I think they saw the leaks and moved ahead the release? Plus the song wasn't setting the charts on fire either.
I love the song so much that even with a cheap remix I still want it to succeed. The chart run has been painful so far.

Taylor does absolutely nothing on accident. Everything is calculated and planned. I wonder if the updated lyrics are either Shawn fessing up and finally telling Camila he loves her OR meant to be from Joe's perspective.
For instance: We would sit on the stoop/I'll sing love songs to you when we're eighty gave me "Mary's Song (Oh My My My) vibes.
Also: Look in my eyes, they will tell you the truth/the girl in my story has always been you (also gave me Mary's Song vibes)
i think it is important to note that in Mary's Song, Taylor mentions to the love interest that "you were 7 and I was 9" and in "Daylight" Taylor says I've been sleeping so long in a twenty-year dark night. Also in "Lover" Taylor sings Have I known you 20 seconds or 20 years...
Call me crazy but tbh something about that suggests that Joe and Taylor might very well have known each other when they were kids. The fact they've been together this long tells my romantic self that they're soulmates, but idk this is all just wild theories...
I personally love Shawn and his voice, and think he sounded heavenly in this song. Also can we talk about the updated color scheme? THAT should have been for the album cover. I love those purple and yellow vibes. The purple looks incredible in Taylor's hair.

They are being recorded though and the performance will rack up millions of views on YouTube. Dirty play, but she couldn’t have expected that they were going to play nice after that first statement. Don’t play the victim angle (edit: even though she is a victim, I hate to see “I don’t know what else to do”. Yes you do, Taylor. Look at your fucking career. You’ll find a way). It will be over next year. She’s HAD to have written a song about this by now. Debut it at the awards show, say it’s available everywhere after the show, tack it onto the digital of Lover...the biggest revenge is success. |

She lost the battle, she’ll win the war — you can’t have it all. Taylor Swift: Greatest Hits Stadium World Tour, have all 5 albums in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 first week, multiple songs rechart on the Hot 100....like c’mon. It sucks to not play this award show, but you won. |

I know people go after her for not owning her masters or whatever but damn it must be insane to know you’re the creator of those songs (your personal experiences, time, effort was put in) and to not be able to perform them must feel horrible. Mind-blowing

I can barely find the words to articulate how thoroughly disgusted I am. I genuinely feel like I could vomit. To literally own 19 songs (counting Beautiful Ghosts out tomorrow) out of seven albums over 13 years is something I could never imagine happening to me. Songs like ATW were not written for two tyrannical men to own them.
And she is not asking us fans to bully them. She is asking us fans, the people who've been by her side for 13 years, to help her reason as much as possible with these two. There is a huge difference. It saddens and disgusts me that these two pigs are basically doing whatever they can to keep her out of the spotlight until November 2020. And if they even try to prevent these re-recordings I'm going to spit fire. @ Ariana Grande, Scootie's main chick: fight like hell for Taylor because I know you care about your fellow artists. Risk it all if you have to, but I urge you to make an effort. (Sad for you too that you likely don't truly own any of your music either.) Yeah this post is a rambling mess but like I said I'm kinda speechless. WTF
