I think we can say there is a blend of genres out there
Many of those songs get played on multiple formats

Can the OP/thread starter start putting the official Billboard articles in the first post so people don't have to search pages to find them? Pretty sure this was once a thing before everyone and they mamma wanted to start the threads every week. I digress..

Congrats to Ariana. That is an amazing feat.

I can't recall that being a thing, but sure, I can do that along with putting the point where Gary's Biz transcriptions start since I imagine people want to jump to those.

Pop and other genres will become more competitive, but this notion that we're about to enter new golden pop era where songs like ''Sweet But Psycho'' will rule the chart for 10 weeks is definitely wishful thinking.
Let's not pretend the likes of Ariana and Halsey are not borrowing heavily from trap to be able to compete.

Needy higher than NASA? I didn't expect that The songs largely effect their order in the album. Needy was sooner than nasa. Imagine was already available otherwise I would’ve expected that to be the highest non single. Ghostin Likley picked up extra streams Bc of the topic matter

There’s nothing trap abt TUN. Ariana has more than TUN charting. TUN the album is full of trap influences, including the two climbing singles 7 rings and BUWYGIB.

The album as a whole is very pop though, kinda like Reputation but from different angle (r&b opposed to Jack Antonoff -flavoured poprock).

If it were a straight up trap album, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. The whole point of the OP was that the top players in pop are releasing tracks that are heavily influenced by hip-hop, and Ariana's most recent hits as well as Halsey's and Post Malone's all fit into that category. The idea that Ava Max is about to usher in a 2009 style pop craze is just wishful thinking when the biggest pop hits still lean urban.

"The Joke" by Brandi Carlile debuts at #4 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100. I was so happy about Ariana's album bomb, but because of it this song couldn't chart. How sad is that?

Ariana Grande's Entire 'Thank U, Next' Album Lands in Top Half of Streaming Songs Chart
2/19/2019 by Kevin Rutherford
Led by “7 Rings,” each of the songs from the 12-track album make the top 24.
Ariana Grande didn’t just launch the entirety of her new album Thank U, Next onto Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart dated Feb. 23; each of the songs are in the ranking’s top half.
Led by pre-album-release single “7 Rings,” the 12-song Thank U, Next storms Streaming Songs, snagging the chart’s top three spots, five of the top 10 and securing its entire track list within the top 24 of the 50-position chart.
It’s the first time the entirety of a Grande album makes Streaming Songs. Previous album Sweetener saw seven of its 15 songs on the list, paced by the No. 5 debut and peak of lead single “No Tears Left to Cry” (May 8, 2018).
But Grande’s star has risen since Sweetener, coupled with the new LP’s early-in-the-year release, when fewer full-lengths are being put into the market just yet. Plus, as previously reported, the album has the biggest streaming week for a pop album in history, with 228,000 of its 360,000 total units coming via streams, translating to 307 million on-demand audio streams in its debut week, according to Nielsen Music.
The Feb. 23-dated Streaming Songs chart marks the first instance in which Grande earns each of the top three spots on the list, as well as her first time with the top two. She’s also the maiden woman and pop artist to accomplish the feat; previously, Drake earned the top three on the July 14, 2018-dated tally, while Lil Wayne followed on the Oct. 13, 2018, list. (Wayne, in all, held the top five and six of the top 10 on that tally, while Drake scored the top eight and nine of the top 10).
Grande having five songs in the chart’s top 10 also makes her the only pop artist to do so in the chart’s history and the second woman, following Cardi B on the Jan. 20 and Jan. 27, 2018, tallies.
The full rundown:
No. 1, “7 Rings” (63.5 million streams) No. 2, “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” (59.2 million) No. 3, “Thank U, Next” (36.8 million) No. 8, “Needy” (28.6 million) No. 9, “NASA” (27.5 million) No. 15, “Bloodline” (24 million) No. 16, “Fake Smile” (22.6 million) No. 17, “Bad Idea” (22.6 million) No. 18, “Ghostin” (22.3 million) No. 19, “Imagine” (21.6 million) No. 22, “In My Head” (19 million) No. 24, “Make Up” (17 million)
When factoring in on-demand audio streams only for the On-Demand Streaming Songs chart dated Feb. 23, Grande holds the top six spots and nine of the top 10. Only Drake (10, July 14, 2018), Post Malone (nine, May 12, 2018) and Kendrick Lamar (nine, May 6, 2017) have previously accomplished the latter feat.
Her streaming start helps Grande to break the record for the most simultaneously top 40 Billboard Hot 100 appearances by a woman.

Love Lies goes recurrent this week, meaning unless something random gives it a huge boost, it's not getting 52 weeks.
Miss Me More is up to #91.
You Say and This Feeling do not hit new peaks this week.

I'm not trying to be mean but maybe you shouldn't bother then. Someone else will give us the new releases and their new chart position. Why bother yourself?? Passively aggressively saying what you like and don't like by only posting what you like etc is kind of foolish no?? I'm sorry if it came out harshly but stuff like this has been happening on the board a lot lately... Sorry

I've listed full reviews of each song one time, and literally no one cared (and people actually liked the post if I remember correctly). So it's clear it's not a big deal. I'm not sure what's wrong with giving opinions on certain songs since other people usually do so anyway. When they say they're happy a song debuted high, or something.

"breathin'" has gone recurrent. Ariana Grande is literally cannibalizing her own singles. And shame, because that song is better than almost all of her songs that debuted this week.

Yeah, as often happens, it comes with an artist's least interesting material. It’s funny that everyone was crying about the charts being so male dominated last year but as soon as a woman starts topping charts and breaking records, y’all have to downplay her success and/or artistry. Disappointed but not surprised. Wanting women to do well on the charts doesn't mean we have to like every song released by a woman. I like a lot of Grande's material, but more so from her second and third albums. I wish her current success had been for those releases. That is an entirely separate point from being happy that the charts are more diverse right now than they were a year or two ago. Yeah, as often happens, it comes with an artist's least interesting material. I’d say she’s never been as interesting as this era. Good that it paid off. As a "personality" sure, I just think her last 2 albums are more basic and samey as compared to the albums before them.

"Don't you like seeing Asians on the charts!". Like sure, but I'd rather it be someone I like. I don't have to like or want to support someone just because they happen to fall into a group I want to see succeed. Just because I want to see more women on country radio doesn't mean I need to be happy Bebe Rexha and Julia Michaels were doing well there. Kane Brown being "diverse"... I still think he sucks. More diversity is good, but that doesn't mean we have to suck an artist's dick anytime they bring more diversity.

Oh my god please me made #13 on bubbling under off of *radio*. We’re all gonna die next week aren’t we. It's not going to be any higher than #8 in my opinion, unless they release a mv mid-week. It's down to #4 on apple, which is Cardi's stronghold ("Money" was #1 there for longer and only managed #13). If it didn't have radio deals, it would more or less be around #15-20.
