It's interesting because, again, the song is well-produced (just a little too happy, but I feel that way about all of the recent manic, Glee-type songs from Panic!) and fun and in the context of the album, it fits better than some of the songs people have been raving about. Also, I am happy that I got to keep my version with Hey Kids! Spelling Is Fun! because that awkward gap is just too weird for me, #SNS.

“False God” will be a single in early 2020 and it will be one of her most acclaimed hits, quote me in 5 years Finally, I thought everyone was slandering this track. It's clearly top 3 on the album. She gave us a Carly Rae Jepsen moment on that song and for that we say yes.

Me! is the type of song a husband wife children’s entertainer duo sing to a gymnasium of 8 year olds.

I'm only keeping these tracks below, the rest are flushed (including that snoozefest of a title track y'all are enamored with), sorry not sorry.
I Forgot That You Existed - I love how minimalistic and catchy this is
Cruel Summer - <3 pop bliss perfection one of her best
The Archer - Love the production of this, love the retro vibe, could easily fit in a soundtrack to an 80s John Hughes movie easily
The Man - <3 [2] pop bliss [2] NEEDS to be a single, could see it growing into my #1 fav on the album
I Think He Knows - cute CRJ-esque bop
Miss Americana... - sexy stripper jam. ADORE this, it's giving me Prince
Death By A Thousand Cuts - This is giving me Sixpence None The Richer mixed with 80s Carly Simon, I really like Taylor's vocal here
London Boy - I love the lyrics and that guitar (?) at the end highlighting the melody
False God - Sax!!! Wish it was even more pronounced but yea this song is a keeper. Another sripper jam tbh
You Need To Calm Down - I've liked this since day 1 tbh and it's grown on me more overtime haters can seethe etc
ME! - Another one I've never disliked tbh and find it to be a really cute duet. Not a top favorite on the album, but not skippable
It's Nice To Have A Friend - IDK why the music of this one is giving me 90s Asian erotic VHS teas but it does. The songwriting is its strongest asset for me, truthfully it feels like a long interlude, I'm keeping it though
Overall, Lover is a *massive* step-up from reputation as far as I'm concerned. I thought that record was full of clunkers, which thankfully this one isn't. This sounds like a proper follow-up to 1989.

Good numbers on Spotify. Lover seems the right choice for a single now. Then if she wants to continue releasing singles, Cruel Summer and The Man would be options.

Yup...grower album confirmed. Great headphones bring all kinds of shit out of these songs. Better than rep and 1989 for me now. Red stands in the way, thanks to my new re-evaluation of her albums but I have realized why I put Red so high. The focus was ALL Taylor. Everything since then has pretty been a producer's album, in my opinion, or...spot-the-influence. Also, I am getting ...Nice Things vibes from more of these songs than I was expecting, but they never annoy me. Even Miss Americana has that vibe, due to the children chanting and the plink plink piano. The kids chanting also remind me of Leave! Who! Now! from JoJo, LMAO.
This does have a chance to be my fave of hers over time though. Why? Well...blame The Archer, which has now overtaken Ronan as my favorite song of hers. The lyrics were written specifically for me. This is the first time she has TRULY capture how I feel.

This is my 2nd favorite album by her but I think it might be able to top 1989 for me, it's just so good! Sounds much more grown-up than anything she has ever done and I'm here for it. There's not a single song that I dislike apart from ME! and YNTCD and that might be because they have burned on me.

This bitch did what I hate most. The names/tags on the two songs with apostrophes are different on the Spotify and iTunes versions (ex. “It’s Nice To Have A Friend” vs “It's Nice To Have A Friend”). I’m gonna kill her. RIP to my Last FM library.

I've given this album a few listens now, not really feeling it overall compared to the other 6, yes, even reputation. I might buy this though when it goes on sale for 6.99 or something. The tracks I like, in no particular order: Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince Lover The Man The Archer Soon You’ll Get Better Afterglow Cornelia Street False God Daylight

I think the numbers are still good taking into consideration that she is becoming more of a legacy act.

Welp. She had a good run. (600-625k sales) Nothing to welp at, that's still good considering her situation and how the industry has change in the last two years. That's Scorpion numbers and we know how huge Drake is. That's good numbers.

She just took some risks that didn't go as planned. It happens and she will be fine.

1 million is still very much possible. The predictions will trend upwards. I think she’ll wind up Platinum on impact once the final numbers come in and they factor in the pre-release track streaming totals.

I think she’ll wind up Platinum on impact once the final numbers come in and they factor in the pre-release track streaming totals. That's almost a given. I think they are underestimating her streaming. Sales might also be a little higher. HDD is always very conservative when it comes to Taylor but we will see.

That's Scorpion numbers and we know how huge Drake is. That's good numbers. It’s VERY different than Drake’s ‘Scorpion’ whose first-week sales primarily came as sales plus streaming (SPS) from its massive streaming numbers, whereas Taylor, like Adele, actually sells albums: “In the United States, Scorpion opened atop the Billboard 200 with 732,000 album-equivalent units, which included 160,000 pure album sales, making it the biggest first week of the year at the time. It became his eighth entry in a row to top the chart and broke the country's streaming record with 745.92 million streams in its first week. Although debuting at number one, the album serves as Drake's lowest first-week pure sales of his career”.

I was comparing each of their SPS numbers (Scorpion's SPS vs Lover's SPS) not Scorpion's SPS to Lover's pure sales.

Highlights Lover Cruel Summer The Archer Miss Americana and The Heartbreak Prince London Boy Soon You'll Get Better False God You Need To Calm Down Afterglow Daylight
Really enjoying all these mentioned. It's more instant than reputation. Very cohesive album and fits right in with her discography.
