I love Lil Dicky's "Earth", is it making any impact? Initially? Sure. But I doubt it'll last anywhere near as long as "Freaky Friday". I don't see it making the year-end list, and only debuting in the 20s or 30s, depending on how much of those YouTube views are US.

I love Lil Dicky's "Earth", is it making any impact? I have my hopes up on Earth doing well on the Billboard Hot 100, like getting a nice debut, some longevity in the charts, then maybe entering the Billboard YE (idc if it's around 80s-90s position) I may find Earth underwhelming, but enjoyable at the same time.

I think the video may give it a run very similar to This is America, although I doubt it could dethrone OTR as #1

Um, Earth probably might not even go top 20. How is it similar to This is America?
Currently #29 on Spotify & #74 on Apple Music. Won't ever get touched by radio.
Will sell maybe 15K this week, then die off in sales.

Will sell maybe 15K this week, then die off in sales. It has very strong numbers on YouTube, though. #2 there with 4,168,905 streams. If that holds well over the week along with its decent audio streaming and sales, top 20 is totally doable. But, yeah, This Is America it most certainly is not.

It got 4.8m US streams first day, which is impressive, but I think it will die off seeing as its not taking off anywhere else. Kworb's real-time global YouTube chart also has it down decently already.

Also, this week has been yet another good lesson on why you never assume a collaboration will be a hit just because of the artists attached.
All these superstar collabs not making any power moves during their release week

Yeah I jumped the gun saying it was going to be comparable to This is America, I didn't realize how poor it was performing outside of YouTube.

All these superstar collabs not making any power moves during their release week Well... Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus just had the biggest week for a collaboration this decade. Thankfully, the gp preference is more about the quality of the song, not the name of the artists.

Is that a collaboration though? I thought Billy Ray Cyrus was added on to the remix later as a featuring rather than an equal credit?

It sounds like the original was recorded first and he could have added his vocals later to the remix?

It’s still considered a collaboration. The reality is most duets - whether from the start or as a remix - don’t have the artists recording together. Mariah and Whitney recorded their parts for “When You Believe” separately, but it’s still a duet/collaboration. Having said that “OTR” isn’t really an example of a ‘superstar’ collaboration. No one would have assumed it would be a hit because of the artists attached.

I'd love to know how two artists, supposedly not working together, could each do their own thing separately, and then make a cohesive song. Get a dictionary

I'd love to know how two artists, supposedly not working together, could each do their own thing separately, and then make a cohesive song. Get a dictionary When you go into a studio, it is not just the artist and his/her collaborative partner and a bunch of equipment. There are others in the studio to operate it. It is certainly possible that artists can record tracks separately and not even meet. Has happened many times before. Rather than argue, I will let you get the dictionary for me. Before we go further. Did they record separately? Not saying that. Just saying it is possible. Did the original song exist and Billy Ray and a song engineer layed his vocals over the top of the original? I think that is what happened but I don't know that for sure either. Call it a collaboration - I don't care - just posing questions. Don't need the argument that goes with it Thanks

Jonas Brothers Score First Pop Songs Chart No. 1 With 'Sucker'
4/22/2019 by Gary Trust
The song reigns after the trio first reached the list in 2007.
Jonas Brothers notch their first No. 1 on Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart, as "Sucker" lifts 2-1 (on the survey dated April 27).
The song, released on Republic Records, likewise previously became the sibling trio's first No. 1 on the all-genre airplay-, streaming- and sales-based Billboard Hot 100, when it launched at the summit in March.
Here's a look at the history of Jonas Brothers (Joe, Kevin and Nick Jonas) on Pop Songs, which ranks titles by weekly plays on a panel of 167 mainstream top 40 stations, according to Nielsen Music:
Peak Position, Title, Peak Date No. 24, "S.O.S.," Dec. 1, 2007 No. 16, "When You Look Me in the Eyes," April 5, 2008 No. 12, "Burnin' Up," Aug. 23, 2008 No. 29, "Lovebug," Nov. 15, 2008 No. 27, "Paranoid," July 18, 2009 No. 34, "First Time," Aug. 31, 2013 No. 1, "Sucker," April 27, 2019 No. 21 (to date), "Cool," April 27, 2019
Jonas Brothers first appeared on Pop Songs on Oct. 20, 2007, with "S.O.S." While their 11-year, six-month and one-week wait for a first No. 1 is lengthy, it's not a chart record: Coldplay took just under 16 years and two months between its March 2001 arrival, with "Yellow," and first No. 1, "Something Just Like This," with The Chainsmokers, in May 2017.

Apart from Jonas Brothers, Nick and Joe Jonas have each reached No. 2 highs on Pop Songs. Nick's solo single "Jealous" hit No. 2 in 2015, likewise, as a member of DNCE, Joe hit the runner-up spot in 2016 with the act's "Cake by the Ocean."
Meanwhile, "Sucker" follow-up "Cool" climbs 26-21 on Pop Songs.
All charts will update tomorrow (April 23) on Billboard.com.
