Both original and reprise version of Blackbirds are stunning.

"Blackbirds" stopped me in my tracks the first time I heard it, simply an amazing song!

I totally expected this to go next considering what's left, but I'm still so glad that this one came as far as it did. Easily my favorite discovery. Great song!

This song is easily my favorite re-discovery of this rankdown. I had heard it before but never really listened to the lyrics and listening to it for this I just loved it and am glad I'm not the only one who saw how incredible this song is! The final 7 is stacked and 2 of them will miss the Top 5? anyone have any guesses?

"The Secret Of Life" is leaving in the correct place considering everything that is left. It was one of my guesses to miss the top 5.
My other guess would be between Trisha and Pam. Although tbh nothing that is left deserves to miss the top 5 :'(
I could also see "This Uncivil War" leaving before the top 5, if only due to familiarity bias helping give all the other songs a boost because they were all hits.

While I can’t say I revisit “Blackbirds” much there’s no denying it’ll stop you in your tracks the first time you hear it.
My top five was already stacked and so it pained me to not be able to find room for “The Secret of Life” as it has long been one of my all-time favorite songs by Faith.
I know that quite a few of the participants here are a fan of Maritna’s “This Uncivil War” but I’d much prefer to see that miss the top 5 considering what’s remaining.

Ok now I'm really starting to consider "This Uncivil War" to be a bit overrated here on Pulse...I mean I know its beloved on here but "The Secret of Life" or even "My Baby Loves Me" should've made it further than that.

"This Uncivil War" is one of the best songs of all time, by any artist, hit or not. I am shocked to see "My Baby Loves Me" fall out before it, but "The Secret Of Life" could never!!!

OMG SHOOK at "My Baby Loves Me" missing the top 5!!!! That was not even on my radar!!!! I was hoping Martina could get 3 into the top 5, but I am okay with this situation due to how unexpected it was! Lol

One of Trisha's best and most powerful songs. So glad it made the top 5 here, especially among such great company.
Expecting "Pony" to be out next because the Martina and Patty songs here are held in a much higher regard.

Happy to see "On A Bus to St. Cloud" make it into the top 5 and this is one song that I regret not putting higher because I've loved this from the very first moment I heard it. I was given the album Thinkin' About You as a gift and remember playing this song over and over...and then some more lol. My top 5 was already stacked along with my top 10 so I had a hard time ranking this along with so many other favorites.
It goes without saying that I'd rather not see a Martina vs. Martina showdown here so "This Uncivil War" can leave next please.

What an epic top 2! It's my #1 vs. my #3.

All things considered my #2 is my favorite song so I'm rooting for that one, but either way both are amongst my favorite songs ever written by Gretchen so I won't be disappointed with either one winning.

What a great finish and again these were the two songs that I was hoping to see in the final two. Of course I had no idea back in the day that Gretchen wrote either of these two hits but after becoming more familiar with her individual work in more recent years I can certainly hear her signature style on both of them. "You Don't Even Know Who I Am" is my favorite song amongst the songs recorded by other artists but I also love "Arguing With Ghosts" just as much so I consider both to be my top ranking songs lol. "Independence Day" only fell back a bit on my list because I had two of Gretchen's songs ahead of it (the one previously mentioned as well as "To Say Goodbye") as well as George of course...but it goes without saying that this remains a classic all of these years later. Thanks again castleoblivion26 as this was such a pleasure getting to do especially when I just happened to have the chance to see Gretchen live at the start of this! And while the turnout wasn't as robust as hoped it was refreshing to do a rankdown of songs outside of what we are all used to doing and I hope more users step outside of their comfort zone for rankdowns like this in the future.

On A Bus to St Cloud is one of my favourite Trisha Yearwood songs (and I love Trisha's music). It's beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time, melody is gorgeous. Instrumentation (piano lead is amazing and steel guitar fits so good), together with Trisha's perfect vocal performance, gives it just the right amount of heaviness and sadness that is consistent with lyrics that are simply heartbreaking. I like the video too because it captures the mood of the song perfectly.
I'm happy that it ended up in top 5 - it's one of the best and most underrated Trisha's songs.
