7rings really pulling spins from TUN and breathin. Breathin really collapsing. Breathin was going to collapse anyways since it's a pop song that peaked on pop radio a few weeks ago

I’m assuming everyone is aware that 7 rings has payola? I’m also sure that billboard is aware of that. Isn’t it an illegal practice? Shouldn’t Billboard take action on this? Payola? Is this stan twitter? Payola is the very illegal practice of paying radio stations to play a song. A radio deal =/= payola. Radio stations pay attention to the songs people want to hear (for the most part), so it’s not really surprising that they’re playing the song that’s been #1 on Spotify, Apple Music, and iTunes for the past four days. Really? It's illegal? It shouldn't be.

Ariana Grande's fifth studio album, "thank u, next" will be released on February 8, 2019. It already has major hype by not only her fanbase but also the GP. If it gets promoted hard enough by Spotify and Apple Music, it has the potential to outsell Drake's album, Scorpion, which broke Spotify and AM records. The current number for most songs in the top 10 in a single week is Drake with 7. I see Ariana coming close, maybe 4 in one week. I feel like NASA, needy and break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored all the potential to get in the top 10 as well as obviously 7 rings and TUN which will probably be #1 and #2 on the week of the release. 1. 7 rings 2. thank u, next 3. Sunflower 4. Wow. 5. NASA 6. Without Me 7. needy 8. break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored 9. New Cardi B 10. Girls Like You Can you predict when you will leave this forum? Thanks :)

Organized predictions are fun but it’s also pointless and only a few are interested in them as they’re often done here, which is in list form without any discussion. It’s about as interesting as predicting next week’s lotto numbers.

Payola would completely lock out indie artists, since they can't afford to pay. Unless they're an actor (or another occupation where they made tons of wealth), of course. Congrats, now you have YouTube stars like Jake Paul and The Dobre Brothers, comedians like Adam Sandler, actors like Drake Bell, Zooey Deschanel's 'She + Him', Robert Pattinson, Will Smith, Justin Timberlake, and socialites like Kim Kardashian and Trisha Paytas all buying their way onto the radio. Or heck, Soulja Boy, Chamillionaire, Carly Rae Jepsen, and tons of other artists who only got a few hits can now have a ton more just because they have a large wallet. The US Congress was actually the one who investigated it, if I remember correctly.

7 rings has a 3:1 lead over the other. "7R" has held up really well. Has it held up even better than "TUN" did its first week? "7R" had over 3.6 million streams on U.S. Spotify yesterday. That's only in the US, WW 7 Rings is way more successful.

Ed Sheeran's 'Shape Of You' Certified Diamond By RIAA
News
By Rania Aniftos | January 23, 2019 8:35 PM EST
Ed Sheeran's 2017 smash hit "Shape Of You" has officially reached Diamond status. For a song to be certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), it must reach sales (and streaming equivalent sales) of 10 million units.
The milestone marks the second time the pop star attained Diamond certification, with "Thinking Out Loud" reaching 10 million units in 2017. As a result, Sheeran is only the fourth artist to score multiple Diamond certified songs since the RIAA first implemented the Diamond certification 20 years ago.
Sheeran took to Instagram on Thursday morning (Jan. 24) to share the news, writing, "My song Shape Of You is now diamond in the US! Thanks to everyone who’s downloaded or streamed it x."
"Shape Of You" broke the record for the most time spent in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. The song's 12 weeks at No. 1 continued into 33 weeks in the top 10.
Fresh off the Diamond certification, the pop star announced the launch of his new acoustic guitar collection, Sheeran by Lowden, ahead of the annual National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Conference. Additionally, he is continuing his worldwide stadium tour later this month.

It’s incredible how Rihanna is the 1st/2nd most certified artist in U.S history and yet her team has failed to update the certifications of her biggest songs. LMAO.
1) Love The Way You Lie = Eligible for 13X Platinum.
2) We Found Love = Eligible for 11X Platinum.
3) Stay = Eligible for 9X Platinum.
Hopefully when her next era begins...

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/8494802/ariana-grande-7-rings-headed-for-hot-100-debut-projectionAriana Grande's '7 Rings' Vying For No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 Debut1/24/2019 by Gary Trust The song could launch as her second Hot 100 leader.Ariana Grande is challenging for a No. 1 launch on next week's Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Feb. 2), as her new single "7 Rings" could blast in at the summit, following its Jan. 18 release. In projecting partial-week data, "7 Rings," released on Republic Records, could launch with over 70 million U.S. streams, 20 million in airplay audience and 80,000 downloads sold, placing it in line to arrive as the most-streamed and most-sold song of the week. The Hot 100 blends weekly streaming, airplay and sales data, according to Nielsen Music. "7 Rings," which channels the melody of The Sound of Music's "My Favorite Things," and its official video, arrived at the start of the Jan. 18-24 streaming and tracking week feeding next week's Hot 100 (with airplay measured Jan. 21-27). As airplay for this week's charts (dated Jan. 26) was tracked Jan. 14-20, the single debuted at No. 30 on the latest Pop Songs airplay chart and drew 16 million in all-format airplay audience in its first three days of release. "7 Rings" is the radio follow-up to Grande's first Hot 100 No. 1 "Thank U, Next," which debuted atop the Nov. 17, 2018-dated chart and spent seven total weeks at the summit. Both songs are from Grande's forthcoming album, Thank U, Next, the follow-up to Sweetener, which arrived as her third Billboard 200 No. 1 in September. If "7 Rings" debuts at No. 1 on the Hot 100, it would mark just the 33rd single (of 1,082 No. 1s all-time) to open on top. Plus, Grande would become just the fifth artist with multiple No. 1 entrances, joining Mariah Carey, the leader with three, Justin Bieber, Drake and Britney Spears (two each). Grande should face her greatest challenges for the Hot 100's top spot next week from reigning No. 1 "Without Me" by Halsey and former leader and current runner-up "Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse)" by Post Malone and Swae Lee. Highlights of next week's Hot 100 are scheduled to post on Billboard.com Monday (Jan. 28), with all charts posting the following day (Jan. 29).

God's Plan first week on Spotify (US) 26,345,375 Also... 68M on-demand streams (in six days - so probably 75M-80M in its first full seven days). Adele and Kendrick are the only artists that have a chance to break that record this year, imo.
