New Rules had not much competition on radio though to be fair. Look at all of the other songs recently with that many weeks at #1.

Iβm not sure why people cling onto the BNA curse conspiracy theory. Itβs never been true. First of all, itβs not intended to be a predictor for future success. As with any other musical act, future success is a crapshoot. Winning a BNA Grammy doesnβt change that. And the stats show just as many successful and/or legendary winner as those whoβve fizzled out.

All of this, and Iβll also stress the point that itβs rare for ANY artist to have sustained success. Plenty of artists have only one hot single/album, and a fair number have 2-3 solid areas before they fade out. And really, most artists never find true mainstream success in the first place. To act like every Best New Artist winner (or even 70%) should have some huge career is just not realistic. I also not seeing where Dua Lipa has smashed any kind of curse or beaten the odds or whatever.

We'll see how the remainder of her new era turns out but I think the curse may have been lifted! skskssk Y'all just read what you want to read huh let me rephrase: I think [Dua's current single is not showing signs of a fading career]. We'll see how the remainder of her new era turns out but I think the curse may have been lifted! skskssk [this last bit indicates that I am, in fact, joking and not serious in saying the curse is lifted. it is a reference to the VSCO girl meme, a keyboard laugh is more satirical than anything else.]

Havenβt heard Dua on the radio since New Rules Yes New Rules was the #1 song on the radio with a record number of weeks in the top ten. Hard to top. Adele has yet to top Rolling in the Deep or Someone Like You. So what? Not to go down this rabbit hole but the person you quoted said they havenβt heard Dua on the radio at all, which has zero to do with the analogy you pulled out. But of course itβs all a moot point anyway. Sheβs still early in her career and is still getting established as a recognizable pop figure.

They said they haven't heard Dua on the radio since New Rules. That song was a monster on pop radio & it is going to be hard to beat. If that person tuned into the radio one day every month, chances are, they caught New Rules multiple times. Her newer songs, while smaller hits, did objectively get played; if you didn't hear them, that's literally not my problem. My point was that it is unfair to expect every one of her songs to do New Rules numbers, much like we can't expect Adele to beat Rolling in the Deep with every release. This especially applies if you do not listen to pop radio enough to hear Dua's other songs get played lol.

Lady Gaga with just 3 nominations this year is a disappointment. The ASIB crew deserved at least 5. ...see βShallowβ last year. 2 years worth of noms off of one album is huge. (Also, we are still operating off the assumption that those numbers are valid.)

RE: BNA, agreed entirely w/ Corin. Itβs not a curse (and I guess I shouldnβt have talked about it being a myth in one of my earlier posts); itβs just an award that grants an artist the opportunity to add an extra sticker to the album/record packaging on their next release, which could either be a hot seller or a royal flop. Itβs all dependent on the work put in and the quality of the music. 2000s BNA winners include Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, John Legend, Carrie Underwood, and Adele. Letβs not act like the award is a kiss of death.

3 nods for the relic that is ASIB would be great. Remember that Shallow, the best thing on the project, already got noms last year.
I hope these aren't true tbh. Lil Nas X and BeyoncΓ© would be overrewarded if those numbers are real imo.

I decided (lol) that these are fake after all. Or incomplete rather. One nomination for the Jonas Brothers? Just two for Post Malone? One for Tyler? Yeah, I call bs. Let's hope the official list is better.

Lizzo, Billie, LNX, and Lewis Capaldi shouldn't actually have artist pages on the Grammy site yet, so the fact that they did lends some credence to the spoilers. Also notable: I missed the leak when it happened and now the links to their pages now lead to 403/access denied errors, whereas replacing their name with my (obviously not nominated for anything) own name in the url leads to a 404/page cannot be found error. This means that the 403 pages were not removed, simply hidden.
I don't recall last year's similar 'leak,' but that is too many new artists with 'hidden' pages to discount. The only question now is whether the numbers were also accurate or if they were just test filler. I'm leaning toward accurate, tbh.
Lizzo getting 8 nods is the one throwing me off, though. Cuz I Love You was put in urban contemporary album and Truth Hurts went to pop solo. With the four general field categories that would be 6. I don't think we ever got wind of where Juice went, but I guess she was able to put it in rap/sung and rap song? But I would never have predicted she could pull any rap nominations, certainly not rap song.
Other than Lizzo, the numbers make sense to me. Billie in the general field + pop album and pop solo is predictable. Similarly, no one would be surprised to see Ariana in those same categories, minus BNA. Six nods for LNX also isn't too big a stretch or really even 'over'nominated. Assuming it's ROTY, SOTY, BNA, pop album, pop duo/group, and rap/sung, pop album is the only one that I feel is a bit of a surprise, but a bunch of love for OTR and a dot of recognition for Panini isn't OTT at all. I suppose Lewis Capaldi got a token BNA nod; pop solo seems too crowded to make room for him there.
Beyonce stays racking up nominations, so whatevs. I suspect none of those supposed 5 are in the general field though. I forget what all of her submissions were but IIRC she submitted something to r&b perf and song. Those two + urban contemporary album and the two visual media categories make sense for her.

Error 403 means you do not have the authorization to access the page, but it's still there.

Error 403 means you do not have the authorization to access the page, but it's still there. Right. When you arrive at the 403 page it says 'Access denied - try logging in?' I tested my own name just to be sure that a different result came up (hence the 404)

Regarding Gaga, if 2/3 are for the album (AOTY, Visual Media), then it's brilliant. It's also brilliant if the remaining one is for ARUTW (Record of the Year, Song of the Year or Best Pop Solo Performance).
Worst case scenario would be noms for Visual Media, Best Song Written for Visual Media, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance...
I'd say the Album for Visual Media is on lock anyway.

I read that Bradley only has one which means it's EITHER Soundtrack OR AOTY. Not both. And obviously Soundtrack is a lock. So AOTY is 99% not happening.

If those leaked numbers are true, I can already tell that I'm not going to like some of the nominations tomorrow. That'd be amazing for Lizzo and Billie though.

Anyway I don't see how it's possible for a major award show to fack up like this.

Anyway I don't see how it's possible for a major award show to fack up like this. I can. I don't know this for sure, but chances are the Recording Academy contracts out their web development work, and that company is probably working frantically this week to get everything ready for nominations (and the increase in infrastructure and traffic that will come with it), and someone probably made a mistake by preparing content in the wrong environment or publishing a revision not meant to be made public until tomorrow or something. (The GRAMMYs site is built in the content management system Drupal, which is what I use for 90% of my day job as a web developer β for those of you on my site Crownnote, that's a Drupal site too β so I can see a few technical ways this might have happened.) My employer put in a proposal this year to do the Golden Globes website...and the possibility of this kind of issue horrified me so much that I wasn't too dismayed when we didn't win it, haha.

If the updates to the Grammy website error is true then that means Reba will receive two nominations this year. Definitely was not expecting that but am happy with it.

There is only one template and the information changes according to the route accessed by searching the database information.

I figured each page is created individually so someone would have to make that error each time? Am I right? Likely, the person(s) working on the site were several pages in, or even close to finished, before realizing their error. As dann pointed out, they'd be working off a template so it would be easy to get caught up in duplicating that template for each search result and entering minimal changes for each 'new' or revised page. I don't get why they didn't just take the site offline for a few late night/early morning hours. I know uptime is extremely important but this is one situation where it's a completely understandable reason to be down. I'm not a developer but I'm self-studying right now and I've tinkered around with code in the past. IMO this was an easily avoidable situation. Of course if none of those numbers turn out to be accurate it's nbd.
