It's mindboggling really. It almost feels like she wanted a negative reaction. I just can't see how anyone would think this was the ideal single release. You need to calm down was clearly released for its personal significance to her to have a song from her to the gay community so I understand the choice there Yeah the real problem was Me

I balk @ the idea of “I Think He Knows” being released as a single because it would kill my soul to have a CRJ-lite Taylor song be a hit while the real Carly can barely make a dent on the charts with her own (superior) brand of slick pop. ITHK is a bop but it could literally be a b-side on Dedicated, and I lowkey blame Jack for the that one.

I can sort of see the similarities between the production on the verses of Pynk and ITHK, but Dirty Computer definitely wasn't the first thing that came to mind when I heard it.
I do love ITHK (it's probably 6th on Lover for me), but in no way do I think it would be a bigger hit than something like "Cruel Summer".

I mean ITHK is my #5 on the album and is tailor-made for radio in my opinion. It grew on me SIGNIFICANTLY (it was initially my #16 on the record) and I've come to appreciate it immensely for the bop and a half that it is and wish it would come to radio...AFTER CS and The Man.
I mean this bridge tho: Lyrical smile/Indigo eyes/Hand on my thigh/We could follow the sparks, I'll drive. CLASSIC.

I think the thing with Lover, and this was sort of true with reputation as well, is that there are lots of radio-friendly tracks but are there any smash hits? Is there anything that would actually stick around the top 10 for a long time? "Cruel Summer" probably has the best shot but even that one I'm not convinced. I thought "Lover" would be that song but clearly not.

I didn’t want to like I Think He Knows in the beginning but that chorus. Damn.
I still can’t figure out what the verses remind me of though.

Always loved "I Think He Knows". Particularly love how the song's production builds and gets meatier in that final chrous kick. The production pay off we all wanted from "The Archer".

I thought "Lover" would be that song but clearly not. I feel like "Getaway Car", "I Did Something Bad", and "Cruel Summer" all have the intangible smash hit quality, and maybe a few slower songs on them as well. I just feel like a late release of "Cruel Summer" might not have enough hype and wouldn't get that smash status. Insane to think that 1989 had 10, 11 smash hits on it.

Clean could've and should've been released imo. That song is a life-saver in the most important sense of the word and I wish the GP could've had a chance to hear it because a lot of people can relate in their own way to the lyrics of that song, most notably that powerful bridge: " Ten months sober I must admit/Just because you're clean don't mean you don't miss it/Ten months older I won't give in/Now that I'm clean I'm never gonna risk it." That could be a reference to anything from alcoholism to substance abuse to {trigger warning} cutting

Taylor is rumored to be dropping new music before the year ends. And it’s not Cats - related.
Are we getting the synthpop Christmas EP we deserve?

I’d love to get some songs that didn’t make Taylor’s previous albums. We have some 2000s unreleased tracks from Taylor but imagine what the ‘1989’ rejects might sound like

Are we so sure it's already TS8 tho? Taylor writes quickly but LORDT she still has to get it recorded and mixed and mastered. That'd be impossible to do by the end of 2019.
It can't possibly be any re-recording because she can't rerecord until November 2020, and reputation has to wait until even later.
I'll really get excited when Taylor officially announces something. The new music might very well be Beautiful Ghosts for the Cats soundtrack. That really is all that makes sense to me, seeing as how Cats comes out in December.
Speaking of December, whatever she supposedly has for us will 100% be released on the 13th. Her 30th birthday, a Friday, her number.

Not related to Cats according to HDD.
Could be some sort of EP? It's probably not some rush release, she most likely had this planned for a while.
Weird that she might pull an Ariana on us. She was probably the last defender of the old album cycle, along with Adele.

Hopefully it's not Borchetta releasing some unreleased songs he somehow managed to get rights to considering the rumours seem to be coming out of Nashville. I can see her releasing another Christmas EP.
It does seem strange that she'd release Beautiful Ghosts and something unrelated to Cats at the same time since that would mean they'd take attention and promo slots away from each other.

If we compare the releases of Sweetener and thank u, next to Lover and potentially something else from Taylor it would line up like so (both under Republic, who I am sure helped with the timing of tu, n release):
First Single:
Ariana - April 20th, 2018
Taylor - April 26, 2019
Promo Single:
Ariana - June 20, 2018
Taylor - July 23, 2019
Second Single:
Ariana - July 13th, 2018
Taylor - June 14th, 2019 [my small comment- comparing Tay's second single against Ariana's promo single makes things line up better]
Third Single:
Ariana - September 18, 2018
Taylor - August 16, 2019
1st Album:
Ariana - August 17, 2018
Taylor - August 23, 2019

2nd Album:
Ariana - February 8, 2019

This project was nice and definitely a transition album for Tay. The only misstep was single selection, which should have went 1) YNTCD 2) Cruel Summer 3) Lover.
I’m excited for the next era and I think the pressure if off Tay to meet these unrealistic expectations the next album cycle.

I would guess she'd be there to possibly perform one of two songs: Lover, or SYGB with the Dixie Chicks (which I deem extremely out of the question because she understandably can't even listen to it when it's playing) Those two songs are the only things that would make sense to me at the CMAs.

Honestly - here for a Lover follow up. There aren’t any smashes to my ear on Lover, so let the fans keep enjoying it and release something fresh (I acknowledge that Lover is less than 3 months old and still fresh)

What is the definition of the word "record"? Song? Group of songs?

What is the definition of the word "record"? Song? Group of songs? By definition, it stems from the era when vinyl first emerged - vinyl recordings were referred to as "records" no matter the size or number of songs so a single, EP or album can all be considered a record. Personally, I think of it the way the Grammys do: a record is an individual song; an EP/album is a collection of songs. However, many artists use record/album interchangeably and I know Taylor tends to refer to her full albums as records.

An insider says it's justa temix of something else from Lover that isn't a single yet.
Unless they are rushing Cruel Summer... whoever said The Man ft. Post Malone must be feeling confident.
