pretty sure this is the first time in rankdown history that the last place song has been last place by literally EVERYBODY! I'm not one to hate songs just for being instrumentals, but there is literally no reason for this particular song to exist. It's not like "Better Friends" was a standout song to begin with, nor is it one that is recognizable enough to define the whole album with a closing "Reprise". Much of this album is suuuuuper meh to me, so even though "Burning Star" is my #5 I honestly don't care about it that much. The only songs I am really passionate about here are my top 2. Even as my #5 here, this would be an easy bottom 2 for me on most other albums, lol.

Yeah I was shocked that everyone put the Reprise in last place but not entirely either lol, definitely do think it is the first time that has happened I have to agree on the album as a whole being meh, I do actually really enjoy a few of these songs that I didn't initially so I do think some of these songs can grow on you if given enough time but overall it is rather forgettable. I may do some more reveals in a little bit if people want me to

I didn’t think this album is “meh” at all. It’s my favourite of hers since “All Of This Love”. Mind you it took a few listens to win over a few of the albums in between.

WHAT?! "Better Friends" is hands down one of the best songs on the album. Y'all are just tragic. I guess I should've seen this coming yesterday... It's not like "Better Friends" was a standout song to begin with, nor is it one that is recognizable enough to define the whole album with a closing "Reprise". Same goes for "The Scheme of Things" as that steel guitar is just heaven.

If I were to rank this album now I think "Dark Turn of Mind" would be in my Top 5, this one has grown on me the most and has stuck with me the longest, outside of the title track.
Up next is a tie so I'll be posting #7 & #6 together! What will be missing the Top 5?

Well then! At least "Karma" made the album tracks rd. tim and Kanenrá:ke will have plenty of time to schedule an otolaryngology appointment before they get to rank this jam again ;) "Karma" has a super eclectic production job, but that just means it is one of the only songs on this album that stands out from the crowd. And that melody is incredible!

Lol @ "Dark Turn of Mind" being this low. It was literally the only song other than "Dolly 1969" that I genuinely enjoyed. Everything else ranged from meh to awful.

I just do not get what people hear in "Demolition Angel". Outside of that awesome title, the song itself is boring af.

Pam's voice sounds pretty great on "My Kind Of Medicine"! The melody is fine too; I could see this growing on me more if listened to outside of the context of this album, like maybe in the album tracks rankdown! The top 3 should go: 3. "Last Summer's Wine" 2. "Looking For A Feeling" 1. "Dolly 1969"

OMG did I really have "Looking For A Feeling" at #8 😂
This song is decent. Poor choice for a single, not that it matters anyway because it was not formally pushed at all, but the song itself has grown on me since it was first released. The only thing that would make it be as low as #8 on my list is because the album as a whole is just so consistently meh that a handful of other meh tunes must have barely edged out this one.
Color me shocked to see "Last Summer's Wine" in the top 2! That one doesn't scream "amazing" to me by any means, but it definitely is one of the more universal songs on this album. Like, it could have been on any of her albums. On this album the never-ending mellow production causes it to kinda get lost in the shuffle at first, but after a few listens it was clear to me that it was one of the better songs here, that would have probably stood out in a good way on some of her other albums where it would be the only one to occupy that sonic niche.
That being said, Dolly for the win!!!!! I was worried the title track might be able to sneak a win over Dolly, but this actual matchup gives me much more faith that Dolly can pull this off!

YES!!! The only correct winner here. The talk-singing in the verses takes some getting used to without a doubt, but that chorus is one of the most undeniable melodies to come from Pam's entire post-hit-maker career! Thanks for hosting castleoblivion26! Can't believe we're actually done with all the regular albums now! Excited for the Extras, as I thought it was overall a pretty strong list!

"Keep Your Eyes On Jesus" is better than some of the cheesy religious songs we got in LAW's Extras rd at least. But it is still just very....lame. Lol. Also, isn't this like the third rd we have done recently that had a story being narrated by Johnny Cash?? Is that a "thing" I didn't know about due to my youth? Does Johnny Cash have recordings of himself reading biblical stories already, or did people really start pulling him into the studio to narrate their specific projects in his later years?
"Precious Memories" was just boring af... Pam and Brenda both sound pretty good, but Martina's collaboration "Uncloudy Day" from the same album is lightyears better, lol.
