"Shallow" is officially #1 and #10 on iTunes, and "Always Remember Us This Way" is #2 and #79, "I'll Never Love Again" is #4 and #11. Gaga's "Million Reasons" just entered at #84. I'm mad no one's buying "Why Did You Do That?", the superior ASIB track 😂😂 Sis!

I'm thinking Gaga is gonna grab that #1.
Can someone estimate what kind of numbers it would need in streaming and sales to manage that? It looks like it has about 30m audience on radio so I imagine we can count on that holding steadyish.

Shallow will get a new peak. I think it will be #2 or #3.

There’s 4 videos of the performance: 2 have 2 millon views and the others have 1.3+ million views. I think top 3 is pretty much in the bag

Potentially. I know Dope by Gaga got into the top 10 because of views from a performance video, so there is a precedent. I just don’t know if that’s a rule that they always count or one of those case by case basis things.

Someone should tweet BB to ask about whether the show videos count.

If the video is under music category, then yes, it counts.

Wasn't the controversy with "Dope" the fact that its views were being counted from a live stream on YouTube?

Do y'all see middle child launching back to the top 10 off of the video? I do. Video currently has 490k in 4 hours which equates to 3m in one day or ~20m views in a week. That's all you need for a top 10 rebound

brb, let me be pissed in the corner thinking about how radio dropped the ball with one of the most popular tracks of the year.
Loved the "Shallow" performance. If it gets a new peak, that would be amazing. I've heard it more on radio, mentioned in conversations, etc... than most #1 hits tbh.

So Shallow is pretty much Gaga's comeback single? It's had more longevity than any of her songs since Applause.

i wish that pop radio didn't ditch this so fast or else i'm pretty sure shallow would be a guaranteed #1. but its sales are very promising right now so i'm not giving up hope.

I'm fully expecting Gaga to be #1 on the Hot 100. Her lead on iTunes is huge and keeps increasing - not to mention there's a second version of Shallow in the top 10. There are multiple videos of the performance gathering a lot of views and the official music video's views are increasing rapidly as well. Not to mention its baseline in airplay/streaming isn't 0. It has ~30m AI which is increasing and it's #28 on spotify as well. *_*

Wasn't the controversy with "Dope" the fact that its views were being counted from a live stream on YouTube? The controversy with Dope was that it was being played in full as an advert (the ones that autoplay before a video starts on Youtube). I wouldn't have any problems with live performances counting for the Hot 100. After all, there are live versions of lots of songs available to download on iTunes and those have always counted. When Someone Like You by Adele went to #1 in the UK (as an album track just a few weeks after the album was released), most of its sales were coming from a live performance.

Would love to be proven wrong though.

Imagine Shallow hitting number one 10 years after Just Dance. It would be the cherry on top of a well deserved comeback.

Oscar Song Nominees Surge 139% In Sales, Led by Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper's 'Shallow' News By Keith Caulfield | February 25, 2019 8:53 PM EST
Plus: Sales of Queen’s songs rose 29 percent following show-opening performance. Sunday’s Academy Awards spurred sizable sales gains for the five tracks nominated for best original song, according to initial sales reports to Nielsen Music. Combined, the quintet of tunes sold a combined 23,000 downloads in the U.S. on the day of the show (Feb. 24), up 139 percent compared to the 10,000 in sales registered a day earlier (Feb. 23).
The leader of the pack was the winner for original song, “Shallow,” from A Star Is Born. The song sold nearly 21,000 downloads on Sunday (up 121 percent), more than the sales of the other four nominees combined.
On the Oscars, four of the nominees were performed onstage: “Shallow,” “I’ll Fight” (from RBG), “The Place Where Lost Things Go” (from Mary Poppins Returns) and “When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings” (from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs). “Shallow” was staged in a warmly received performance, by its original performers Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. (Gaga took home her first Oscar for “Shallow,” as one of its four co-writers.)
Of the five nominees, only “All the Stars,” from Black Panther, was not performed on the Oscars, though it was acknowledged during the introduction and presentation of the original song category.
Oscar show-openers Queen, with Adam Lambert, saw a robust boost in sales as well, following the band’s performance of “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions.” Sales of Queen’s catalog of songs grew by 29 percent on Sunday (rising to 27,000; up from 21,000). Further, the two tracks the band performed jumped 49 percent in sales, as “Rock” and “Champions” sold a combined 4,000 on Sunday (up from 3,000 a day earlier).

Seeing all this talk about Shallow possibly hitting a new peak has me really excited! I'm really hoping the sales hold up as well as they have been so far.
