I thought of that but if Ariana hasn't spoken up for herself regarding her issues with Scooter. I doubt she is the type to speak up for someone else. She is very about "ariana's brand". If she was going to use her star power it would be for herself

Unlike that douche Justin Bieber atleast she is staying neutral in public.

What baffles me the most is that after all the proof and everyone against Scott and Scooter, there's literally no financial retaliation to them...

Most artists that sign with Scooter apparently have to pay him for several months if they leave him before their contract ends. Plus people like Demi and Bieber are fine with this.

As for Borchetta / BMG, it's way too early. Even if you want to leave the label you're probably several albums away from finishing your contract. Ask Kesha how hard it is to leave a label before that.

I so glad Taylor released the actual letter to legit publications because it’s proof that she’s not just ‘picking a fight’ or is ‘bitter’ about losing control of her masters (like nearly every other artist).

I was flying today and was watching CNBC and they had a big segment about her and this issue.

I really don’t get where S&S are coming from because Taylor’s catalog is one of BM’s most important asset - and one that can produce a ton of $$$. They haven’t even begun to mine it for GH’s, licensing tracks for ads, movies, TV, etc. Both sides have ever incentive to work together.

The last thing BM wants is for Taylor to re-record those masters. As I said yesterday, you can bet the quality will be on par with the originals - maybe even better for her earliest work. Heck she could just decide to do a 20-30 track GH package and really got the catalog, especially on streaming.

The most daunting part of this all, to me, remains the sheer reality that this exposes. If one of the biggest stars on the planet is still strenuously withheld by something like this so severely that it could legitimately jeopardize projects as huge as a Netflix deal or an AMA performance, imagine how tough it’s got to be for people who aren’t as big as her.

Well very few artists own their masters anyway. And 99% of the time the owner doesn't really care what the artist does with their songs as they'll make money along with the artist. It's just this is the very rare 1% where the two sides hate each other. BM would make plenty of money if they allowed Taylor to do whatever. They just prefer to be petty instead.

I'm definitely on Taylor's side on this one and think if what she stated is true, it is pathetic on Scotts and Scooters side. Everyone deserves the right to their music. But I think her asking other artists to jump in and comment on this situation puts that artist in a particular awkward position. Also her fans are crazy and regularly attack people over the littlest of things, her using them as a weapon isn't the best idea. I do however believe that the timing of this just seems so convenient. She just released a brand new song and a few days ago a remix to her current single. Hmm..

In the long run though I know I'd much rather see a medley of hits from this decade rather then a Lover Medley at the AMA's. So I hope something does come of this for her and for the sake non fans don't want to sit through a Lover medley.

It seems like the permission to use her songs for the Netflix documentary and to perform them at the Alibaba event were denied by a representative from BMR on October 28, but then Scott Borchetta denied permission for the AMA performance (and confirmed BMR won't give permission for the Netflix doc) yesterday.

Vulture interviewed an entertainment lawyer and according to them, having other artists cover her hits at the AMAs wouldn't require BMR's consent, so that's one option.

I suspect Kelly Clarkson and Halsey would be willing to support Taylor on that, and would satisfy the AMAs as being a good enough ratings draw (especially with all the attention this now has with the Taylor-BMR dispute). Some of the other artists that supported her could help too.

It looks like BMR might be standing down about blocking her AMA performance though, although I'm reluctant to believe anything coming out of TMZ so I'll wait for more official confirmation.

If other artists have to perform for her then so be it. I just want to hear her damn hits from the past decade. That's the point of being awarded AOTD.

I would hate to see Taylor have to sit while they perform tho. Likely heartbreaking for her which would break mine. Unless she decides to just do her new music after everyone else performs her hits. (Assuming that this is even gonna be a concept that happens.)

Put on a show with her powerful personality and quirky, but crafted movements? I... don't think so. Selena has bops and can work her low vocals on a studio recording while she's standing still well, but a top class performer she is not. And that's okay! We don't always need that from an artist and Selena typically knows what she has and does that well. But she would absolutely stick out like a sore thumb in that group when it comes to a performance.

I really feel for Taylor, this whole mess brings to light the less known darker sides of the music business and I am happy she is talking about it. However I feel it's unlikely anything will change in the music business, but if they end up having to allow Taylor to perform the old songs it's worthy IMO.

Ugh. That's all I can say to those mediocre white ass men. Taylor is nothing but a successful, empowered woman and they're afraid of that.

Yesterday, they were look at fans stories dragging them, and communicating to Swifties in group chats, saying that she can perform her old hits at the AMA's (but personally I believe they're just saying that, so when she does they can sue her, which is disgusting)... and this came up today as well.
