New low for a #1 in Digital Song Sales (come on Billboard, admit it):
The song is the longest-leading No. 1 on the sales tally by a lead woman.
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's "Shallow" reaches a pair of chart milestones, topping the Digital Song Sales survey (dated April 6) for a 10th week and ascending to the top 10 on the Radio Songs chart.
The ballad is now the sole longest-leading Digital Song Sales No. 1 by a female in a lead role, passing the nine-week command of Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl" in 2005.
On Radio Songs, Gaga earns her 11th top 10 and first since "Applause" in 2013.
The duet dominates the sales tally with 28,000 downloads sold in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music, and advances on the airplay ranking with 57.4 million audience impressions.
Here's a look at the exclusive company that "Shallow" joins by becoming the 12th title to top Digital Song Sales for double-digit weeks.
Most Weeks at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales Chart 17, "Despacito," Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber, beginning May 13, 2017 13, "Closer," The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey, Aug. 20, 2016 13, "Uptown Funk!," Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars, Jan. 3, 2015 13, "Low," Flo Rida feat. T-Pain, Dec. 15, 2007 11, "Happy," Pharrell Williams, March 1, 2014 10, "Shallow," Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper, Oct. 13, 2018 10, "Shape of You," Ed Sheeran, Jan. 28, 2017 10, "Can't Stop the Feeling!," Justin Timberlake, May 28, 2016 10, "Blurred Lines," Robin Thicke feat. T.I. + Pharrell, June 15, 2013 10, "Thrift Shop," Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz, Jan. 26, 2013 10, "I Gotta Feeling," The Black Eyed Peas, June 27, 2009 10, "Boom Boom Pow," The Black Eyed Peas, April 18, 2009
Notably, as streaming continues to rise and sales decline, "Shallow" sports the lowest weekly sales total for a Digital Song Sales No. 1 in over 14 years, since Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" led the Jan. 1, 2005-dated list with 21,000 sold. (Comparatively, "Shallow" drew 16 million U.S. streams in the latest tracking week.)
As previously reported, "Shallow" ranks at No. 10 on the streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Billboard Hot 100 , where it reached No. 1 on the March 9-dated chart.

What are the chances Old Town Road eventually makes it to #1?

I like a mixture of #1s where sometimes they last a week and sometimes theyβre a month and occasionally are several months or more. Makes it more fun and less predictable. Not sure why it has to be one extreme or the other.

OTR will be ahead of bad guy in sales and airplay and right behind it in streaming. That alone proves bad guy won't be #1.
Hell, OTR might even be ahead in streaming once paid weighting is factored in.

I think it can be annoying to have a large stream of number ones that barely last in the top 10 or donβt even make the year end list. Although it wasnβt as natural due to payola, I wish the turnover of #1s was comparable to that of the 1980s. It seems nice to have more than 20 #1s a year and still have them all peak highly on the year end chart.

If they ever changed the size of the year end list I wonder what people here would do. As that seems to be the threshold for success here

Also I'm just gonna say it, I think it's not farfetched to start a predictions thread when the tracking week begins. I hated when the top 10 came out and there wasn't immediately a new predictions thread that I could check out because no one had bothered to make one yet (and I stopped doing them myself cos the one or two times I tried people went apesh*t about it). Iβm just gonna say this right here, right now with no insults. I donβt think you need 5 alt accounts on this site when you donβt even have one banned yet. Keyword: yet. ...What are you on about? :| This is my only account.

People seem to be forgetting that hot100predictions was right about Thank U Next, 7 Rings and Sucker, despite everyone laughing at him each time. 3/100000000 is pretty good I guess. About to be 4/100000000

bad guy will likely have longevity, with a similar debut week like SICKO MODE back in August, however the points were stronger at the time then where he could only debut #4, with low sales, high streams and zero radio. Same thing is happening to bad guy, except the points are lower and bad guy is likely to debut #1, especially with the MV, lyric video and audio.

So you DO like high turnover of #1's but DON'T like #1's that barely last in the top 10? So like a bunch of iterations of Pillowtalk and Can't Stop The Feeling's chart runs? Honestly that would get pretty boring fast. Also a #1 hit missing the year end list has happened once this century and it was an American Idol song. Take those out of consideration and the lowest position for a #1 hit that got its full run to date in one year is 60 on the year end list

Wow deserves a week at number one but I think I want it to go Bad Guy->Wow->Old town road Hopefully all of those go #1, but I know the charts won't remain that weak for that to happened, Wow will likely reign next week (04/20) unless Bad Guy starts to get airplay and then it will probs be a close fight. Old Town Road might but I think it is already starting to become less "viral".

You really need to stop with the constant bullying. These Hot 100 threads are starting to become like a high school hallway with the immature attacks on each other. Maybe try scrolling past next time instead of clicking the quote button.

Take those out of consideration and the lowest position for a #1 hit that got its full run to date in one year is 60 on the year end list It would be nicer to just see a faster turnover in the top 10 in general, and with that a faster #1 turnover will come. Considering how many songs peaked at #11 in recent time, it would be nice to see songs like Girls Like You spend a couple fewer weeks in the top 10 to make room for something like Wake Up in the Sky. When referring to short lasting number ones, I was thinking more in terms of songs like Nonstop and Mona Lisa which were highly front-loaded as a result of their album release. Although neither of these hit #1 it seems like a matter of time before we do see #1s like this, maybe with Bad Guy next week. I'm hoping that if Bad Guy hits #1 then it sticks around in the top 10 for a while just like Sucker and Shallow have been doing so far.

Nonstop charted for 24 weeks and spent 12 weeks in the top 20, while also going number one on rhythmic and urban radio. It's also in the top 100 on Spotify n Apple Music still. It peaked in it first week but it wasn't that fontloaded and shouldn't be compared to a song that charted for 11 weeks
