EXTRAS:
You Learn - Alanis Morissette Both Shakira and Alanis released albums in 95. Both had similar sounds vocally and musically, but I preferred Shakira.
Nothing to Believe In - Cracker Didn't recall this one. Not so bad. Poor man's Everclear at best.
Super-Charger Heaven - White Zombie I'll take it because it's balls out fierce.
Israel's Son - Silverchair never cared for anything about Silverchair. Not my style.
T.A.I.L. - Into Another needs a serious injection of melodic guitar.
She Shines - Gren Another first time listen that sounded like everything other 90's song.
Stupid Girl - Garbage Good song. It has enough Rock elements to fit in nicely.
Ticking - Loud Lucy First time listen. I liked this one. Also sounded like every other 90's song, but from the good side of the 90's.
Guilty - Gravity Kills When elektro sounds do not ruin a hard Alt rock song.
If It Makes You Happy - Sheryl Crow I would have put this one pretty high here. At least top 30. It's my favorite Sheryl Crow song,The guitar is played the style I like ,and she really belts out the chorus the way that chorus needed to be sung. That works for me in Rock music.

I may have run out of time, but I think I can share my thoughts on the songs as they pop up. PS: The parenthesis shows where I would have ranked each song)
100. My My (87)---I guess this was a choice. But peppy quickly turned to borderline obnoxious quickly.
99. Too Much (96)---Like I said in alternative, the repetition got to be too much. Also, "active"?
98. The Garden of Allah (5)---Sorry, Doc, it isn't about the lyrics. If it was, then this would still be there and the other, more generic Don Henley song would be gone. Admittedly, it's a bit of a push for active and the OJ trial lyrics in the second spoken interlude haven't aged that well. But it's kinda scary that stuff they're talking about in 1996 is still relevant in 2019. Also, this high because I felt like it rocked out. That's Sheryl Crow on backup vocals, btw.
97. Cover You in Oil (99)---AC/DC has to walk a fine line between being male rock and tongue in cheek. This one teetered over the edge into self-parody, faceplanting along the way. Vocally, it's a bit of a mess as well.
96. Humans Being (72)---Doc's right on the chorus being the best part of the song. Otherwise, it kinda feels paint by numbers. Don't worry, Van Hagar gets better.
95. Ain't My...(82)---Speaking of Henley, this song reminded me of a slightly more rocking Get Over It. Not Metallica's worst, but they've done better. A lot better.
94. So Much to Say (86)---The somewhat better DMB song this round. But then again, "active" rock?
93. What's Up With That (93)---You remember the somewhat stupid SNL sketch with Kenan hosting a talk show that it's all about him and Lindsay Buckingham? What's up with that? I can appreciate good blues rock, but this ain't it.
92. Hook (80)---I like Blues Traveler, but this feels like a song that Abed from Community would have written. That's not a compliment. Also, "active" rock?
91. She's Just Killing Me (83)---Unlike Doc, I think we got the order right on ZZ Top. This at least felt like it was about something even though it's not close to being their best.
90. Down (69)---I think the appeal of 311 came down to the lead singer for me. The rapper was just sort of there. They never seemed to blend the rock/rap genre to the extent that Linkin Park did.
89. But Anyway (60)---Yeah, this was the better of the Blues Travelers songs. The chorus tied into the lyrics better. I guess that Run-Around won't make it to the top 75 at this rate. Again, "active" rock?
88. Sister (50)---This probably deserved better, like somewhere in the 50s or 60s. Everything just sort of clicked for me.
87. Key West Intermezzo (64)---Lyrics were a bit repetitious and like some other songs here, it's about as active as AJR. It does have a pleasant vibe and I'm hoping Cherry Bomb does better.
86. Old Man and Me (75)---Again, "active" rock? I'm not sure where Hootie and company will fit in future rankdowns, but his transition into country music was way more seamless than Steven Tyler's. But then again, it's not like his old songs would be out of place on country radio.
What song was my #100? Where would In the Meantime have ended up in my Active rankings? Stay tuned!

I'm watching 'The Dirt" for third time. Great movie but way too rushed. It should have been a series where each episode is about how they created one of the big hits or some cool drama in their life. Nothing about Pam and Tommy. She must not have given them the rights, and they barely graze over Heather Locklear and Tommy. BTW the actress who plays (Heather) Rebekah Graff is drop dead gorgeous. I would have made a whole episode just about her.

Yeah, this one was the other one my brother played, but it was the one that I didn't really remember. I suppose there's a reason for that.

With the mainstream rock charts only going back to 1981, this was the only time we were going to get to rank this song. My condolences, Doc Indie Party Rock . (Congrats on being the first to clear your bottom 10 janinho )

Let's be real about this: If this was the actual studio version, I would not have it this low. But this unplugged version just does not work all that well. Kiss isn't really the kind of band that screams unplugged to me.
At least Doc is living up to his Kiss superfandom.

84. Rock and Roll All Nite (Unplugged) - KISS I was doomed the moment this song was rereleased and appeared on this list. It's by far my favorite song here. It's also the biggest party Rock song of all time. This particular version featuered all 4 on vocals. , Gene, Ace , Chris and Paul. Finally we are probably never ranking the 70's, so I wasn't gonna miss mu opportunity to put this at #1.

Sometimes this band improves on their Alt performance, other times they do not. This is one of those cases where they do worse in the Active rankdown. Did you just clear your bottom 10 rowellfarm490?

I'm going to level with you: I wanted to rank this higher, I really did. It has quite a few similarities to, easily, my favorite Journey song...but that's also why I have it as low as I do. It's basically just "Separate Ways" performed in the 90s...and worse.

82. Message of Love - Journey I did not make an easy transition into the 90's. I was still listening to the 80's rock icons who were still releasing music, and their style of music will always sound better to me on many levels. BTW, Nothing but nothing here deserves this song this low of a rank. Steve is at his best vocally here. I did mention something about an 80's icons purge and it has now begun. ,
