4/20 thread's already derailing into this week's topics, so let's start funneling them in here. We've got a handful up:
Boys With Top 10 Bid: Just a week after BLACKPINK impacted the chart with "Kill This Love", which broke the 24hr global streaming record, BTS return with pizzaz as "Boy With Luv" has dropped, nabbing a high-profile feature, Halsey, and employing unique versions of the track on on-demand and YouTube, seemingly to incentivise varied and fanatic streaming. It's a little early to call it for sure, but with impressive day 1 sales, snatching the crown from the Billy Ray remix of Old Town Road, and what's likely to be yet another YouTube record breaker, we could be looking at the group's second top 10 debut, after Fake Love in 2018.
Country Roads, Take Me Home: Speaking of "Old Town Road", it shows no signs of ceding its position. Radio is ramping up feverishly, streaming remains strong, and there's a possibility of yet more remixes on the horizon, possibly this tracking week. Chart watchers on this forum are already speculating about a double-digit run, but it's looking like even with conservative estimates, 4 weeks at the minimum is a lock.
Other News: Tracks to watch out for this week include Lil' Uzi Vert's return with "Sanguine Paradise" and "That's a Rack" (#2 and #4 on Apple Music as of writing), the rest of the BTS track from their "Map of the Soul: Persona" album (leading candidates being "Make It Right" and "Mikrokosmos" as of writing), and the posthumous Avicii single "SOS", reuniting the late producer with his biggest star Aloe Blacc (who sang on "Wake Me Up").

Childish Gambino's Guava Island movie, featuring Rihanna, will debut tonight at Coachella. Presumably there will be music associated with it, and potentially a Childish Gambino + Rihanna collaboration.

It features "This Is America" and "Feels Like Summer" and all. Rihanna does not sing at all, but at least she's not just a cameo, she's the co-lead. |

I don't know why anyone expected Rihanna to release a song, from the beginning it was presented as a movie where they co-star. Well the usual Pulse overreaction I guess. |

The BTS song debuted at #4 on Spotify. It also has a radio deal. The YouTube numbers must be good as well. So I think it will become their highest chart entry. #1 very unlikely though.
Also, the Avicii song is currently #5 on Spotify. I have Apple Music and I can't listen to it. It will be interesting to see how well it will chart in the long run.

It’s likely she is changing her routine of a summer single and Q4 album because Adele is coming in Q4, and Taylor cannot beat her. Either way, I’m pumped for the upcoming releases! Even though the radio tracking week hasn't started, Sucker is a sure bet for #1. It should be #1 for a few weeks, at least, depending on when it peaks and when a serious competitor to it emerges.

They want to rush the cycle this time to really impact this year's music scene, especially during the summer where the most important actions tend to be. Why? Taylor Swift's initial's TS. T's the 20th letter in the alphabet. S's the 19th letter in the alphabet. So, TS spells 20 19, which is exactly this year. Very few big names can spell it that way. They're so f**king crafty and calculated. |

I mean music is not mentioned at all anywhere in that article. Don't act like you knew it all. Everyone expected new music out of this in one way or another, with or without Rihanna. Although I agree, it was unlikely for Ri to release a song unless a. guava island could have been a collaborative album that accompanied the movie (which is what I thought) b. Rihanna could have uncredited vocals on a new song (like Beyoncé did on Frank Ocean's blond) (which was less likely) But yes, it was clear this would not be the start of her new era, and she wasn't going to do a feature on a song when there's this much anticipation for new Fenty Music. |

Taykor getting number one isn't a forgone conclusion but its more likely than not imo. She'll be following a song that silently made the top 30 on the year end charts and nearly topped Airplay after 3 pretty hard flops. And her last two debut singles are 2 of the very few songs to top 100k points week one, so I'd say its likely. But it depends on how fast OTR peaks too
