She has had that break. I think the most important thing for her right now is to keep on putting music out and let her voice be heard. Also, this documentary might build her enough momentum and good-will for the TS8 lead single later in the year or in early 2021. I meant like a minimum of 3-5 years. Being on the verge of tears because the Grammys didn’t recognize an album in the “big 3” categories after making history along with all the praise and accolades is rather sad IMO. I agree with you if she would have been sad and made a big deal out of in public. But this was private. Totally normal, imo. I mean, shoot, I get sad when my boss would say I did something not 100% right or I mess up at work. Most people wouldn't notice, but if I had camera crews on me when I would read my boss' email, they would have seen it.

I watched the film and I enjoyed it for the most part. It covered most of her controversies which was cool. ( I wanted to see the This is what you came for controversy covered personally). I don't know, overall it was nice but nothing ground breaking. God she was so hurt Rep only got 1 nomination and 0 wins wasn't she? She said she just needs to make a better record. It almost feels like she has just pushed that album to the back of her mind now seeing as she doesn't perform any songs from it anywhere now. But yeah overall it was nice but not amazing and a must see by any means.

It was an enjoyable doc. It sidesteps some of her uglier messes like TIWYCF, the girl squad and she doesn't actually address Kanye gate directly (i.e. I would like to be excluded from this narrative lmao).
But I liked what we got.

While I love the documentary, I'm a little confused. Does she expect to be nominated for a Grammy for every one of her albums? Does she expect to win them all?
I feel bad that she wasn't nominated for Reputation but it really seems like she always expects to win over others. Maybe it's just me.

I will admit it was kinda funny to go directly from “I am going to make a better record” IMMEDIATELY to her writing “ME!” Lol.
I loved the doc. Nothing too groundbreaking but the body shaming/eating disorder part was really crushing. We all are so cruel sometimes as a society.

I feel bad that she wasn't nominated for Reputation but it really seems like she always expects to win over others. Maybe it's just me. She doesn't really do this for the money anymore because she has all the money in the world. It's clear in the documentary she keeps putting out music to tell the story of her life to her fans. Maybe she expects to be recognized with every album she puts out because the only thing she truly wants to have from her work is acclaim. I get why it might sound entitled at first but if her ultimate goal is to create a legacy of acclaimed music, it's understandable she gets a little bummed when she isn't even nominated for the Grammys after winning AOTY 3 years prior.

As I stated previously, you could tell that Taylor cared deeply about Grammy Nominations/Wins. I wasn't exactly sure why until the Doc. She needs that praise and validation that she was putting out superior work.
I think she just sets the bar way too high for herself. On one hand, I appreciate it because we get superb music each time. On the other hand, it probably isn't good for her mental health.

She probably doesn't feel like her work is good enough if it doesn't get nominated for Grammy awards. I'm guessing without the awards she feels the body of work she puts out isn't quality. I wish she didn't set the bar so high for herself like that. I wish she kinda just got lost in the creating process and just have fun without getting stressed. It's worrying to watch.

I'm sure between Deborah Dugan-gate and Lover getting little love from them, she is probably done with the Grammys.
As for the charts, she seems to understand that ageism is real and the clock is ticking. I would really love another big era from her, with better single choices, but it has to happen sooner rather than later.
All the focus on ME! Kinda took me out during some sections. The track just sucks.

She needs to stop releasing her worst songs before the album. It's not helping her case at all.

Just watched Americana and really enjoyed it! As Taylor has proven over the past few years, she's a lot more self-aware than she's given credit for. I particularly found it interesting that she feels like she has one more opportunity to have a huge era because then she'll be 30 and people won't allow that.
The political parts were the best. It's rewarding watching her stand up to old men executives who weren't "comfortable" with her speaking out.
Taylor is definitely extremely smart and has grown on me enormously over the years. I'm a fan!

Well Taylor was already worrying about how her days might be numbered during Fearless era and look what we got, so I hope this just drives her to keep making great music rather than getting discouraged.
I mean tbh if no-one knows you and you want to build a loyal fanbase from scratch even 25 might be kinda older than ideal but she already has that fanbase and familiarity that she can use as a platform for success in ways that others can't. Like I think her time as the "It Girl du jour" has passed but she still has a good decade where a large number of people are still going to be checking for her and not just listening to only her old music like she's some legacy act.

I enjoyed the documentary. It wasn't a perfect unbiased look into everything, but it did give some great insight to a lot of decisions she's made throughout her career. It was painful seeing her reaction to not getting major Grammy nominations with reputation. I hope at this point she's learned to not take these awards so seriously. It does seem like she's trying to break out of that habit. The part where she stated she felt happy, but a different type of happy because it was an inward happiness really hit hard. That's, like, depression, Taylor! I'm so glad she's found someone to help her grow and get out of whatever rut she was undoubtedly in. I also got really teary eyed at the "all the things you worry about seem inconsequential when someone you love's health deteriorates" part. It really pained me though when they were showing the behind the scenes of making "ME!" and she was like "THIS IS THE LEAD SINGLE" like it was some magical moment or an epiphany of like "this is incredible and people will love it." The political moments of the doc where fantastic and really made me appreciate the trifecta of The Man, Miss Americana, and Only the Young that much more. Especially the scenes where she's fighting her dad to make that post urging people to vote. She really seems to care and hates that she was silent for so long about it. It was the first time I felt she did something without calculation and regard to her career. It was real and raw. Very cool to see. Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was and I definitely see her differently now after it. "I look like a Pop-Tart wrapper."

Some fans helped gather data on her Spotify performance, she got some pretty substantial boosts following the documentary, these were the daily streams yesterday vs the previous Monday.
Many of the biggest increases seem to have been for the fan favorites and less playlist dependent songs.

Five months later; "Cruel Summer", "The Archer", "Lover", "Miss Americana...", "London Boy", "False God", "Afterglow", "You Need To Calm Down" and "Daylight" are the only tracks that keep me coming back to this bloated album. These are the gems among the basic filler.

It really pained me though when they were showing the behind the scenes of making "ME!" and she was like "THIS IS THE LEAD SINGLE" like it was some magical moment or an epiphany of like "this is incredible and people will love it." It pained me that the scene after the Grammy snub where she said “I’m gonna make a better record” was her in the studio sketching out “ME!”.
