"If I Had Only Known" is one of those rare songs that managed to snag a rank at every possible position between 1 and 10! It was pretty clear from the beginning that this song was going to be a top 5 contender, and it was honestly in the top 5 with a significant lead on the #6 song. It was able to withstand several low ranks, but the #9 and #10 ranks literally ALL came in the last 3-4 submissions, and was enough to kill this one. Obviously, this is one of those songs has a lot of emotional impact for people. Tbh, when my mom passed away a couple years ago, we sat down together to listen to a bunch of music and make her funeral playlist a couple weeks before she died (talk about one of the hardest experiences of my life!!), and this one made us both break down together. Never has a song so perfectly and beautifully captured the feeling of shock and emptiness that comes from the loss of a loved one. It ended up being the first song on the playlist. I am legitimately disgusted by all the low ranks this song got. This is too personal of a song that means too much to too many people for that kind of s**t. Says the person who tanked my #1 Lorrie Morgan “Out of Your Shoes” out of the Top Ten, the song that turned me on to Lorrie’s music when it was released as a single

"Bobby" is a great story song, but I'm surprised that it ended up the highest album track on an album that includes "If I Had Only Known" (and "I Wouldn't Go That Far" ;)). I always forget that Reba co-wrote it.

“Bobby” was the song that I predicted would be the top album track as I had a hunch that “If I Had Only Known” would have its share of detractors. I enjoy this one enough that I put it just outside of my top five, though.

I'm not surprised that this is coming down to the singles as the top 4. These are four of the most iconic singles of her career, and they all happen to be on the same album. How did she not win Female Vocalist/Entertainer from the CMA during this period??

Lol I’m just throwing shade, but honestly I don’t see any comparison here in regards to the two songs.

How did she not win Female Vocalist/Entertainer from the CMA during this period?? I agree. Garth Brooks was of course the one who won Entertainer in 1991/1992 which is understandable and then Vince Gill the next two years. I just think the competition during that time was quite fierce and competitive, but I do think she was vastly overlooked at this point in her career as far as accolades are concerned.

The greatest words I never heard, I guess I'll never hear. The man I thought could never die has been dead almost a year. Oh, he was good at business, but there was business left to do. He never said he loved me. Guess he thought I knew.
4. "The Greatest Man I Never Knew"

How did she not win Female Vocalist/Entertainer from the CMA during this period?? During this time Kathy Mattea dominated the Female Vocalist wins from the CMA. Surprisingly, Reba never won CMA Female Vocalist during her biggest commercial success in the 90’s. She only won 1984-1987. Due to her large success in the 90’s she was able to snatch a few more ACM female vocalist nods after her 1985-1988 run but was unsuccessful doing so with the CMAs. Same goes with the CMA Entertainer she only got that in 1986. Not once in the 90’s.

I agree that it's really surprising that she never won when she was arguably her biggest, in the 90s. Tanya Tucker won in 1991 and Mary Chapin Carpenter in 1992, when the impact of For My Broken Heart would have been felt.

"The Greatest Man I Never Knew" was on pace to be the lowest single for practically the entire submission process, despite being placed in the top 5 by EVERYBODY (except fearlessarrow... ) So that shows how well-loved all these hits are! This song is famously about a woman who has a strained relationship with her father because he has trouble showing his love, only to realize how much happiness he sacrificed in an attempt to keep his family comfortable and happy after it was way too late to do anything about it. Definitely a fan favorite, and deserves all the accolades it has gotten through the years!

"The Greatest Man I Never Knew" is phenomenal. Easily one of my favourite songs, ever. Crazy that it only ended up my #3 on an album rankdown. I was hoping that it wouldn't be her lowest placing single, but I'm not surprised.

Oh I always love the live clips from the concert in Omaha, Nebraska, that get posted they bring back some great childhood memories Anyways, I think most of us predicted that the final four would come down to the singles we just weren’t in agreement on which order they would leave in. I thought “The Greatest Man I Never Knew” would make it into the top three, but either way all of these are winners in my eyes. I don’t often put this song on but it’s an incredibly moving and powerful one that really makes you reflect.

I don't think I've ever seen her live where she hasn't performed "Greatest Man" (and I've seen her 10-15 times). It is still a huge fan favourite to this day.

someguy the CMA was very stingy with Reba in the 90’s. She managed to win only 2 CMA awards in the whole decade. 1992 Video Of The Year “Is There Life Out There” & 1994 Vocal Event Of The Year “Does He Love You” also note both “Rumor Has It” and “For My Broken Heart” we’re nominated for Album Of The Year in 1991 and 1992.

Last night I prayed the Lord my soul to keep, Then I cried myself to sleep, So sure life wouldn't go on without you. But oh, the sun is blinding me As it wakes me from the dark. I guess the world didn't stop For my broken heart.

Wow...everyone put the title track in their top 6! That just goes to show you how well-beloved each one of these four singles have become and how they really defined this decade for Reba.

"And it takes all the strength I've got, to stumble to the coffee pot. The first of many lonely mornings I have to face" is one of my favourite lines in a song, ever. This is probably my third favourite Reba song. "For My Broken Heart" is such a great heartbreak song, and I love how positive it is in spite of it all.

"For My Broken Heart" was the perfect song to name this album after, because it perfectly embodies the overall tone of the album. I think this one would have had a good shot at #1 on most albums, but alas this one still has TWO songs that are better-loved than this one!! So here we are! The predictable top 2!! Will ITLOT take it once again, or is this "Georgia"'s chance to get revenge??? Is There Life Out There vs. The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia

I’m of course rooting for “Is There Life Out There” because it’s literally one of my favorite songs of all-time, but at this point “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia” has played second fiddle to it for so, so, so long that I feel like its time has finally come.

The movie she made based on the video is decent too, but the video is pretty much perfect ("I do NOT need any more accidents in my life"). My second favourite Reba song, but it is so iconic, and probably her biggest hit (though not chartwise).

The Georgia patrol was making their rounds, So he fired a shot just to flag 'em down. A big bellied sheriff grabbed his gun and said, "Why'd you do it?"
The judge said guilty on a make-believe trial, Slapped the sheriff on the back with a smile, And said, "Supper's waitin' at home and I gotta get to it."
That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia. That's the night that they hung an innocent man. Well, don't trust your soul to no backwoods Southern lawyer, 'Cause the judge in the town's got bloodstains on his hands.
2. "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia"
Track #6 Runtime: 4:17 Songwriters: Bobby Russell
Placement in the Singles Rankdown: #2 out of 100
Is there life out there? So much she hasn't done. Is there life beyond Her family and her home? She's done what she should. Should she do what she dares? She doesn't want to leave; She's just wonderin' Is there life out there?
1. "Is There Life Out There"
Track #2 Runtime: 3:53 Songwriters: Susan Longacre, Rick Giles

Some TIBIT of info about the song, “For My Broken Heart”
Did you know the song was originally recorded as a duet with Clint Black BEFORE the plane crash. And that version was scrapped after the crash due to the more personal and emotional impact of the song as a solo would have?

As it should be! Both are excellent songs, but "Is There Life Out There" is THAT song for Reba. I never tire of hearing it, all these years later.
