I still don't understand why people are only comparing those two songs. The post that started the discussion also suggested "Shallow" is bigger than songs like "Shape of You," "God's Plan," and "Despacito."

Except not really. It isn't a "different time period". That'd be like saying you can only compare songs released within the same year. It's longevity won't last that long. And as I already said, its streaming does not make up for the sales loss, therefore you can't use that as an excuse. Even looking at Hot 100 performance, Timberlake's song is far better performing than Gaga's, which was hovering around the 20s prior to the Oscars. And it seems like it'll have a quick descent down back to that area.

Sucker had a huge lead on iTunes and Spotify and that's the reason it's still #1 on both metrics, but it's not holding well.

It's predicted to sell 79k this week and looking at Kworb's pop bars I don't think it's going to sell more than 45k next week. That's at least a 43% loss in downloads.

On Spotify, it lost 43% on Friday (vs. last week's Friday) and 32% on Saturday (vs. last week's Saturday).

^Another place, I'd expect it to not hold up as well is YouTube weekly views. It managed 16.6M in the US last week in the US but it seems it would be getting clisr to that worldwide next week, which works out to more than a 70% drop.

I don’t have the info nor the opinion to speak on other metric comparisons but there were several previous sales arguments which felt silly to me Bc basically they are both leaders in the year they were released

What are normal drops for big songs, though?

Also, let's be real; who would have predicted it would still be #1 on iTunes and Spotify a full week after its debut? That's my point.

^Positional drops generally tell less than actual numbers. That said Sucker still being #1 in Spotify is unexpected at this point.
