Good morning to everyone who voted for Lana and Lizzo for AOTY and not Taylor or Gaga, and no one else.

That's patently false. They are still the most watched awards show, artists still want nominations/wins and feel gratitude for them, they still help sales, and the media still gives them a lot of coverage. Those are just facts. And they still have zero credibility and zero prestige, especially when compared to top acting awards. If the Oscars were like the Grammys, someone like Megan Fox would win Best Actress and Twilight would win Best Picture.

Lil Nas X’s AOTY nom really, truly is the most perplexing one of the whole bunch, in my opinion. Also, savvy of Lizzo’s team to emphasize Cuz I Love You (Deluxe), as the deluxe version includes “Truth Hurts” as an extra track.
This year, as expected, will be a lot of Lizzo vs. Billie. I still think Ariana’s in a prime position to take Album.

If the GRAMMYs had zero prestige, you wouldn’t care so much to be going off. They carry a ton of weight, even though the committees don’t always get things right.

As Pulse Music Board's™️ resident Ariana Grande megafan (I refuse to use the word stan), I have to say that Lana Del Rey absolutely deserves AOTY over everyone else. NFR is a masterpiece and it's about time she gets an award!! Billie would not be here without Lana and that's on that. But obviously if Lana doesn't get it Ari should!

I'm not saying they're perfect, just that they look really great in comparison to the Grammys. You have many instances when none of the top 10 grossing films of the year get nominated nominated for Best Picture. Their track record of recognizing creativity, artistry and talent is light years ahead of the Grammys. I wish the music industry had some serious award shows, but they just don't.

I am surprised that Caution didn't catch a R&B nom. Was the album huge? No. But it was critically acclaimed and ended up being a career victory lap for her. This was basically the album era where every publication, every interviewer, every critic, every article talked about her staggering legacy and acknowledged her genius and talent. Moreso than they ever have in the past. I thought she had it in the bag.
Robyn not getting a nomination in Dance/Electronic Album is downright revolting. That album towers over everything in that category (hell, over almost everything in AOTY as well).
Lil Nas X getting a AOTY nom... WHAT!? That EP is a mess. And the "7 Rings" noms. HOWLING. What a sh*tty song.
Happy for H.E.R. Happy for Ella. Happy for Lizzo (although some of those noms are ridiculous). Happy for Beyoncé, she better snatch that Homecoming award. So glad to see Tove get something, even if it is just video. Awwww at Brandy sneaking in there. Bon Iver and VW are well deserved.
And Lana's major category nominations are SUBLIME. It's about time. Although the lack of genre nom scares me. Nobody deserves the award more than her in AOTY and anything else would be a joke IMO.

Right. This has been a curious trend of sorts. Lorde and Janelle Monae are of course other recent examples.

AOTY category is cleary rigged to favor Lizzo and doom LDR . So, you don't see H.E.R. being competition for the R&B votes? That's patently false. They are still the most watched awards show, artists still want nominations/wins and feel gratitude for them, they still help sales, and the media still gives them a lot of coverage. Those are just facts. And they still have zero credibility and zero prestige, especially when compared to top acting awards. If the Oscars were like the Grammys, someone like Megan Fox would win Best Actress and Twilight would win Best Picture. Now you're starting to qualify it...

Just realized that The Cranberries got their first ever Grammy nomination!
It's a shame that it took Dolores O’Riordan's death for the Grammys to finally recognize them with a nom

Not H.E.R being a filler nom when she was nominated in the same catagory last year🙃

I'm underwhelmed by these nominations. (Lil Nax X being with 6 including AOTY for his EP? Beyonce with 5? Lizzo, although great, with 8??)
Also, are these some of the most commercially successful nominations in recent years?

BEST NEW ARTIST • Billie Eilish • ROSALÍA • Lizzo • Maggie Rogers • Lauv • Lil Nas X • Lewis Capaldi • Juice WRLD NOTE: I just changed Yola to Juice WRLD. Realizing he wasn’t nominated for anything last year totally means he could get a nom this year. Hoping I’ll see Yola tho 😭god damn it

Did you even READ what you are quoting?! I see a lot of people saying Maren will be the Kacey of this year, but I just can't see it. Kacey got universal acclaim, whereas Maren was far more mixed. I really only see Maren getting the four-country categories, but only leaving away with maybe one of them as a win. I don't think Maren is this year's Kacey but I feel like the competition isn't stiff enough that she couldn't sneak in as the country representative into some of the main categories. I'd be surprised to see her in for Album but I could see her maybe get a Song or Record nom maybe. This was the ONLY person that has categorized Maren as the new Kacey. With that, two of the other posts that you quoted from the same person predated the album even being released. Most people shared YOUR same sentiment that Maren wasn't as critically acclaimed as her. So relish in that instead of LOL'ing this know-it-all mentality you're currently trying to flex and failing at that. I could see Maren Morris taking the Kacey Musgraves spot for AOTY category and hopefully Taylor's new album sneaks in there.

The Shammys are really trying to reward Lizzo's basicness with EIGHT FUCKING NOMINATIONS, huh? Even Best Traditional R&B?! HOW, SWAY?! I will give it to Truth Hurts because Chicken Soup For The Becky Soul is in this year, so as much as I despite that song with a passion, I get it. It's really popular, as is one of the people behind it. Anyway, after winning BNA, I hope she goes the way of Paula Cole. Will join Team Mariah Got Snubbed because...well, she did. Speaking objectively for a second, there was no R&B album better. Again...giving Lizzo ANY R&B noms from that album when you have With You, Giving Me Life, 8th Grade, etc. etc. is just ridiculous and really shows that the Grammys are about pumping either an It Artist or some random above all common sense.
Happy for: Lana, Vampire Weekend, James Blake, Rosalia, Maggie, Tove, and fka twigs. Also, Sunflower for Song of the Year. I am probably most upset that Maggie will lose to Lizzo for BNA but...see my comment above. Also, rooting for Lover for Best Pop Vocal Album, as it's EASILY the best album in that category. For once, it's not even a question that Taylor deserves. I was hoping she snuck in to AOTY too but I think the Grammy is just trying to avoid giving her that title three times, so I get it. Oh...and yeah...WTF is up with Lil Nas X getting nom for ANYTHING other than BNA and Record Of The Year.
Anyway, I really hope the Shammys aren't setting the tone for the rest of 2020.

AOTY category is cleary rigged to favor Lizzo and doom LDR . That's why Tyler, the Creator is not there but both Bon Iver and Vampire Weekend are. Eh, even if you buy into a conspiracy scenario, I really don't see this as Lana Del Rey-centric. The "narrative" artists are Lizzo, Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande. The former two had the breakthrough years, while Ariana arguably cemented her icon status after years of being right on the cusp. So - if there's someone who they wanted to "screw" by nominating the other alternative acts (including Lana) - it's Billie Eilish.

I didn't even write some "here." You asked who, so I gave some links. It ain't that deep.

She's known for a mainstream hit, and she's nominated in Pop Solo and Pop Album.

Brave prediction but I think LNX's career might be doomed after this. I haven't seen anyone saying 7 belongs to the AOTY list and it can't do a favor for him in the public eye.
