner sitting there doing nothing in the video because it feels like little effort got put into either the song or the video. I think he needs to get Tarantino on the phone as he needs another comeback.
