28 euros is nearly $42 CAD. Lmao I had no idea! Thought it was closer to the american dollar. Our money is worthless, but it’s at least very gay and colourful! 😂

This bitch!
I love this album! OK, maybe not love the album since I don't care for about 5-6 songs, but she did that thing I hate where she released all the stuff I don't like before the album dropped. And the songs I like, I love! My favs are:
1. Cruel Summer (this should have been the SOTS 2019, and saved One Sweet Day's record. I can't forgive her for it!) 2. The Man (If I Were a Boy is shook) 3. London Boy (it's thisclose to being annoying but she got lucky and it lands in cute territory) 4. Paper Rings (catchy af) 5. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince (annoying title but great song) 6. I Think He Knows (jam) 7. I Forgot That You Existed (love the message) 8. Afterglow 9. Cornelia Street (despite the fact that I was stood up for the one and only time at a place on Cornelia Street in NYC!) 10. Daylight 11. Death By A Thousand Cuts
I don't care for the rest at all, but I hear potential for Soon You'll Get Better and False God.

I read the RS review and they stay always doing the most. Comparisons to Prince, Cohen, Carole King? Really?

OK Cruel Summer is hitting me. Reaches the euphoric high of 1989. A blast.

Just bought 8 of the deluxe versions at target. The albums were front and center the second you enter the store, and I wasn’t even the only or first person buying them. I read that if you buy them all in a single receipt it counts as a single sale so I hope you didn't #GetLoverToAMilli. Maybe that was just stan Twitter tho. I got them in 2 separate transactions. I saw on twitter that the sale counts as 1 for target but that it’s still a total of 8 albums because 8 SKUs were scanned

Cruel Summer totally could have been (and maybe still can be?) the Blank Space of this album. Can’t stop replaying it.

My expectations were probably higher than they should have been as I found the album fluffier than I expected. I think more listens will win me over though because many of the songs were catchy enough, but nothing hit me the way Lover did on the first listen. The Dixie Chicks collab is nice. Definitely hoped it would have been more of a duet-style song but their support adds to that song, which I liked but I felt like could have hit harder in the chorus. False God was probably the song to jump out at me the most, though I was driving on a back road where it was pretty quiet and getting dark and the production of that song puts Taylor and the few instruments on it right in the speaker - which I think was really highlighted by my surroundings at the time. I liked it. Nothing jumped out as being terrible in any way though. I'm looking forward to digging deeper into it.

Honestly, Cornelia Street is going to be the fan favorite of the album. It's got the lyricism, melodies, and production. Love the subtle windshield wipers, rain, and thunder you hear in the background in the final chorus. Her mind.
This album is truly great. If you're a Taylor Swift fan from her early days to present, this album is pretty much a work of art of everything she's learned.

Letting it sit a bit, I believe the album could really use restructuring. If I were putting it together:
1. The Archer 2. The Man 3. Cruel Summer 4. I Think He Knows 5. Cornelia Street 6. London Boy 7. Afterglow 8. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince 9. False God 10. Lover 11. Paper Rings 12. Daylight
Deluxe 13. I Forgot That You Existed 14. You Need to Calm Down 15. ME! 16. Soon You'll Get Better
The standard edition of the album has a much better flow sonically and thematically this way and it's not as bloated either. Took some good yet not thematically relevant songs to the deluxe edition. "Death by a Thousand Cuts" and "It's Nice to Have a Friend" are both song about love, but not really about her current relationship. Thematically, they make more sense with the album than "The Man" and "Miss Americana," but personally I'd say their production value and repetitiveness of themes better discussed in context to her relationship through other tracks make them too samey and that's why I decided to remove them from the album altogether. They'd make fine B-sides for the first two singles, however. Or even nice Target exclusives or something.
I would then do this for singles:
1. Cruel Summer - Late April 2019 ~B-Side: Death by a Thousand Cuts 2. Paper Rings - Mid July 2019 ~B-Side: It's Nice to Have a Friend 3. The Man - Released alongside album, giving her an Ariana Grande-esque dominance of two singles at once and 3 singles released close together 4. Lover - Early November 2019 5. False God - Mid March 2020 6. Miss Americana or I Think He Knows - Late June 2020

Debuts with 55 million first day streams on Spotify, second highest female debut ever behind Ariana (Thank U, Next) with 68 million. Just ahead of Billie Eilish with 48 million and Ariana again (Sweetener) with 36 million. Also has her highest Metascore currently, but only 10 reviews so far so the score will likely change.

This is playing amazingly well with her strengths! Her lyrics have gotten a bit worse since Red but here it does not matter that much as the album is a cohesive body of work and everything SUITS her! Well done!

I had very low expectations after hearing all the pre-released tracks which didn't click with me at all (apart from YNTCD) but she exceeded those! Still have to give the album some more spins but I see some great tracks on here (Cruel Summer, False God, The Man, Miss Americana) but also some that really just feel like they're there... I'm not in love with this but it's better than what I was hoping for Let's see what time brings

First day Spotify numbers range from 4,283,000M for Cruel Summer to 1,822,000M for It's nice to have a friend. (excluding the singles because I don't know what they were at previously).

Could be Indonesian deluxe for me. The sax doesn't fit and the song is kinda sleep-sleep. I hear it's about the record industry tho, so...at least there's that? But yeah...not really for me.

How do you find Spotify numbers? It’s not showing on Spotifycharts.com There's early numbers on the counter on the desktop app. The numbers that Spotify charts releases later in the day are usually lower.

I only just found out that the 7 rooms in the Lover video represent the different album eras and her life during each of era. Wow, I have a newfound appreciation for that video now. Impressed!

Reputation still tops the album for me but Lover is definitely my second favorite. The Man and Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince are my favorite.

This might just be my fourth favourite album from her (after 1989, Speak Now and Red). I like Cruel Summer the best at this point.
