WOW! I am SUPER happy right now! "Because Of You" is great but I love Kelly's original way more than this one and the other two songs remaining are the highlights of this album (and my Top 2!). Now for "Sleeping With The Telephone" to be #1! (though I wouldn't be upset if it goes the other way) Wow, I'm stunned. Totally expected this song to run away with it. That said, I love the other 2 songs almost as much and I'll be happy with any of them winning. The top 3 here are all perfect songs. Rooting for "Telephone," but I'll be fine either way. Would it make you guys nervous if I told you that the top 2 is only separated by one point, and they both have the same amount of #1 ranks?

Whoo! So fucking happy!
I love "Because Of You" in both forms, but I never really loved it being turned into a duet. It's such a personal song I don't think having two vocalists (who absolutely do a wonderful job) improves it in anyway. In fact I think it takes away from it.
I'd love to hear the song they originally recorded for the album, I'd love for it to come out someday.

I agree that it doesn't really sound like a song that would work as a duet, especially lyrically, but I think the music video put an interesting perspective on it. You know, with all the insinuation that Reba is now scared of love because she's watching all the abuse that Kelly is going through, and it totally blew my mind when I realized that... Lol Like, this moment at the end of the video totally slays me. When Reba accusingly says "Because of you" at Kelly while she's watching her leave with her abusive lover... Lol I was not expecting that twist, but it totally made the song work for me!

But still a great song, there's been worse examples of songs that shouldn't be duets before. Just have to be nitpicking when the album is as strong as this one!

You followed your heart, you gave it your best, There's nothing more you can do. Guys like him are like the wind, And you know it's just too bad. They blow in and out again and never know what they had.
2. "When You Love Someone Like That" - ft. LeAnn Rimes
Track #1 Runtime: 4:41 Songwriters: Ed Hill, Karyn Rochelle
I lose him in my darkest dreams. And my blood runs cold and my heart skips a beat. So I get up, I can't take anymore. Sometimes I hate how much I love him, But everyday I love him more.
And I try not to think he won't come home, But I'm sleeping with the telephone.
Something awakes me from where he should be. I reach for him; the telephone rings...

Lmao sorry for taking so long with the final reveal. I was watching live videos, AND I REALIZED THAT IN THE LIVE PERFORMANCE OF "SLEEPING WITH THE TELEPHONE" WITH KELLY, REBA ACTUALLY TAKES ALL OF FAITH'S HIGH PARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was shocked out of all sense!!!!! What a queen!!!!!! Literally my only complaint about the studio version has always been that Faith takes all of the epic high parts. It's Reba's album, damn it, let her have some epic notes too!!!

I have an unresolved theory that When You Love Someone Like That is Does He Love You’s younger sister. I can’t hear one without hearing the other, it’s almost like Reba was using her “knowledge” from Does He Love You to advise a younger lady (LeAnn). Thanks for hosting bboat11

Perfect ranking for the final two!! Both are such great songs and should've been big hits!

Also, I was low-key at how you kept predicting this song was going to be some kind of universally-hated last-place contender Cody Wants Out... I just found "She Can't Save Him" to be clunky melodically and even after multiple listens it still didn't click with me. btw you're gonna pay for that comment...

What a tragedy of a rankdown. Because of You is the clear winner

Yes!! So excited that Sleeping With the Telephone won! I'm a huge Faith fan, so I may be a little biased, but I really think that's a fantastic song and easily the best on the album. When You Love Someone Like That is amazing as well and I'm happy to see if finish #2.
I was honestly underwhelmed by this version of Because of You. Kelly's version is just so good and I had a hard time getting into Reba and Kelly's version. As for The Only Promise That Remains, I sometimes think I might like it a little more if it were never a single. I remember hearing it on the radio several times back in the day and was honestly bored by it...I always thought it was a strange single choice. But then again, I realize due to different labels and all that it was probably difficult to release a lot of these songs as singles.

Fantastic top two. IMO they are the clear stand out on a stellar album. I had them ranked the other way around, But I’m still very happy with the outcome. In an ideal world, they would have been the first and second singles.

Keep On Loving You (2009)
Tracklist: (Runtime: 48:21) 1. Strange 2. Just When I Thought I'd Stopped Loving You 3. I Keep On Lovin' You 4. I Want A Cowboy 5. Consider Me Gone 6. But Why 7. Pink Guitar 8. She's Turning 50 Today 9. Eight Crazy Hours (In The Story Of Love) 10. Nothing To Lose 11. Over You 12. Maggie Creek Road 13. I'll Have What She's Having
Up next in our album series, we come to the incredible Keep On Loving You! This album was a bit of a comeback era for Reba. Despite the commercial success of the Duets era, it is remembered as a bit of a flop in terms of her radio career. Reba parted with MCA afterwards, and joined Valory Records. When the word came that Reba was ready to put out new music, the anticipation was huge!! Why is this album so important in an album series that we are calling "The Revival"? Well, this is the album on which you can find the biggest hit of Reba's entire career!!!!! That's right, this incredible woman, after 30+ years in the business, in her mid-50s, after leaving her long-time label and getting a brand new deal, put out the BIGGEST hit of her entire career. "Consider Me Gone" topped the Billboard Charts for 4 weeks, becoming a major staple in her already storied catalog. The other singles did alright too, with the debut single "Strange" becoming the highest debut of her entire career. Please join in for this incredible album!!! After how fascinating the last two rankdowns were I am even more excited to see how this one will turn out, because imo this is the best album we have done yet Tentative deadline is set for Saturday, June 1st. I know that's way more time than you need, but I have to get through Best of the Best, Revenge of the Best, and Martina's Extras rankdown first, all of which are a bit larger... They will pretty well fill up the month of May. If you would like to join, send me a PM with your ranking of the songs, #1 being your favorite and #13 being your least favorite.

Yep! You sent All The Women I Am and Love Somebody too Do I need to do the other now? Or wait til their own post ? Nope, you don't need to do any others yet. You are all good for the Keep On Loving You album, which is all that matters for now :) You are always welcome to start working ahead if you would like, but the next album will not officially be open until we finish this current one.

Keep On Lovin' You is stellar. It has the biggest hit of her career, as well as album tracks that should have been singles, and singles that had no business being anything but album tracks.

Got my list in! Keep on Loving You is such a stellar album. Really consistently strong aside from 1 song I just don't care for at all really (though revisiting it for this rankdown I must admit I didn't dislike it nearly as much as I remembered). Love how uptempo-heavy this record is, too. This is the album era that made me a Reba fan, because when I was just getting into country music around her Room to Breathe era, but I kinda 'missed' it (I was only 10 at the time so I didn't really experience much country music on my own aside from Sara Evans), and this was the first big era she had once I was an avid Internet user and regularly bought CDs of my own, lol.
