If Billboard wants to regain some lost credibility, they should start taking steps to take the huge power away from the corrupt radio in the Hot 100 formula. It doesn't make any sense in this day and age!

I'm not 100% sure 7 rings will give up that #1 on Streaming Songs yet, as it leads Spotify while Murder is at #7, and YouTube is pretty close. Apple Music is also close, while Murder leads, but over on Amazon 7 rings is doing more. It will be close. But yes, I get your point. After three days of Spotify data and two days of YouTube, I have MOMM at 40.3M streams (22.7k streaming points) and 7 rings at 40.2M streams (21.0k). Middle Child and maybe Shallow (if it pulls a Happier) also have a chance to be the streaming #1 this week. Sales #1 is not even a guarantee to reach the Hot 100. Fake Love and Without Me were #1 with 29k and that's less than 5k Hot 100 points. |

See You Again Assuming by showtune you mean #1 from a movie. No "showtune" is a term that means a song from a musical. Trolls, Despicable Me 2, and Furious 7 are not musicals. Honestly "showtune" usually is reserved for theater musicals, not film musicals. Even at that A Star is Born is pretty loosely a film musical anyway. I think many people in the theater and film industries wouldn't consider "Shallow" a showtune, but would probably say it's close to being one. The last showtune to be a hit would probably be "This Is Me" from The Greatest Showman, and before that you'd probably have to back quite a bit. A lot of popular showtunes likely never charted on the Hot 100 given how the rules of the Hot 100 would have kept them off the charts for a long time. |

Wanna know some interesting trivia, Barbra Streisand's song Evergreen from the 1976 A Star Is Born film won the Oscar in 1977 for Best Original Song, it also went to #1 that same week. It spent three weeks at the top during the weeks of March 5, 12, and 19th. If Gaga gets #1 next week, her song from 2018's A Star Is Born would have won the Oscar and went #1 in the exact same week 42 years later from Evergreen.
