Following his appearance as the musical guest on NBC's Saturday Night Live on March 2, Thomas Rhett's new single, "Look What God Gave Her,” which he performed on the show, soars into the top 10 of Billboard's airplay-, streaming- and sales-powered Hot Country Songs chart (dated March 16), vaulting 37-5 in its second week on the tally.
"Look" marks Rhett's 13th Hot Country Songs top 10, a sum that includes one No. 1, "Die a Happy Man," which reigned for 17 weeks starting in November 2015.
With its 32-spot jump, "Look" makes Rhett's biggest jump on the chart since "Craving You" (featuring Maren Morris) rocketed 46-5 on April 22, 2017, also in its second chart week; it went on to peak at No. 3.
Following its Feb. 28 release, "Look" launches atop Country Digital Song Sales with 19,000 downloads sold in its first full week of tracking (ending March 7), according to Nielsen Music. Rhett racks his second No. 1 (among 18 top 10s) on the list, following "Happy," which led for 15 weeks beginning in October 2015. "Look" is his first song to start at No. 1 on the chart.
"Look" also logged 6 million U.S. streams in the week ending March 7 and opens at No. 7 on Country Streaming Songs, giving the singer-songwriter his 12th top 10 and his highest debut, besting "Marry Me," which entered at No. 8 in January 2018.
On Country Airplay, "Look" dips 20-22 in its second week, with 10.6 million audience impressions in the week ending March 10 (down 7 percent; it soared in a week ago helped by hourly first-day plays on participating iHeartMedia-owned stations).
"Look," which Rhett wrote with his father, Rhett Akins, Julian Bunetta, John Ryan and J Cash, was inspired by his wife, Lauren. It's the lead single from Rhett's fourth LP, Center Point Road. The set, due May 31, is named after the road on which he grew up in Hendersonville, Tenn.
BRETT'S TOP 10s ARE "HERE" Brett Young's "Here Tonight" reaches the top 10 on both Hot Country Songs (12-10) and Country Airplay (11-9), awarding him his fifth straight career-opening top 10 on each list.
"Here" scales Country Airplay with a 13 percent increase to 25 million impressions. It also corralled 5 million streams, a 17 percent surge.
Young's first hit, "Sleep Without You," peaked at No. 2 on Country Airplay in 2016, followed by three consecutive No. 1s: "In Case You Didn't Know" which led for two weeks in June 2017, "Like I Loved You" (three weeks, January 2018) and "Mercy" (two weeks, August 2018).
On Hot Country Songs they reached Nos. 3, 2, 2 and 3, respectively.

Tbh Sicko Mode is living on the edge right now, its airplay is in decline week after week and it was just pure luck (surprising drop by Thotiana and Thank U Next to some extent) that it got that 31st week, can't see it getting the 32nd.

Jonas Brothers' 'Sucker' Keeps Pop on Top of Streaming Songs Chart
News
By Kevin Rutherford | March 12, 2019 2:37 PM EDT
The song launches at No. 1, dethroning Ariana Grande's "7 Rings."
With Jonas Brothers' "Sucker" arriving as the trio's first leader on the Billboard Hot 100, the track also debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's Streaming Songs chart dated March 16.
"Sucker" bows atop the latter list with 43.7 million U.S. streams in its first week (ending March 7), according to Nielsen Music.
The group had not previously made Streaming Songs, which began in 2013; after all, the band's pre-reunion musical heyday was around 2007-09, when they charted 16 of their now 18 total Hot 100 entries.
The boy band is the first act to debut at No. 1 on Streaming Songs with a first charting title since Zayn (formerly of fellow boy band One Direction); his "Pillowtalk" arrived atop the Feb. 20, 2016-dated ranking.
"Sucker" is also the second track to start at No. 1 on the list in 2019, following Ariana Grande's "7 Rings," whose six-week reign atop Streaming Songs is interrupted by the debut of "Sucker."
With "Sucker" following "7 Rings" atop Streaming Songs, pop songs are staging a resurgence in the chart's penthouse. Songs from the genre reign back-to-back for the second time since the end of 2018 when, on the Jan. 5-dated tally, Mariah Carey's 1994 classic "All I Want for Christmas Is You" replaced Grande's "Thank U, Next" after seven weeks at No. 1. Before then, hip-hop hits had held the top spot for 41 consecutive weeks (24 by Drake), after Camila Cabello's "Havana," featuring Young Thug, had led on Jan. 27, 2018.
The last pop song by a lead male act to top Streaming Songs before "Sucker"? Ed Sheeran's "Perfect," with Beyoncé, on Jan. 3, 2018.
"Sucker" was assisted by a pair of music videos released by Jonas Brothers during the March 1-7 tracking week: the proper clip March 1 and a director's cut March 4. The track also opens as the biggest on on-demand audio services, accruing 26.9 million on-demand audio streams to open at No. 1 on the On-Demand Streaming Songs chart.

Its on-demand, youtube views are next to zero. I mean, don't you guys find it odd that Believer can outlast Despacito on the charts and it's because of freakin' streaming?

Believer being so resilient makes me wish for no recurrent rules. Not because I like it, but because it's 2 years later and it'd still be in the top 50 and that would piss so many people off, myself included, that it'd be one hell of a time.

Yes. "Not that outstanding"? What do you expect from a 2-year-old song? It's almost one year in the top 10 of Radio recurrents. SOY is still bigger than TNHMB, despite being 3,5 months older.

What I'm referring to is SOY's 49th week in recurrent and it's at #10 TNHMB's 59th week in recurrent and it's at #16 They're pretty much neck-to-neck after falling off the chart. I thought SOY's gonna be like, 50 weeks in recurrent's top 3 (remember dat SOY fell from Hot 100 at #24 or #25 and wasn't allowed to chart in Radio Songs, and TNHMB fell from #40-something, remember that lambs for 25/52 rule technically had an extra edge to own recurrent charts for at least a year), but it performed no better than a moderate Shawn Mendes success after falling off Radio Songs. SOY's the biggest radio song this decade. Shawn is a naughty one to mess with a king! Understand?

It's similar to the case where after a decade, This Love by Maroon 5 (not in decade-end top 100) ended up having bigger radio accumulative audience than We Belong Together (Hot 100's 2000s' decade-end #1). Source: pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/116882/cumulative-audiences?page=2This Love and We Belong Together are both from the era where Hot 100's like a carbon copy of Radio Songs because sales had next to 0 point at that era. This Love got tons of recurrent plays. But WBT didn't. Which means, if recurrent performance is taken into consideration, even This Love can have a shot at decade-end #1. Time to think if Hot 100's tracking is too limited to the top 50 songs of the week.

Technically, when you add weeks from Radio chart to this it's: SOY- 49w+60w= 109 weeksTNHMB- 59w+32w= 91 weeksbut I agree with you about TNHMB, it's a giant radio hit. Unexpectedly

Cardi B & Bruno Mars' 'Please Me' Hits No. 1 On the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart
News
By Trevor Anderson | March 13, 2019 11:47 AM EDT Cardi B and Bruno Mars
Cardi B and Bruno Mars’ second collaboration, “Please Me,” rockets to the top of Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with a 6-1 burst on the list dated March 16. The track becomes Mars’ third No. 1, while Cardi B collects her fourth.
“Please” traces its jump largely to increased streams after its official music video premiered on March 1. The song rallied to 45.3 million U.S. streams in the week ending March 7, according to Nielsen Music, up 86 percent from the prior frame. The surge thrusts the track 9-1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs.
Sales, too, pick up as the collaboration registers 28,000 downloads in the week ending March 7, enough to return the collaboration to No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales for a second overall week. It previously led two frames ago, with its opening sum of 51,000 downloads.
Before “Please,” Cardi B and Mars reigned on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with their previous collaboration, “Finesse.” The single, a remixed version of a song from Mars’ 2016 album 24K Magic, ruled for one week in January 2018.
In addition to sales and streams, “Please” also improves in the final component of Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, radio airplay. The track enters the top 10 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay (12-9), with a 13 percent gain in audience to 16.9 million in the week ending March 10, according to Nielsen Music.
Mars collects his ninth top 10 there, while Cardi B banks her 12th. Notably, Cardi B claims three other songs in the top 10: “Money,” which ranks at No. 1 for a seventh straight week, and featured roles on City Girls’ “Twerk,” and Pardison Fontaine’s “Backin’ It Up,” at Nos. 5 and 7, respectively.
Cardi B remains the only woman to claim four songs in the top 10 of R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay in a single week. She previously achieved the feat for four straight weeks in February – March of 2018 through “Finesse,” “Motorsport,” with Migos and Nicki Minaj, “Bartier Cardi,” featuring 21 Savage and a featured turn alongside A$AP Rocky on G-Eazy’s “No Limit.”
Elsewhere, “Please” continues to make inroads on other radio formats. It pushes 13-11 on Rhythmic Songs through a 13 percent jump in plays in the week ending March 11 and retains its No. 15 peak thus far on the Pop Songs airplay chart, though it climbs 7 percent in weekly plays.

Spurred by a TikTok Meme, Lil Nas X Scores First Billboard Hot 100 Hit With 'Old Town Road' 3/13/2019 by Xander Zellner
The track also debuts on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Atlanta country-trap singer Lil Nas X charts his first song on Billboard's rankings, as "Old Town Road" debuts at No. 83 on the Billboard Hot 100, among other tallies, dated March 16.
Originally released late last year, the track has surged in memes on social media platform TikTok, where users have uploaded millions of clips using bits of the song, plus the hashtag #oldtownroad (see below).
The song, which samples Nine Inch Nails' 2008 track "34 Ghosts IV," drew 8.8 million U.S. streams (up 302 percent) and 4,000 downloads sold (up 295 percent) in the weekending March 7, according to Nielsen Music.
The track's official video, which Lil Nas X released Dec. 2 and features clips from the video game Red Dead Redemption, has raked in 4.3 million global YouTube views to date.
"Old Town Road" concurrently debuts at No. 36 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, while Lil Nas X enters the Emerging Artists chart at No. 14.

Think no one noticed that huh... Together with the problematic statement that Xander said "It’s not really controversial here, because we know that Florida Georgia Line is a country act, and we know that ‘Meant to Be’ is a country song" in this article, Billboard is a mess by artificially adding songs to these genre charts.

Labels Sparring Over Rapper Lil Nas X As 'Old Town Road' Rakes In Streams: Exclusive
NewsRecord Labels
By Tatiana Cirisano | March 14, 2019 7:09 AM EDT
Some labels are prepared to offer Atlanta rapper Lil Nas X a seven-figure deal, as his country-trap song "Old Town Road" rakes in streams, sources told Billboard.
The moody track about a lonesome cowboy, which interpolates Nine Inch Nails' 2008 song "34 Ghosts IV," was released in early December. It has since topped more than 11.5 million streams on Spotify, and its music video -- which features footage from the Western video game Red Dead Redemption -- has generated close to 5 million views.
"Old Town Road" hits the Hot 100 this week, landing at No. 83. It also debuts on Hot Country Songs at No. 19 (on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop, it enters at No. 36), and has a co-sign from Florida Georgia Line's Brian Kelley.
Like many quick-rising hip-hop hits in 2019, this one also involves memes and a viral social media challenge. TikTok users have turned the track's "I got the horses in the back" lyric into a video meme where users transform into cowboys as the country-flavored chorus plays in the background. Even sports coverage site Bleacher Report got in on the meme-making back in December.
Lil Nas X self-released his first project, Naserati, last year. Last month, he released his latest single, the guitar-tinged, mellow "BANZUP,'" which has 132,000 plays to date.
A spokesperson for Lil Nas X could not be reached for comment at press time
